Kick ass indepent bouldering gym. Tough, outdoor style setting. We gotta keep this style of gym and community space alive.

We were invited to HMB for a children's birthday party, and it was packed! People of all ages traversed the space. While there is little height to the climbing walls, they've done their best to give a lot of length, and at least one upside-down archway. The children's area is colorful, vibrant, with easier and more challenging options. Staff - Gabby & Lily - were great about engaging and leading the kids in games, challenges and safety. Overall, kids enjoyed it, and a couple of parents had the chance to strap on their climbing shoes and go for a whirl! read more

Halfmoon Bouldering is my favorite Seattle climbing gym. Climbers are friendly and community oriented but the gym never feels overly crowded. I like that the walls aren't too high but the routes are creative enough that I can challenge myself in the small space. Their yoga classes are also great and they are included in the membership. read more

I like this gym! Prices are pretty good compared to some of the others in Seattle. It is a lot smaller, but I don't mind. I almost always found parking closeby. The location is convenient - near bus routes and grocery stores. They also have fun events sometimes and have yoga classes regularly. read more

The staff are friendly and there are lots of fun routes. Both times I've been, there have not been too many people. There is lots of other nice equipment like bikes, hang boards, and free weights as well. read more

Best customer service I've received in a very long time! I took my child in for a bit of climbing only to find out that there wasn't really anything available due to spring break camps and some construction going on. I can't believe they figured out a way for us to enjoy the area anyway. They could have easily said it wasn't going to work and send us on our way. One staff member took the time to figure it out, give us a tour, and make my child so happy. I cannot recommend enough!! read more

Great community gym with friendly staff, routes are always fresh and interesting, caters to all levels of ability. I love it here, my safe place to come and grow and connect with other climbers. Not intimidating at all and highly recommend their intro classes. read more

Fun place to take the kids on a rainy day. Reservations needed for kids under 14. Website was very confusing re: who needed reservations or not so I recommend calling. Everyone masked and place was scrupulously clean. On the day we went wasn't crowded at all (there are capacity limits for kids, hence the reservation system mentioned above). Fun castle themed kids area with a tunnel slide accessible via ladder or climbing up the wall. Fun activity for kids toddler on up. Good place to get out some wiggles on a rainy day. Taking off one star for being fairly pricey for what it is (need to pay extra for shoe rental on top of an already pricey entry fee). read more

It's a nice climbing gym but it's lost it's worth for me lately. I like kids but it's difficult to navigate how packed it gets with children, despite there being a kids climbing area. It just makes it tough because you really have to watch out to be safe when there are so many kids running around. Still, it's a nice gym with good equipment but I don't think it's worth the price for the experience. read more

The day pass price here is similar to the other climbing gyms in Seattle, except the location is less convenient. Problems were interesting, but the mattress was awful. Similar to Momentum, they use very hard mattress, which is terrifying to fall upon, and does plenty of harm to your knees. The holds were all brand new aka they lack grease on them thus they were all quite rough on palms & fingers. I did like how few people were in the gym though. read more

Half moon here is an absolute gem in the community. I absolutely love this place. It's the best addition to our neighborhood since I moved here 3 years ago. Excellent bouldering with a great array of climbs, difficulties, and styles. I love the weight section to round out any workout. read more

I pick Half Moon over SBP any day. I love it there. Problems are fresh and creative, kids are manageable, staff is cool, members are chill, workout equipment is adequate, parking is no biggie. Pretty confused by the other reviews here tbh read more

My goals when writing reviews is to be fair and transparent. When first introduced to this climbing gym I found it to be small, but appreciated how kind the front staff is and how they offer discount days for minority groups. It's a friendly environment while in the gym. You see some families which is nice. Amenities are limited and it's challenging to justify a membership for such a small bouldering gym. However I must take away two stars because of a recent interaction with Half Moon via social media. A few of their social media posts were confusing and they DMed me passive aggressively about the situation. All I did was ask a few questions for clarification and instead received uncharacteristically unkind and passive aggressive messages. It is disappointing that the front desk customer service does not translate to the co-owner's DMs on social media. I used to bring friends here, but will probably start taking them to SBP instead. Customer respect is important to me and passive aggressive messages when I'm trying to be kind and get clarification is not a good way to run a business. Disappointed, but happy to know there are other climbing gyms. read more

Love this gym. We recently got into bouldering and this place has been great. There is a ton of different types of routes you can choose from all with varying difficulty. The staff is so friendly and have started conversations with us multiple times. It seems like there is such a great sense of community at Half Moon. Even though we are still very beginner level, we never feel judged for trying and failing. Everyone (including the staff) has been so supportive when we complete a route. Because of these reasons is why I keep finding myself returning to Half Moon. Also it's not nearly as crowded as SBP even on busy nights. Different sections of walls get changed every week so it always feels like there's new climbs to do but there's always time to perfect your climb. read more

definitely liked this place and the size feeling so open. Not a big space to do workouts not climbing related in but maybe it's possible to bring weights in the yoga room. what made me most upset was I used a student discount the first time I went and then when I came back to use it a different girl said I needed to be enrolled full time, I'm sorry but if I had my student ID there would be no way for you to tell if I was part time or full time enrolled .. basically it was just dumb and lacked customer service or knowledge. Full time or not I'm still a struggling student and that's the whole point of the student discount. Place says it's community driven. It's not, just a nice catch phrase to dupe unwittings. I brought my kid to check it out for 1/2 hour. There is no sliding scale, no check it out for first time for free or reduced. It's a flat rate day pass, great if you want to be indoors climbing for a day. Not for 1st timer 10 year old. $20. read more
