I discovered that a safe I have owned for many years would not open. I had never used a locksmith so I went on the Internet and found RF Locks. I read the reviews which were very impressive so I decided to use this company. I called and spoke with Ray, who said he does not work on safes but that he works with someone who does and he would have refer me to that company, called Total Security, which was fine with me. He told me it would cost $50 for the service call and if the safe had to be broken into and had to be fixed there would be extra costs but at no time did he tell me that if the service person could open the safe with the combination that there would be a charge of $100 for him to do that. I made an appointment for Thursday, Sept. 17, between 2 and 4 pm. By 3:30 on Thursday, I had not heard from Total Security so I called Ray and asked him if he could check to make sure that Total Security would be coming by 4:00 because I had an appointment at 6:00 and I had to leave no later than 5. He said he would check and call me back. About 20 min. went by and he did not call me back so I called him again. Turns out that Total Security was in Natck at that time and he said he could be at my home by 5 which did not work for me so I rescheduled for Friday between 2 and 4. He did arrive on Friday and was able to open the safe with the combination. I was really embarrassed but was relieved that he did not have to break the safe. I assumed the cost would be $50 but to my shock it was $150. It cost $100 for him to open the safe with the combination. I expressed my surprise by telling him I thought that price was outrageous but got my checkbook and wrote a check for that amount. Meanwhile, he called Ray at RF Locks to tell him that I was upset about the cost. Ray did not think I should have been upset. I tried to explain to him that I felt I had I did not have all the information I needed to make an informed decision. I did not blame Total Security but I did think RF Locks was remiss in not telling me the whole story and that I would not use him again nor would I recommend him. Total Security offered not to charge me at all but that was not the issue; I felt he should be paid for his work but I was very angry that I had not been told everything I should have known. read more

I locked my self out of my apartment & called a locksmith out of Brighton at 10 PM, because the superintendent of my building was not answering his phone or responding to my text messages. The locksmith showed up an hour later & wanted to drill my locks for approximately $150 per drill, not building in the replacement locks into that price. I stopped him from commencing drilling and sent him on his way, however not before he extracted $95.00 for a service fee. I was so upset & felt totally ripped off. Fortunately for me one of my neighbors were walking to their apartment and heard my predicament. My neighbor had a favorable recent experience with a locksmith out of Brookline when she was locked out of her car. She said he responded to her call immediately, unlocked her car fast & was very reasonably priced. She told me to look up "locksmiths Brookline" on my cell phone. Thereafter a google map should come up and scroll down to RF Locks & call the Locksmith. I followed her advise and called RF locks and Ray the Locksmith answered the call. He arrived at my apartment within 15 minutes of the call. First he picked & unlocked my dead bolt, used air bags on the door knob to separate the door latch from the door frame, so that the door opened with a loud pop. I inspected the door, found no damage & both locks functioned perfectly. I was so relieved not to have to drill my locks & replace them. Ray was informative, fast & reasonable priced. Additionally I found out that Ray offers customized instillation of self monitoring surveillance systems & I'm considering putting a surveillance system on my apartment as well as a surveillance system for my parents home that can be viewed on my smart phone - 24/7. I was locked out of my new apartment in Brookline and I went to across the street to True Value for assistance. True value recommended that I use Ray from RF Locks and gave me a card to call. Ray showed up on labor day weekend within 10 minutes of my call - really fast. I told Ray that I had a door knob lockout and was concerned about drilling the door knob & breaking it in order to gain entrance to my apartment. My concern was destroying my landlords property. Ray tried to pick the lock, however the door did not budge. Ray utilized air bags to separate the door from the frame about 11/4 inches. Thereafter he used a large flat head to move the latch, however he had to use a lot of leverage. Once the door popped open, the door resistance issue became obvious. The door knob latch screws were loose causing the latch to stick to the strike plate against the door frame. Additionally, the dead bolt strike plate was loose due to a huge stripped screw causing the strike plate itself to jam against the door. Basically in addition to a door knob lockout my door was wedged shut by shoddy maintenance prior to my moving in today and a 3" monster screw that was stripped and not properly anchored. Ray filled the hole with hard wood and screwed in a proper 1" screw as well as tightening all the other screws associated with proper maintenance of the doorknob at a no charge - no additional cost. I was fortunate that the door knob was not drilled because the blockage would have necessitated smashing/ pushing the door in with great force in order to gain entry at great cost and repair. Ray is a highly skilled locksmith, his skill and speed saved me a lot of time & money in gaining immediate entrance into my new apartment. I live in New Jersey and my sister who lives in Cambridge, Mass. had a recent break in to her Brownstone. It was a devastating loss to her property and valuables. She had left a spare key to her front door hidden in a 'key stone' false rock near her property. Since was not home during the day, she assumed the burglars used the key and got in that way. She called an emergency locksmith as it was the weekend. He came out and installed a double key lock. ( This wasn't Ray.) Afterwards she found additional possessions missing. I asked her if the locksmith was Ray as I heard he was very fair priced and highly recommended. It was discovered that the real problem was her back door through a small porch. That lock was not reliable and they were able to open it with a screw driver. This was noticed last Sunday. I decided to contact him directly for her and see if he was available to come out. I called Ray and he answered the phone himself. He was very courteous and helpful. He called my sister back but was currently on a job call. It had just snowed and it was very cold out. He did come out Monday morning at 11. My sister had a doctor's appointment at 1 and had called a cab to take her there. It turned out to be a very complicated job involving drilling 2 different holes and it involved a lot of labor. ( it was still very cold out.) He cut it a bit close but was a real pro with the installation. Just before her appointment she realized her cab hadn't showed up. So the sweet caring thing Ray did was to drive her to the doctors himself! He went beyond the call of duty for her and this was a rescue act of kindness! I came to US with my family to to stay at a friend's place for vacation. Unfortunately,once we came back from a great but tiring day of sightseeing, i realize my key isn´t working anymore. I called a friendly neighbor who had a copy of the key. And his key isnt working, either. It was a problem with the lock itself, so i called RF locks, as it was recommended by google as the closest. Ray was very helpful not only fixing the problem, but also explaining it in detail (both to me and -as didactically as possible- to my non english speaking parents). The problem proved to be increasingly complex... as it wasnt just opening the door. The door had some damage that made it very fragile, so great care was needed not to just bust the door open. But after that, there was the question of how to stop the problem from happening again. Ray went to great lengths to make sure the door could be properly locked. But then the door wouldnt close, so he had to use some power tools to remove some screws, and drill some holes and pretty much fix the frame. It took a whole lot more than initially planned, but he was very nice, proffessional, and didnt charge us more than what we had agreed on by phone (100 USD). Ultimately, i still have to explain to my friend why his front door will not be exactly as he gave it to me (I feel he wont be very happy about it) but for now we can go on and enjoy what's left of our vacations thanks to RF Locks. I came home from work late last night to find my apartment had been broken into and robbed. I googled locksmith Brookline and found Ray from RF Locks, so I called him at 1 AM . Ray answered the phone and responded to my call within 20 minutes. He put a metal sleeve on the door to reinforce the back door since the robbers damaged the integrity of the door when they broke in and destroyed my door knob. Ray explained that I lacked a deadbolt on the back door which is required security. Ray bore a hole and installed a matching brass dead bolt with a brass metal sleeve to reinforce the door that matched the new door knob and sleeve below. He rekeyed both new locks so they utilized and matched the same key as is on my front door lock set, so that I had a secure one key system for all the door locks on my apartment. Ray is extremely professional and I cannot recommend his services enough. My husband and I moved into our house in West Roxbury, and Ray came the same day we called him to help us change our locks. Our house is very old and he was able to successfully remove many weathered old locks and replace them with our new locks. Often my experience is that things always work when handymen are around, and then subsequently things don't work. With Ray, time has passed and these locks work as well and easily as the day he first changed them. Recently, we asked Ray to come back and help us to remove a stripped screw on another lock where we hope to install a codebox. He came out again on the same day we called, and he refused to accept any payment even though we offered. I also mentioned to him that we have several bedroom interior doors that were not closing correctly, due to misalignment with the locks. He offered to take a look before leaving, free of charge, and he explained how we can fix the issue ourselves to save some money. Last Thursday night, I came home late. Not in the mood to do anything but go right to bed, I drowsily searched my purse. As fate would have it, my keys were missing, so I called RF Locks. Ray the locksmith picked up and said he would be to me in 20 minutes. Good for his word, he arrived at my door within that time frame. Surprisingly, it only took him 15 or so minutes to pick my surface mounted lock & use air bags to open my door. I was concerned when my door popped open with loud a bang, thinking that it might have ended up damaged. However, after checking both locks and my door thoroughly I found them both to be intact and unscathed. Once I had been let in, Ray offered some advice for extra service. He pointed out that my top and bottom lock could easily be made to fit one key. So I agreed to the additional labor. He did it and I must admit that its made getting in and out of my apartment a whole lot simpler. Overall, I was really pleased with the work done. I was in a rush leaving my apartment and did not realize I left my keys inside. I quickly called Ray and he came within only 15 minutes. He was able to get inside the apartment within another 15 minutes without causing any damage whatsoever to the door or any part of the wall. Everything remained intact. Afterwards, I just wanted to make sure that the lock on the door worked properly before Ray left, so I went outside the apartment to test the lock. As I started to lock the door from the outside, Ray noticed that the bolt lock on the door was not functioning properly. He offered to take a look at the bolt. Ray then spent an additional 30 minutes fixing the bolt lock. He discovered a malfunction in the bolt lock that, had it not been fixed at the time, would not have been able to be fixed in the near future and I would have had to replace the entire bolt lock. Ray then oiled the locks and hinges for me and did not charge one additional cent on top of the initial fee for getting me into the apartment. I was locked out of my condo in Brookline. I need to get in fast and he came with in 10 minutes. He took the top lock apart and realign it so it's working properly. He also found the lose screw on the door and tightened the screws to make it close smoothly. Update: when he was working on my lock, my backpack which has my laptop in it was close to where he put the screws not totally in his way but close. He moved it out of his way by lift it up and dropped it! I was ok at the time but now I found out that my laptop's screen wound turn on and one of the dvi connector is also not working. I haven't touch that bag after he dropped it and I believe that it was the drop that kills the screen. Overall, he is good at what he does and very professional, I will give him that. But in the mean time he seems not caring about your other belongings. In my case, my leather backpack containing my laptop. Update: the owner called but put little effort to resolve the problem and start to blaming me for have stuff cluttered. But again, he is very good at what he is doing. On New Years Eve, I had a crisis, my sister who is blind, fell in her apt in Brookline. She pressed the emergency button around her neck for help and the fire department & paramedics responded. Since she could not get to the door, they broke her apt door lock to rescue her. I called Ray from RF Locks who answered at 5 pm on New Years Eve and told me that he would respond the next day. Good to his word, he arrived on 1/1, took pictures of the door, sent it to me & told me that he would buy parts as soon as the distributors reopened on 2/3. Completely lost my one and only car key on a Sunday... Most locksmiths are closed on Sundays but I called Ray and even though he wasn't able to come out to my car, he found someone else who was able to. Ray seemed very concerned about my situation and was adamant that he would find someone to help me. The whole process of calling, him calling someone else, and getting two new keys made only took about an hour. There was some discrepancy between the price Ray quoted me and the actual locksmith charged me, but the locksmith claimed the price raise was because it was a Sunday and I wasn't in any mood to argue. Ray provided great customer service, but made me promise to write him a good review when I was on the phone with him. When I hadn't had the opportunity to do so within 24 hours of his help, he called twice more to ask for the review. My experience with RF Locks was nothing but exceptional. Ray was able to adjust to my schedule and came in a timely manner. I was amazed that he was able to repair my lock in the short amount of time that it took him, and even more so in how he managed to repair my existing lock (saving me big $$$). Ray is an honest man who does great work. He has no interest in taking anyone for a ride, he'll get the job done quickly and for a great price. He was even kind enough to perform a "spur of the moment" repair of my mail box lock. Top Quality and Friendly Service, Quick response and Reasonably priced! I am over the moon about the experience I had with RF Locks this afternoon. I lost my car key (the only copy I had, silly I know) on Wednesday afternoon. I looked for days and still could not find it! Saturday after finally giving up I called RF Locks. I thought "I wonder how quick can I get this done? Will it cost an arm and a leg?". When the phone rang, Ray answered. He was kind and promised quick service, this afternoon. When he told me the price I was thrilled. I thought for sure I would get a hike in price due to it being a weekend. I had called the car dealership on Friday and got a higher and would need to get my car towed there! This was at 2 PM on a Saturday.
