Last year, they had multiple microwaves, but this year, they've reduced it to about three. However, they still have microwaves, and there are couches within a few inches of anywhere in the facility. They also have Wi-Fi, a printer, and special events like games, board games, and trivia. There's a refrigerator sink for washing dishes and a place to relax and catch a nap before continuing your studies. The commuters and transfer comments section of the university building holds a special place in my heart. If you're commuting in and around the Seattle area, you should definitely check it out. It has everything you need, including lockers, chargers for cell phones, laptops, and computers. Just check in with staff members, and they'll have anything you need. Don't forget to have your Husky card, as you'll need to tap in to enter and tap in at the staff desk. You'll have to tap in every time you enter the facility, but other than that, it's an amazing place to relax with someone who doesn't live in Seattle.

And it just seemed like some random stuff thrown together for resource desks but that also didn't seem like they were that helpful and being a resource desk that I would want to go to. The only thing it had going for it was tons of places to sit and study The whole thing was very "meh"

If you don't go to to UW, you may find yourself here for an event, but otherwise, you 'll run across it in your perusing of the campus. The exterior blends into the histories styles of surrounding humdinger of which I have yet to research. Regardless, it's not your modern Koolhaas you're going to see in other parts of the city, but instead a nod to buildings for older centuries than the current one. Designed by Basetti Architects in (2001, need to confirm...), the building is dedicated (like many of the IW buildings) to Microsoft royalty. In this case, the mother of Bill Gates, Mary Gates. The center of the building contains a workspace that reminds one of historic libraries with dramatic arches and light impacting the space at various times. The grey skies of Seattle keep this building modest, but it's worth looking at nonetheless. The classroom spaces are far less emotionally and aesthetically powerful with floors that remind one of a high school classroom, with clocks you can't help but look at and immediately want whatever is happening there to finish up. That's a little unfortunate, but functional nonetheless. The most inspiring aspect of the building is the student artwork, which is prominently displayed throughout. This is something you can't miss, because student art is always more express than what you'll see at a museum. Overall, the building has some character, plenty of function but could definitely be improved with a little lore attention. OK there's my first attempt at an architectural review. Please let me know how to improve it as I eventually will.

This building offers some of the best study areas on campus, as well as a cafe and a large library with a printing station. There is even a huge outdoor patio on the roof that is covered and usable even on the rainiest of days. For study areas, you can choose between the many cafe tables, the outdoor patio with chairs and tables, a lounge with a fireplace and comfortable chairs, modern metal chairs and ottomans spread throughout each of the floors, as well as tons of tables and computer stations on the library. When it is sunny and warm, people study on the steps and front lawn of this building too. If you want to avoid the boisterous underclassmen at Ode, and don't feel like walking up all the stairs to the Suzzalo quiet reading room, I highly recommend the Paccar library as a study area. You even get a stroll through the beautiful quad on your way!

The library is very spacious which allows many students to study here at once with ample space for spreading out their books and notes. Paccar Hall also offers study rooms for students to book online and meet up with their peers to study for upcoming tests and quizzes. One of the best features of Paccar is the food that is available for sale right by the entrance. Students are able to purchase delicious sandwiches, salads, or pasta here. There is also a Starbucks which I enjoyed stopping by before my accounting class!

(if you're attending a summer event and can be outside, or it's before sunset.) The bar seems to have lots of options, but no prices listed. So, it's a roll of the dice. "Market price" for a wine pour, I guess. Plus, they add an automatic gratuity. (Be sure to read the fine print) THEN, the card swipe machine asks you for an additional tip! This place hasn't been remodeled or updated in what seems like 50+ years. I hope to never return.

I was initially attracted to the idea of the social club. The lounge, which has a traditional college pub feel, includes a pool table, shuffleboard, a large flat screen, and lots of seating - a great space for hanging out. The venue which consists on two floating vessels has a large dock off the back. We were blown away by how much fun the dock has been. On nice summer days, we would come down for a couple of hours and lounge/lay out on the dock or hop in the water and swim for a bit. There are number of singles, couples, and families so it brings a nice balance of people. (We don't have kids but I've always thought this is the perfect club for those who do - without being too annoying for those of us who don't.) Also throughout the summer, they do Wednesday happy hours and a fun outdoor Thursday night concert series on the dock. I've talked to a number of serious rowers who enjoy the club for the boat access. My husband and I aren't rowers but to our surprise, we've had a lot of fun taking out kayaks (and paddle boards) - both with free access as a part of the membership. The gym isn't fancy but it's clean and has some good equipment (stationary bikes, rowing machines, weights). There are never more than a few people in the gym at once. I've liked it so much that I canceled another gym membership and only come here now. I wasn't sure if this would be a better "summertime" club but we've enjoyed into the colder months. In addition to my ongoing use of the gym, they offer fun social events like college football viewing parties and wine tasting events. Lastly, I have nothing but great things to say about the staff. They genuinely care about their members and have helped create a warm and welcoming environment. They really help set the tone for the overall feel of the club, especially for the social events. I'm glad we made the choice to join. It's been a great addition for us.
