9:30 pm on a Friday is a good time to go!

I have climbed here a few times now and have done two classes now, so I think it's time for me to leave them a review. You need to pass their belay test in order to belay here and they have a rule of no teaching anyone yourself inside the gym. So my first visit I didn't belay, my friend belayed me and I still had a great time. My second visit I took their class: Women's Intro to Climb for $40. - It was a 2.5 hour class taught by Lindsay and she went over everything about belaying, roping in, and climbing. I thought the class would drag at first since it was so long, but the 2.5 hours flew by! Harness and shoes are included in the fee of this course. Lindsay was a great teacher! - After the class though, they do not allow you to belay, they want you to soak in all the info they taught you, then you can come back the next day to take their temporary belay test. - This class gives you a 2 week unlimited climbing pass though. If you don't have shoes or harness, you can rent them for $8 total ($3 for harness, $5 for shoes) So I went back last night. Went through the temp belay test, in which I can ask questions if I needed too, and passed. At the end of the 2 week trial, you take the pass or fail test so you can belay. As of right now in my 2 week trial, I can ask questions and still belay! I also took a yoga class there last night and really enjoyed it. The class wasn't too crowded, a great mix of men and women in the class, and for all levels. If you want a day pass it's $19. If you get a membership, it's like $69. They also offer a $78 month pass, or a punch card. Overall, I have had great experiences here and it's super close to my apartment!

Vertical world is a rundown cracked industrial warehouse with ropes, walls, and chalk. This, my fellow Yelpers, is a proper climbing gym. Those newly built white and sterile climbing gyms all lack character. When you walk into vertical world, it either feels like home or you think it's a craphole. They have it all here. Challenging routes, boulders, weight area, and even a yoga studio!

Such a great space! My girlfriends and I were here for a Vertical Girl event. The venue itself is in a weird location in the Ballard-Magnolia area, but when we walked in, it blew my mind--it might of been the combination of the event, the music and all of the girls that were there at the event. Regardless, I didn't know that there was a place like this in Seattle. There were walls and walls of climbing walls! If you're a beginner, there's a padded practice wall. They have cubbies for you to store your stuff. You can either wear your own tennis shoes or climbing shoes (that they offer). They have everything you need for a fun experience. This would be a really good spot for group outings and events. Great for bonding--something out of the usual. I think it'd also be a great place for a first date, if you're both active...or competitive. (I would think this, it's also great for kids.) I'm definitely going to keep this place in mind for future events. Me likey.

Came here with a friend when I was gifted a free pass by a friend for Christmas. First, this place blew me away when I walked in. This is clearly the biggest rock gym I've ever been to. It was packed at 7:30pm when I got there but it didn't seem like people were waiting at all to climb. Checking in was pretty painless with a liability waiver that was streamlined with a computer interface. I had my own harness, biner, and ATC but needed shoes. Equipment check-out was quick and painless, AND they have lockers for your stuff which was really convenient. We got situated and tested out for belaying. Since I couldn't remember how to tie one of the easiest knots (it's been years since HRST master's course) I couldn't test out, but my buddy could, which of course meant that he could belay me, but I couldn't belay him. I'm glad they take the time to make sure people know what they're doing. Safety should be, and is, paramount here. Once we got started, everything ran smoothly. Every line had a Gregory devices, which made belaying easy and safe. We tried a few of the bouldering routes which proved challenging and entertaining. Once again, the capacity of this place is amazing and is probably its best asset. The staff was helpful, yet stern about safety, a definite plus. I think a day pass was $16 which isn't TOO bad if you spend awhile there. I know I definitely wouldn't come back if I knew I only had an hour. A little bit of a drive from the Eastside, but worth it. Check out was quick and easy, and the place is super clean. I'd come back here in a heartbeat, and I'd bring all my friends too. This place is awesome!

Great indoor climbing gym for all ages. And they'll host a birthday party for your kid! If you're willing to take a few classes, you can get certified as a belayer, and then go when you want with your kid(s), paying just for rental shoes, harnesses and time. A good deal. Makes for a fun physical family outing. Small selection of climbing gear for sale.

Disrespectful staff and cocky atmosphere. Totally unwelcoming and felt spoken down to. Not a fun place to be as a newcomer.

You don't want to rub skin off, trust me! Parking: small private lot Service: check in at the counter, get your shoe rentals and a bag of hand chalk. If you are new to Momentum, you will watch a short intro/safety video. Atmosphere: spacious and music plays in the background but is honestly ignorable and not too overpowering. Just the right volume. There is a variety of levels VB being the easiest and V16 the most difficult. They are marked with white tags at the beginner of each rock color set. There is regular weight lifting and other body building equipment and well as grip training walls. I'm amazed at how some people can hold on to just a sliver of ledge!!! There is a separate closed off room in the back left corner for lounging but it is quite echoey. Poor acoustics. The back left corner also has simple electronic lockers to use and store your belongings. There are instructions on the back of the lock on how to set it. The lockers are a good size and can fit a large backpack. To the right of the lockers is a hand washing station to clean chalk off your hands. Use that knee pad to turn the water on! Overall great place to obtain sore forearms haha. I do personally prefer the Seattle Bouldering Project though because they have more space, equipment and foam rollers.

It was even located in a completely different part of Lynnwood than I was guessing. My only complaint is that on a busy Saturday the parking lot is a little difficult, might be a good idea to find out in advance other options for parking if you are coming at a peak time. If you don't know rock climbing is hard work and they have rental shoes and harnesses you can use. This place is huge, with large locker rooms, an upstairs and a downstairs, a gym area and even places to sit around at tables. The upstairs has a lot of bouldering options and a place designed for kids. Seems like they offer a lot of camps/classes here too. Everything was nice and clean, everyone was super friendly and helpful. It still looks brand new. I got a voucher at an auction for the rock climbing experience and invited my family, 2 kids, 7 and 9, and another adult. Their mom came along hoping to photograph our accomplishments. This is meant to be an hour experience where you get someone to do the belaying for you while you work on your climbing. We ended up with Saul, who was the best helper ever. Don't know if he's always there, but if not you should request him. We loved him so much we even wrote out comment cards. He made the experience great for everyone. I had anticipated that we would each do a couple climbs and sit around and watch while the others climbed. I also thought our photographer would have to wait in the lobby (she did have to fill out a waiver). This was not the case, not only was Saul great at helping everyone feel less anxious and providing encouragement, he helped us get set up on the self belay routes so that we didn't spend most of our time sitting around. He did a great job helping us find routes that were appropriate and making sure we were comfortable enough to come down without his help on the self belays. He provided tons of tips and shared his love of rock climbing. He made sure we understood about bouldering and let us hang out up there a bit after our time was over. We had a great time, everyone was able to climb as much as they wanted. The 9 year old rocked it, the 7 year old made some decent climbs and had a good time. Our photographer hung out with us the whole time and took some awesome photos/videos. We had a great day and I hope we do this again in the future. If you are on the fence about trying it, definitely check it out.

There's a reason why I keep coming back to Kaf guides. If you can dream it, they will help you do it! They are willing to work with you on designing the trip you want, they meet you where you are skill and fitness-wise, they are open to feedback, they are kind, patient and fair. I've been lucky to ice climb, crack climb, learn trad and rock rescue, practice avalanche rescue, and dial in my multipitch skills all with the Kaf crew. Even if you're more than just a beginner, you'll benefit from learning from highly skilled and experienced professionals whose passion for what they do is really evident. Their excitement is infectious, and you'll often find yourself in awe of their technical abilities and movement. Watching them in their element is a gift. They make sound decisions to keep you and themselves safe from the many objective dangers in the wild. They'll celebrate the smallest of wins with you, and offer encouragement and support to keep trying. I've heard that you shop for a guide, not a guide service, and this is really true once you get to know this team. Special mention to Woody who has guided me for 90% of it - about 130 hours to date! His problem-solving skills are so impressive and there is no guide I trust or respect more. And Mick who is the heart and soul of Kaf. Mick will have you smiling all through the online courses which are an excellent way to dip your toe into the world of climbing and mountaineering. I'm so excited for more adventures with Kaf in the years to come.
