The parking lot is really small and you might have better luck street parking if it gets busy.

My family and I have had mixed experiences at this gym. As a family, most of the staff is very…read morefriendly and inviting to families with young children. However, we have experienced multiple negative interactions with the Manager, Jeremy Park. We felt that he selectively came out to speak with my family about policies of the gym, (other patrons were doing the same exact thing, but he did not address them about the exact same policies). We are not sure if it is because we are people of color, or just that fact that we have kids with us, but we do not feel comfortable when he is present at the gym. He single handedly makes the entire experience at the gym negative. There are many times, that we select days that he is not working so that we did not have to feel targeted, while being paid patrons at the gym with our family. We do like the other staff (we have never had any issues with any other employee) and the services that they provide. We hope this is not a consistent feeling that other families receive as well. In the future, we will be switching to another gym like bouldering project or vertical world, that is more inclusive to families. We hope this provides some insight for other families to make decisions on where they will take their children for a positive experience, so they get to love climbing as much as we do.

There is no giant parking lot like their is at the Poplar location. I'd say the punch packs and memberships are on the expensive side but it works at all the locations (there is a new one in U District I haven't been too!). I usually get the 10-punch pass for almost $300 after tax.

I climbed for ~2 hours and never got bored. It has large bouldering area and multiple walls. The routes were creative and kept me intrigued. The falls are safe on their cushion mat. This place also has a full fledged gym but I didn't try that side. Overall great vibe and great way to get full body workout channeling your core, upper body, overall flexibility and mobility! Around way before we had "climbing gyms"…read more Some of the all-time greats have put their time on 'the rock' and every so often you run into one. It's free. It's right along the lake, so there's a welcome breeze on a nice sunny day. The slab is a great way to practice for all those runout slab climbs in Squamish and Darrington. There's even a 'just a little too high for comfort' pillar that you may want to risk on day's when you're feeling dialed in. But use the anchors too to climb any section. It's a pretty simple rock. It's up to you to think up an infinite number of ways to climb it, traverse it, and tune into your mind/body connection as you climb it. Many parts of it are actually quite challenging. If you are a student or staff member who climbs, this is THE PLACE to spend your lunch breaks. It's a secret gem tucked just out of the way to discourage the crowds. Don't tell anyone.

Bring a jacket for the 5-minute walk. Too many team/comp events. It seems like 1 out of 4 times I go, a large portion of the gym is closed due to competition or team training. Yesterday, half of the bouldering area was closed for comp setting. I wish their calendar posted notices of areas being closed like this.

Having no climbing experience, I thought it was challenging but fun and totally do-able. Besides skydiving, this was my second favorite activity so far in Washington. The session kicks off with a safety overview and a practice climb up 30 feet before moving onto the next tree. Depending on the pace of your group, you could climb up to 3 trees in one session. At no point do you feel any pressure to have to climb all the way to the top. You can stop anytime and just "hang out" or descend to the ground. The guides are very helpful and patient. The equipment is checked multiple times to ensure everyone's safety. Make sure to bring some snacks, water, and a camera. You might get lucky and spot some bald eagles like we did.

We went during family day - believe they have this once per month so it was discounted rates $13 and included shoe / harness. Walk over to Dicks for burgers, fries and shakes afterwards (same parking lot) and Daiso for Daiso fans :)
