Nothing wrong with the manager Lyndsey at all, she was very helpful and nice. The hostess could have used a little more work on how to answer the phone or talk on the phone, just weird interaction after they stated they did not have the pulled pork. Now to the real part of why this is 1 star, we ordered food around 6:05 no big deal it was going to take about 20 mins, so we drove into town about 10 minutes out. We got the call from the hostess stating they did not have the pulled pork tacos anymore (this was a weird phone call and interaction), we then placed a different order in, which is no big deal and I figured it would delay the food to come out. I went in and waited about 15-20 minutes for the food to come out. I paid and left (they also had one side of the bar closed, which was kind of strange for a Friday night). Got home with the food and we ordered 3 orders of the fish and chips, an order of the Baja fish tacos, and newly changed, smoked Turkey Reuben. Apparently the menu was changed to just one6 oz piece of fish, instead of 2 3 oz pieces, which honestly you should have 2 6 oz pieces because it is kind of ridiculous to have one piece of fish of fish an chips, I feel the standard is even having 3 pieces at most restaurants. We called the manager and she was polite and understood the situation and gave us a full refund. I just think for the owners, you guys really have to rethink this menu sometimes. Firstly, the building and ambiance of this brewery are gorgeous. I met up with friends but we also saw families and other groups of people meeting up here, so it seemed to appeal to a variety of people. We ordered from their special December brunch menu, and I felt like we got a lot of food for a reasonable price. The Snowman Sammy was delicious. So was the cinnamon roll from a local bakery! We did wait a long time for our drinks and food to arrive, which was disappointing because the restaurant was far from full. We will definitely be back to enjoy this spot! read more

Grand River is opened again, and they have worked hard on improvements. The menu has new items. My husband got the ancho steak bowl, and it was amazing with a generous portion of tender steak. I got a classic bacon jam burger, and it was as delicious as it always was. The biggest thing I noticed was that the staff was very invested in providing a great experience. The food and beer was as good as it always was before closing. We will definitely be back. We always enjoyed Grand River, and I would say the improvements are impressive. It's good to have them back. Visiting family for Christmas and went into Marshall to check out things. We decided to give Grand River. Brewery a try for lunch. Me and my wife got the Ruben with fries to split and it was awesome. I know it's just a sandwich but man it was so so good. My brother in law and his wife got the Nashville Hot Chicken with fries and they really likes it also. Great service. Love the building. Exposed old brick and really cool archways. Have no idea what the old building was back in the day but yeah it's pretty cool. Didn't really expect much from the food but I was throughly surprised. Stopped in here a few years ago. The brew was fantastic. Wait. Staff was quick and friendly and I truly enjoyed the fantastic food and beer the ambiance was warm and the bar keeper made use feel welcome . Food was hot and to. Us in 20 minutes and the place was packed . This visit was dismal, Bar top was sticky , only 3 other groups in the place . Bar keeper took our order , Hash eggs and toast cold tea and I had a beer . And then she disappeared for 65-minute I got another beer she said our food was coming up . After 75 minute hash eggs and toast was served to us cold and the butter for the toast had sat so long it was now 1/2 liqured . The place was dirty , don't get ne started on the bathroom. The owners at one time cared , now they opened new places and left thier main place be run by the kids . Who know nothing or care about quality service or food prep. So sad to see this happen . We really loved it at the beginning . I can see management keeps responding over the last 6 months thier going to fix the kitchen and wait staff . Loved my Gyro it was real lamb! The pita was more of a flat bread but still good . Other party had fish and chips I tasted fish flakey and good! My cousin had ribs that looked like to swoon over! My husband and I were so excited to try this place, we're still semi-new to the area so we're trying to find our favorites. We tried once before and they closed early for a party . We walked in and there was no one to be found, couple minutes later a lady came from the back after we pressed the button, we were seated at a tiny table. Very tiny table, our waitress came over and my husband asked for a booth so we got to move. We were seated at a big booth and got our menus, I already knew I wanted wings and fries. I love chicken wings, and I was excited to try the ranch. I saw in the menu it was "house made" I absolutely love ranch. The waitress came with our drinks and took our choices down, I got the bone in wings and chronic fries. My husband chose the black and blue burger well done with sweet potato fries. We sat and chatted about how cute the place was. After a bit, probably like 25 minutes, the waitress came with our food, my fries, wings and 2 ranch which was VERY watery, my husband's burger and fries (not the sweet potato fries he asked for). I tried the wings, they were super dry, no flavor, tough and no sauce whatsoever. The ranch had absolutely no flavor. The chronic fries were disgusting. Absolutely stunk and had a sour taste, husband did NOT like his burger either, no flavor, sour taste. Fries were already cold. We told the waitress he asked for sweet potato fries so she brought them out, they were actually the only thing hot. This place is ehh, I definitely wouldn't recommend, I'm not trying it again. Let me be perfectly clear... 75% of the visit was great! But a couple little things I can't get over drops this place to a 3* visit! The beer was fantastic! I enjoyed the only "coffee IPA" I've ever seen! The Ryes 'N Shine was Very unique and quite tasty. I also enjoyed the Monkey Mouth IPA. My wife enjoyed her wine flight as this place is a brewery, winery, and distillery! Quite impressive! But it was the eatery aspect that was just "meh" and very forgetful. The cheese curds are awful! Sorry, just our opinion, but they were so bland and tasteless. Now I got the wings. They were good and served with 2 sauces. Only $12 for 8 crispy, juicy wings. No complaints! BUT... my wife ordered a Caesar salad for $13! We all know what's in a Caesar salad... Romaine, Parmesan, Croutons, and dressing! For $13?? So, my wife decided to add chicken as that was an option. Either it doesn't say it, or we didn't look, but that added another $8 to the cost! That's right, a $21 salad! And it was the dryest, must have been cooked yesterday chicken EVER! It looked so unappealing, I actually felt sorry for my wife. Oh and the dressing? Where was it? It must have been soaked up by the chicken as it tried to hydrate itself?? I genuinely love coming here every chance I get. They are always so pleasant and accommodating. I still have yet to eat here, so I can only really speak for the beer, but they do not get enough love. They a great selection of styles and every one that I've had had been great. Give it a try. I will give a more thorough review once I've had a chance to try the food. read more

We have visited the Jackson and Marshall locations many times. The Jackson visits have always been very satisfying. The Marshall location has generally not been as good as the Jackson location. The last time we went to the Marshall location, we were not happy. The food was very mediocre, and despite the fact that there wasn't much of a crowd, the service was really slow. The last I checked, the Marshall location was closed while management works out the kinks. I hope they figure it out, and reopen with an improved kitchen and better trained waitstaff. Wow the food here is Ahmaaazingly delicious. I'm from Chicago and we were on our way to Ann Arbor, MI but it was time to head to lunch before we hit our destination. We decided to make a pit stop to Grand River Brewery. The food is well prepared and prices are reasonable. I was really impressed with the fish sandwich topped w an egg and sriracha sauce. We were going there anyway but Grand River and SCHULERS were the only places open in the WHOLE TOWN on July 4th. Crazy, right!!!! Waitress was new but she was pretty good. Anything she didn't know - she found out and was right back at our table. It was $5 Margarita night ( Yes, Please!) and we both got burgers and fries. Yummy! Stopped for gas off 94 and had full intention to continue on our 30 min journey up the road but the sign for a brewery caught our eye and the website images made me salivate. The service was friendly but slow. It was a Tuesday evening and not that busy from what I could tell. I agree with other reviews I've read; the food is expensive for what it is. My husband and I ended up getting tacos for taco Tuesday. I got the brisket. He got the fish. They both had good flavor, but the shells were awful. Tough. Chewy. Cold. It's almost like they were stale. It was a beautiful evening to eat outside but unfortunately GRB let all of their flowers die. The first table we sat at was dirty, but the one next to it was fine so we sat there. We hadn't been to GRB in a while, so we thought we'd give it another try. We used to make this our "go to" place in Marshall, but unfortunately that probably is at an end. We went there on a Sunday evening. The drinks seemed to be watered down. The service took forever (we were there for almost 2 hours) and the food, when it finally came, was wrong and not good, as in cheeseburger with no cheese. My wife's barbecue sandwich was dry and crispy. The fries were soggy and cold. My "fixed" cheeseburger took another 30 minutes which meant my wife had finished. There's something about historical downtown Marshall that screams brewery. This location has been a couple of failed taverns before, but it seems the third times the charm. The owners preserved some of the buildings 100 year old merchantile charm which really adds to the whole experience. They've even expanded out onto the sidewalk and side street to accommodate the crowds on busier nights. Parking can be sketchy at times, but the added walk is tolerable with all the other business along the way. Besides, it's a good way to walk off some of the awesome food. After visiting a few times, I felt comfortable enough to give an honest review. This last time I ordered the Heart Attack Mac. As with all my previous meals here, they certainly didn't disappoint. My meal was flavorful, and went well with the few craft brews I had along the way. Plan on spending about $20 per person for dinner and a beer. Obviously depending on what you order. Lots of choices on the food and drink menu. The place is clean. The waitstaff has always been polite and very helpful. Definitely a stop if your in town. GRB is our go to meet-up spot in Jackson, with family and friends that come from southern Michigan. Great space for groups, great food and drink options. It's brewery, however, they have a full bar, and even a great selection of wine. The smoked fish chowder is fantastic. The dishes are inventive and well executed. I can always find something that is super tasty and fits the current craving. The chef keeps up with seasonally fresh local ingredients. It's loud and crowded. Great for families, groups, or just a couple looking for a good meal. Add your name to the waitlist on Yelp to avoid having to wait a while when you arrive. It's really a useful tool. We visit about once a month. The rib-eye steak is great and flavorful. They generally get the temp correct and I can never finish a plate. The fried fish is hearty and as you would expect: crunchy coating with large bright flaky fish inside. Not too greasy. The seasonal items are my go to, as they are usually outstanding. Watermelon gazpacho, an inventive flat bread of the week, or seasons veggie quesadilla. Don't skip their craft cocktails. The manhattans are fantastic. They have seasonal cocktails too, that really hit the spot. They have a large space with private dining options for parties and a large patio to enjoy the outside during your visit. Thankfully it's usually shaded by the building or there are umbrellas. Easy to find in downtown Jackson. Definitely one of our favorite spots. read more

I had a great dinner at Grand River this evening. Top notch service from the bartender who filled in because the waitress for my area was otherwise tied up with a large party. He was attentive and helpful with getting me refills and clearing away empties. The reason there are no menus posted for Grand River is because they don't have printed menus. Everything, including beer and wine lists, appetizers, mains and desserts are all on their iPads that the hostess hands out when you're seated. I found this super useful as the device listed all the tasting notes for the beers, made recommendations and did just about everything but actually order the food. You still need a waitperson for that. I had the chicken wings to start and they were tasty and meaty. Strangely, sauce on the side which was different but the wings dipped just fine. "Hot" on one small pot and "Blue cheese" in another. For main course, the Cobb salad was excellent. One small substitution was that I requested it be tossed in blue cheese instead of ranch. A good portion and lots of "not lettuce" in this bowl including chopped eggs, chopped tomatoes, avocado, bacon, chicken and blue cheese. Very tasty and I cleared the bowl. Of course, it's a brewery and I enjoyed a half pint of the Pepino Loco Cucumber Lime Wheat and another half pint of the Lake Rat American Ale. Both were tasty and not especially keto friendly. So disappointed! We've eaten here before and enjoyed our meal. Today was absolutely awful. We were told we couldn't get a table for 25 minutes. I asked if they were short staffed, but was told that wasn't the case, just a large group that came in. This was on Saturday at 12:30 pm. The restaurant was 2/3 empty! We waited more than 30 minutes, got a table, but waited 10 minutes for anyone to take our order. Finally gave up and left without ordering. It was obvious there weren't enough people working! Well, it was not good. The asparagus was super but Just 4 pieces. The mash potatoes were decent. The ribs were not so good. Just tough. I asked her if they would be "fall off the bones" and she said yes. But they most definitely were not. Lol. The best line of the night was a table neighbor who asked what I thought of the ribs and I repeated that I thought they were not fall off the ribs. I really liked this place because they let us make a reservation for a big group that was coming in on a Saturday evening. I shared the poutine fries with a friend. We felt there could have been more cheese chunks and gravy. The Santa Fe chicken wrap was pretty good, it also could have used more sauce/dressing. My friend got the Santa Fe check me salad and the rub or seasoning that was on it was much to spicy so she could barley eat it. Then our pretzel appetizer took almost 40 minutes. Had to ask our server what was up. Eventually manager brought it out and said she would take it off the bill. That was nice but then our food took another 20 minutes after that... had to go and ask about it as well. Amazingly, it was also taken off our bill, so we paid only for drinks. Very nice of them to do that without us even asking, but no one apologized. No one said, "Hey, sorry for the wait, it's slow in the kitchen right now." Such a simple thing, but no.
