A fun and cozy spot for hangout with friends or date night! I had never heard of this bar before coming here. There are booths next to the window and a pool table in the corner on the other side. They have a booth to order tacos from too. If you go out the door behind the bar, you can access the outdoor patio, which has a few tables and a large area with comfy looking red couches. Going up the stairs by the front entrance, you gain access to a second bar, a big circular area with seating around it, a few more tables, and an outdoor balcony. Now that I think about it, this place has it all. I tried one of their daiquiris which was poured with a heavy hand. Bartenders and staff were friendly. Parking is the only challenge here. A very peculiar bar tucked away betwix a neighborhood and a school. It was clearly previously a house that has now been transformed into a bar. When you walk in there is a smaller bar on the 1st floor and seating available. When you go upstairs there is a dance floor a large booth to your left and a Dj playing a mix of song that give EDM. Just updating my review to write what I though of the Umbrella Fella's fare, which I just tried for the first time, as an addendum to my previous review. My partner and I have been to this bar multiple times and used to love coming here. The cocktails, food, and vibes were great. In the past the crowd had been diverse/eclectic. We stopped by last night and it was VERY apparent that kids with fake IDs had found this bar. There was at least 60 kids in there that looked about 19 years old, and as we were leaving there was a very young kid slumped over on the steps outside the bar alone. Clearly over served. When we tried to help him get an uber, he in fact had 2 IDs in his wallet. He kept falling over and then proceeded to throw up on himself. Came here after Christmas because we all need a break from the holiday. Met up with some old friends and did happy hour. I had not one but TWO of the outdoor couch, which was dangerously good. Got a little hungry so we ordered food from umbrella fellas. I had the hotdog with the Houston toppings. The cheese fries weren't bad but need more cheese. Service was alright, the bar was packed so it took a while to get drinks ordered. Parking was a bit difficult, read the signs and make sure you don't block any residence or business driveway/parking lots. Great ambiance, with an upstairs that also leads to an open-air patio overlooking Bell Park. Bottom floor is definitely on the darker side in terms of lighting with ample bar seats available. As for food they work with a variety of Food Trucks who contract with this bar, but there will only be 1 truck on a given night. Drink prices are what you'd expect from this area, I'm not sure if there are drink specials. Another thing of note is they are about a block or two away from another chill Bar/Restaurant 'Betelgeuse, Betelgeuse' which runs along Montrose if you want a late & to keep the party going. read more

When we asked an older male bartender for help, he completely disregarded us and acted annoyed that we even asked, saying he won't do anything about it. If you love bourbon, you're in for a treat. This hidden gem of a bar has an amazing selection of rare and premium bottles that you can sample before you run to a store to hunt for a bottle to buy. I was blown away by the quality and variety of their offerings. I had a pour of the Brookers Whisky, and it was smooth and delicious. The staff here are super friendly and knowledgeable. Megan was my bartender, and she gave me some tips on what to try next and what events they have coming up. They have a regular DJ and a cool vibe. You can also snap some photos with their awesome dark and moody decor. The only catch is that there is no sign, so you have to use your GPS to find the place. But trust me, it's worth it. I stumbled upon the gem while on a walk from my Air BnB during a recent visit to Houston. The lights from the outside beckoned so I had to check it out, and really glad I did! It's the perfect amount of divey, dark, punk and unassuming. All the things I love most in a good bar. If I lived anywhere near Houston, this will undoubtedly be my go to spit. I was looking for a new place to check out close to Midtown and saw this on yelp. The first thing that hit us when we walked in was the stench of PISS. It's very noticeable, and we decided to continue to stay (to give it a chance) but drink on the upstairs deck which is outside. Drinks were a little pricey for the quality of the bar as well. The cocktail selection wasn't huge but the cocktail with the watermelon vodka and basil seeds was amazing! There was outdoor seating but we were told it was full and so we snagged a seat indoors. However, as people piled in lots of people were getting seated outdoors which and we were never offered a seat outdoors as that was our first choice. So honestly this is one of my favorite bars in houston! A lot of it has to do with two of my favorite bartenders I've been following for years! Amazing talent, creativity, service, attitude, honesty, and respect for their profession! Shane and Marla are so amazing! Marla, is very quick to take care of everyone, set her Boundaries, cut someone off for their own good, and give you the best welcoming! Even when some customers can be very entitled! Spirits and selections:This bar has a phenomenal selection of spirits and beers for one! And not you're basic type either! And as an agave fanatic I love that they have such an amazing selection in agaves! They also range in a selection of sake and diversity in their beer! I've had nothing but good experiences here even though I've encountered some well-lit folks while there, but that is just a sign that the bar tenders pour fairly and that people definitely come here for a good time. On the weekends, or on specific days they have the upstairs bar for dj music/dancing and a drag show on (Tue or Wed) nights. I forget. Lots of regulars here as I've noticed the bartenders welcoming people coming in, by their name, and even knowing what their drink is before they even order it. All in all, this place has good energy. Came here with a friend for a nightcap. It's right across the street from Chelsea Apartment Complex in a residential neighborhood. There is only street parking. The place for sure has dive bar vibes. There is a pool table and a jukebox. It has a large bar that you can sit at but not too many tables. I loved all the. lights and decorations. A lot of beer on tap and very great craft cocktails. I arrived last night at grand prize and the scanners they use to check id's are NOT ACCURATE ! I just recently turned 22 years old and they scanned my id and claimed it was "fake" all because their scanners said it was. Doesn't make any sense at all, in this particular situation I had 2 id's on my person. Reason being I lost my 2021 issued id and ordered a second from the dmv and it was issued 2023. Later on I wound up finding my original id and ended up keeping both ids altogether. I used the 2023 one and the bouncer denied my entry due to the scanner saying it was "fake". Drove back 20 minutes to my apartment to retrieve my 2021 issued id, drove all the way back, then used my 2021 issued id for the scanning process and it still said that it was a "fake" ! Ive came to this bar, and never had an issue entering before in the past. They'd look at my id and just let me in, but the scanner made it really difficult for me to enter the bar last night when I'm 22 years old ! I was extremely upset and they only let me in because there was this drunk guy on the patio bothering the bouncer in the midst of me explaining to him that my id is real. The bouncer then tried to get me to say that both of the ids I presented were "fake". Whole time they both are government issued ids ! read more

The place is decked out with colorful lights all year long. It has been a safe haven and a neighborhood favorite, the perfect spot to chill on a weekday night or on weekends. So if you're going to serve food, and you're going to be known for it and advertise it and claim to have one of the best burgers around (when in fact you don't), then you have to figure out your logistics so that people like us who drive all the way to your place to try your damn burger, can have a damn burger. It's quirky, interesting and so much fun to hang out in and change up the scenery from trendy, uppity places. The drinks are cheap, there's happy hour everyday from 4-8. $4 jello shots. What more could you want?! There are two bars: one downstairs and one upstairs. There is a pool table and some video games downstairs, which is cute for a date or to kill some time.
