Wonderful restaurant that raises the standard in this part of New England for Indian cuisine. It was a bit out of my usual neighborhood and so it took a while to uncover. But finally I did and boy am I happy. Very much a family affair - husband and wife who share maitre'd and server responsibilities. And other relatives in the kitchen cooking up a storm. What first grabbed my attention were the huge number of dosas they offer. Seeing any dosa on a menu at all is a rarity and so to see the wide variety they feature was amazing. I opted for the Andhra Kara Masala and it was excellent. The dosa itself crispy and warm and the condiments beautifully integrated. We opted for the mixed veggie pakoras as an appetizer on the recommendation of the owner and they were served warm and crispy. The batter was light - nothing like the thick sludge that usually adorns the deep fried nuggets of vegetable delight. The accompanying tamarind sauce was sweet and clean and the mint-cilantro suitably refreshing. Lovey got garlic naan and saag paneer. Smooth and creamy, the saag was exactly as hoped for and the garlic naan was chewy, warm and toothsome. Dessert was carrot halwa. Hard to believe carrots make such an excellent warm dessert but they do. Richly satisfying with just the right touch of sweetness. We were visiting our grandchildren (& their parents, of course). My daughter went to a dance performance with 2 of the kids; we went out for dinner with son-in-law and one grandson who chose this restaurant. It's a place his dad has taken him to before and he loves it! We go for Indian food occasionally and we like it, so off we went to Salem NH. Grandson ordered a dosa for all of us as an appetizer, something with chopped onions, it was pretty good. My dish was the saag paneer, which I ordered what they call "American spicy." Spicy? Not! If I go back, I'd order Indian Medium Spicy! My husband liked his chana masala. Both were served with white rice. My son-in-law had a korma dish, I don't remember which one, Indian medium spicy, loved it, and he ordered garlic naan. We ordered roti. My grandson is gluten free and dairy free. I don't remember what he ate, but he's all in when he's predisposed to liking something, so I only remember that he was happy with it! We love the carrot halwa at our local favorite Indian restaurant in midtown Manhattan, so we ordered it for all 4 of us. It was much sweeter than we're used to; tasty but too sweet to finish. I can't believe I waited this long to try Grand India! Not only is the menu huge and food excellent, but the combo of different regional cuisine options is impressive. There are whole sections for idli, dosa and Indo-Chinese style dishes. We went for the Paneer Dosa and Indo-Chinese Sichuan style noodles and both were fabulous "would-get-again" dishes. Note: Spice levels were described to us a "mild", "medium", "hot" and "Indian hot". Chai was tasty and I loved that it wasn't very sweet but left to me if I chose to sweeten it. The restaurant has a good amount of convenient shared parking. It's a cute place, smaller than I expected from the size of the menu, but comfortable and simply and tastefully decorated. Delicious Indian Food My daughter and I dined there on Sept 20, 2025 and were happy with our food choices, which included lamb korma, naan and spinach masala dosa. My daughter said the naan was the best she has ever had. I was pleased to have the option of dosas, which are more typical of southern India and not as common on the menu of other Indian restaurants we have been to. I enjoyed my dosa very much. We both had mango lassi which is one of our favorites. We also had Gulab jamun, an Indian sweet, which gave a nice finish to our meal. We will definitely return to Grand India. The Grand India is hands down THE best Indian restaurant I have EVER been to. I've lived all over Boston, New England, and NYC, they blow every other Indian restaurant out of the water by a million miles! This place is so incredibly authentic, and truly delicious. I've been over 15 times and I've never, ever been disappointed. I really believe they deserve 3 Michelin Stars and I'm being so serious. They offer tons of celiac safe options, humanely sourced/Halal meats, and lots of vegetarian and vegan options too! My favorite things are the chili idlis (spicy rice cakes) Onion Baji (like fried onion rings but make it Indian) the Rasam soup, this battered/fried jalapeño dish I forget the name of rn, the Dosas, the Lamb Kadai, and the classics are all perfect, like the Paneer Tikka Massala, Shahi Panner Korma, Bindhi Vindaloo and more. The takeout service was fast and friendly, but unfortunately, the Indian cuisine was pretty bland. Their medium-level spice is as spicy as ketchup, and their hot is less spicy than tobacco or sriracha. Chicken tikka masala was much more sweet-tasting than I'm used to. Their white rice is just boiled rice without any of aromatics. Their garlic naan is also underseasoned. read more

Vegetable Pakor appetizer was ok. Salmon Tandoori was cooked nicely and tasty but we found the total dish on the dry side, a Tandoori sauce would've made a big difference. Tried this place out for the first time tonight, and it did not disappoint! We ordered a couple of different appetizers and two entrees and everything was delicious. When I went in to pick up the food, the two people working behind the bar were so friendly. We chatted about how different Indian egg dishes are made, and it made me excited to come back and try again--which, after trying the food, we certainly will be doing! The food here is tremendous! I got chicken tikka masala, my go to when I get Indian food and chicken 555 both medium hot served with rice and I got naan bread. My wife is gluten free and allergic to garlic. It's often hard for her to find tasty things to eat other than salads or plain protein. She got fried paneer with a dipping sauce and lentil curry with rice. She loved it as well. Very tasty stuff! Service was great too! Everyone was very attentive. The restaurant is small and nothing fancy but clean. It wasn't very crowded but they do a very steady takeout business. Bathroom was super clean and all around a great experience. read more

Authentic South Indian Flavors with a Northern Twist! During my trip to Boston, I stumbled upon this restaurant through a Google search--only to realize it's actually in New Hampshire! Since it was just 11:30 AM and I had a long drive ahead, I decided to stop by for some dosas. I expected to be the first customer, but a couple had already settled in. I was warmly greeted by Sindhu, a friendly and pleasant waitress, seated me at the first table--interestingly labeled as Table 14! I ordered a Masala Dosa with Podi and Coffee, and I must say, the flavors were fantastic! The podi had an authentic South Indian punch, while the potato masala carried a subtle North Indian influence, making for a unique and delicious combination. The spicy tomato chutney was spot on, adding the right amount of heat. The only minor hiccup was that the dosa slightly stuck to the plate, requiring a bit of effort to scrape off with a fork. The coffee was simply superb--so much so that I ordered another one before heading out! If you find yourself in this area, I highly recommend stopping by for a taste of South Indian goodness. We usually order from Kashmir in Salem, NH and have never been disappointed, but we wanted to try Grand India because it's a little closer to home. Mistakes were made! Grand Indian was a disappointment. To start, we ordered through their website, totally ok with waiting for delivery...but then got a call 40min later that our order wasn't picked up by DoorDash. DoorDash?? We ordered through the Grand India website and there was no mention of DoorDash. We would have used our account/coupons. So he calls, says it wasn't picked up, we asked for clarification about the delivery and he hung up. Seconds later, we got a notification saying our order was picked up. Could have told us that instead of hanging up. Ok, awful ordering experience, almost an hour for delivery, but it's all about the food, right? We were still excited to try....and weren't impressed. The samosas were salty, palak paneer wasn't flavorful and the Malia kofta wasn't that great either. Ordered two type of naan bread - garlic and rosemary. Both were ok, but very different consistency. Garlic was light and fluffy, rosemary was more chewy like a pizza crust. Overall, we were not impressed with the food and the ordering/delivery was a hassle. Next time we're craving Indian, we'll head to Kashmir. read more

The chicken 65 is one of the best I've had, and I never feel rushed or burdened. It's like eating at home but I don't have to do the dishes. We had a very nice meal at the new Grand India which now open in the former Trios, Rockingham DIner Space in the Breakenridge plaze on North Broadway. Only opened four days ago, this family is still working out the kinks but the food we had was really authientic and delish AND at fair price point. We had the veg dosas (2) which came with the usual tamarind and cilantro sauces. Entrees includes channa marsala, saag paneer, and chicken tiki marsala. RIce came with the meals. Grand India opened in Salem, in the former Trio's Cafe & Cantina space. This cozy restaurant offers dine-in and takeout for lunch and dinner serving Indian cuisine. I stopped in here for lunch on opening day and at the time of this posting, they were only serving Lunch Combos ($9.99 plus tax), vegetarian or non-vegetarian. I was brought out water and I ordered the Non-vegetarian Combo, which included chicken biryani and sides of spicy chicken bites, daal, chicken Tikka masala, hot naan bread, and one gulab jamun ball. A small mango lassi drink was included too. My food was served to me on a big metal tray in about 3 minutes and the main entree portion with sides and naan were generous. The chicken on bone over the biryani rice was very tender and juicy. The food was moderately spicy tasting combined with the sweet flavors of the mango lassi and gulab jamun. The hot naan bread was soft and great for dipping up the saucy sides. The owner checked up on me and they were still testing out the Clover ordering system which enables customers to pay online by scanning the QR code on the receipt. Overall, I think they read my mind as I walked in because I was hoping I could order a lunch combo since I did not feel like ordering things a la carte for lunch.
