Just went to Granite Curling Club this weekend for their open house... we had a group of 18 for a birthday party. I suggest getting there early on open houses because there was a huge line outside. We got checked in and paid, only $20 btw, and were told we would have an hour wait and to go upstairs. Upstairs is super sweet! Free food! And there is a bar which isn't free but cheap $11 pitchers! There are windows upstairs to look down on the ice and watch what's going on. It indeed did take about an hour for our turn to come. The staff, which maybe are volunteers? Were all super nice. They taught us how to curl and then we got to play two games. It's harder than it looks! I was a horrible shooter and fell on my face spread eagle in front of everyone, haha. I was quite good at sweeping however :) Overall great place that I suggest checking out during their open houses which is the only time the public can play unless you rent out the place for a $1000 minimum.

I was here for a corporate team building event in October. It's easy to locate off I5 and there is ample free parking in their lot. I wasn't sure what to expect as I didn't have any prior experience with curling, but we had a good time and it wasn't as difficult to learn as I anticipated. The instructors were great and made the experience enjoyable. If you're looking for something different for a corporate team building event, I highly recommend giving this a try.

This place is awesome! If you're lucky enough to have a draw when Colleen is a bartender, be prepared for some awesome lemon drops!

There are plenty of cars and play areas with big blocks and little play stands and areas for all ages, from first starting to sit up to toddling to enjoy. He really enjoyed watching the other kids and crawling around, discovering neat things to play with. It is a huge space in the community center with a nicely sized parking lot. I don't put my son in day care so it is great to have convenient, indoor, free spaces like this in Seattle. Highly recommended for parents to little ones!

My daughter was too shy and scared to go to the instructor's place because even tho we were only several steps away from her, she ignored us. I could not change another class for her because I was told that it is considered refund and they could not refund me anything. But I would not dare to take my daughter to that cold class again to "try" as the front desk staff recommended us to do it. Perhaps some sort of racism, but it's fine, keep going your way.

Since then, I passed the building when revisiting some of my training sites on foot. Yesterday and today (Friday 23 February 2024 and Saturday 24 February 2024) I finally made my way inside the building and spectated the 2024 Ken Shannon Invitational (Indoor Tack and Field competition). Parking in the athletics area was available in the E1 lot (open to everyone) and the E18 (open to those with University of Washington permits). The rate for a full day of parking was $7.55 each day. I had no troubles finding a parking space either day. The ticket booth was located across from the main entrance of Dempsey Indoor along the side of the softball field area. Restrooms were along the same stretch as the ticket booth, roughly facing Husky Stadium. The entry fee for each day was $10 for general admission without discount, which I thought was a good deal as events ran for approximately 7 hours on Friday and approximately 4 hours on Saturday. The interior of the facility was well set-up to allow attendees close proximity when viewing contested events. Running events were held on the track at the same time field events were being contested in their designated section of the field. Fencing/barriers guided us spectators to viewing areas to watch the different performers. Bleacher seating was located along the starting area for track events, the triple jump/long jump area, and the pole vault section. Workers were professional and direct in communication. Athletes were tuned in to their surroundings as were the spectators and the coaches. Multiple clocks and screen displays were strategically located towards the ends of the track to communicate results. An announcer provided helpful context for results and music played when not a start of a race.

It's easy to start a team or to join as an independent player, the level of player is diverse (with plenty of room for folks new or out of soccer shape), and the general vibe is merry. Pros: - incredibly helpful customer service (go Vanessa!) - easy to join - reasonable price (~70.00 per person if a free agent, less if you make a team) - consistent location (at least for soccer) Cons: - website is a bit stiff to work with - ref experience is generally fine but can vary (all the refs are pleasant but not all are great at calling the game) Personal fit: - you'd need to check the league timing to see whether the days/times work for you - 1 to 2 games per week (7 v 7 sometimes 2, 11 v 11 usually just 1) - I sometimes wish the games were a little longer... (7 v 7 is 25 minute halves) - the style is laid back - it gets competitive but some folks may want more competition than the league will offer - the skill level varies but is very friendly to new/out-of-shape players - some folks may want a more competitive league - minimum of extra rules (e.g., no macho rule) - I love this but may frustrate folks looking for league-restriction of skill level or play style Highly recommend you give the league a try if you think it fits your style.
