Well, I can't tell you what the food is like because I haven't been able to eat here. I'm from out of town and have tried twice to eat here during hours that they are supposed to be open. I won't try again. I noticed other reviewers mention their unreliable hours. I even called an hour before going over to ask about the menu, so I figured they would be open. You shouldn't open a business if you can't follow your own hours. I went to Taqueria Yungapeti instead and I recommend it. read more

This place is a gem. The food was wonderful, and felt very authentic! This isn't your dump of cheese on ground meat joint, the food was all wonderful and very tasty. Hot salsa was Chipotle smoked, and the guacamole was wonderful. I had a hurachi with fish on it and he had two beef tacos. It was sublime. The atmosphere is of a local joint, and very enjoyable. My husband and I are local VEGANS and we love Grandma's! Everything is very fresh, and they have lots of vegetarian options - vegan if you leave off the dairy! We love the corn and cactus fillings. The burritos are hearty, and the sopes are nice for a lighter option. Their homemade salsa is TO DIE FOR. We like to mix the red and green for what they jokingly call "Christmas salsa"! We always buy a container for our taco nights at home, cause nothing else compares! The owner is super sweet and staff is always friendly. Although they don't have these posted as official hours, it seems that, at least for the time being, they close down the shop between lunch and dinner, closing at maybe 3 or 4 and opening up again at 6 for dinner. Highly recommend if you're in Walla Walla! It's the freshest Mexican food we've ever had. read more

Arrived with our family of 4. 2 tables were available. We politely waited to be seated at either one, or literally Even Acknowledged for over 10 minutes. Thought someone maybe called in sick but No, the lack of more than 1 server is on Purpose for a sorely misplaced point of pride. After being seated we waited another 5+ minutes and still had no menus or water or any other interaction from the staff of 2. I wish this was hyperbole. It isn't. We came at 7:25 on a Saturday. A normal time for dinner. And all we got for about 20 minutes of waiting during a time when multiple tables were open was a cursory hello. Really would have loved to eat something but wasn't willing to let our hungry family wait for what was shaping up to be an hour and half wait for subpar service. Great food deserves great hosting, timely service, and basic human interaction. Please consider hiring even One additional server. You need it. Best of luck. read more

Brought in a big group of hungry golfers last weekend. Yelp never fails us! This food was incredible. Loved the authentic tastes and the service started off excellent. They did however, get very lost somewhere in cooking our meals. It ended out taking over two hours for the 15 of us to get served our food--some had finished eating by 45 minutes before others plates had even arrived. I think this disaster could have been avoided with better planning on the staffs side, but we didn't complain. Other tables sat while we were there, but the wait staff asked them to wait for 20 minutes to order as the kitchen was behind with our large group. At least one table left due to this which was too bad. The food was very good making it hard to be mad at the timing of dinner. For a very small kitchen, I understand but it could have been handled better. I'll return next time I'm in Walla Walla! read more

My god I love this food! Out of everything in town, this is by far the most authentic for sure! I recommend ordering his Oaxacan Horchata. It's amazing. And the owner has pretty great customer service. He's so damn friendly and respectful. The only downfall is that occasionally the hours of operation are wonky. I am basing this review on the customer service. As we entered the restaurant, there was one other customer at the bar finishing up his meal. The guy greeted us and quickly gave us two menus and walked away. Another lady "Letty" took our order while the guy that initially greeted us sat down to eat at a table next to the counter with who I am assuming is "grandma/abuela" no problem. I understand being hungry. After we ordered Letty took the order to the guy and began to discuss our order and how to make it! Seriously? It was obvious that she was either new, or worked in a different area of the business. But to have the two of the others simply instruct her from their seats while she brought food out for them to inspect was just ridiculous! In all, we waited 15min for our food to be prepared. As the food was being packaged and coincidentally after I mentioned to my husband how discussed I was about the whole thing, did the owner finally offer to help. Then two other ladies came in and the guy went out of his way to cater to them. Excuse me, but I was the only one in the restaurant, and had a baby! To finish it off, the food was terrible! I don't know what the other people ate, but we ordered the burrito, sope, and nopal salad. Even the "complimentary" chips (with no salsa might I add) were stale as ever! As we left we noticed Customers coming in who were unmasked and the tables were cleaned with a towel and no sanitation spray although there was hand sanitizer in a bottle on each table. What a delightful surprise! My husband, 6 yr old son and I wanted to try someplace new last weekend, and happened by Grandma's Kitchen. We went in, were immediately greeted warmly and service was stellar all night. In fact, when our server was in the middle of bringing us more chips & salsa and got way-laid at another table, another employee grabbed the stuff out of his hand and brought out to us with a smile. Everyone seemed happy & to work well together... Great environment. The good was fantastic. My kiddo scarfed his taco & soup, loved it all and pronounced that we'll definitely be back. Maybe the worst restaurant I've ever been to. Seemed cute and homey at first but turned out to be a disaster. The menu on the wall has different information than the table menu but it turned out not to matter anyway because they were out of most of the ingredients and there was no daily special even though they advertise having one. I got a vegetarian sope because I don't eat pork and that's all they had and my wife got soup and a pork taco. She had to wait 15 minutes for the soup and it was too salty to eat. Then our food finally came out and, big surprise, it was wrong! They brought me a pork sope. When they finally got our order right, we'd been there almost an hour and the food was messy and bland. The exasperated manager, Manuel, came to apologize and gave a bunch of excuses and dragged his overworked mother out of the kitchen to talk to us. It was sad. We were very uncomfortable and desperate to leave. Overall, it was a frustrating and awkward experience. We won't be going back. Oh, and they charge for chips and salsa! And you're forced to listen to elevator music for the whole eternity it takes them to make your mediocre food. read more

Just finished a long day of work and facing a long drive. Needing food I looked in yelp. Grandma's kitchen was kind of hard for me to find. Hint: directly across from Marcy's. Have you ever made something with cheese and had bits of crispy cheese left on the pan? Those are good, now imagine a chicken salad in a bowel of crispy fried cheese. Yum!! Cozy little restaurant on the other side of Macy's. That enchanting smell that grabs you as you walk through back parking out of Macy's, is coming from this restaurant.
