This is my first visit to this place and we a bunch of 9 friends had gone for the Holi party hosted here .. when we arrived we were disappointed looking at the size of the tent and heaters. .since it seemed small.. n the line for food was pretty long.. more challenging was trying to find a place to sit n eat.. having around 250 intake for the event it seemed extremely cringing .. all this set my expectations pretty low. We first went for the food and somehow managed to get a table of 6 for 9 of us n since we were ready to adjust it was manageable.. the food was quite impressive...so that boosted out energy by a bit.. few items were over around 1 30 itself but still we had few items that we could savour n eat.. like biriyani rice , kheer, chicken curry, goat curry, naan, palak corn etc etc. Next was the color fest celebration!! We went with no expectations n somehow the space worked out just fine .. there were ppl goin in n out of the tent playing or running around so those who wanted to stay inside had room to do so.. There was music n if you're there to have fun..all that matters with who u go with .. the heaters I'm not sure if they were working but due to the crowd it did not feel that cold .. If u are fine with the Holi congestion from India I'm sure you can enjoy the same atmosphere on a small scale here and yes if u have fun ppl around it's gonna be fun anyway.. it's just powder colors so don't expect anything more than that or bhaang n all.. well if yo abroad n if yo in this east coast this is definitely something better.. Just go with the right ppl on such events .. Suggestions: restrooms can be better maintained for such events .. there were no napkins.. imagine no napkins on an event like this where everyone have to drive back home.. for the amount charged u can definitely keep an unlimited supply of napkins n maybe in multiple counters.. thanks for the spitoons ..

Lots of authentic choices, authentic Bollywood ambiance and great service! Got something I hadn't seen before and was delicious

Very delicious food! Would recommend a Friday after work or a Saturday late brunch. Great customer service and oh did I mention how delicious the food was? Wink

Given the location of this restaurant (in a Market Basket strip mall), there was an amazing amount of space. The waiter helped us find some mild dishes for our first Indian food experience. He was a bit soft spoken, but attentive. You can see the cooks working through a large window rolling dough and prepping other fare in the rear - kind of neat! The bathrooms were clean. The food was all good and well priced. I would certainly bring guests here. My only complaint is that the decor looks very tired and could use some updating. I plan to come back soon!

I don't know what has taken me so long to write a review of Bollywood Grill. We've now eaten there at least a dozen times--both for dinner and for the lunch buffet--since our maiden visit this past December. Since discovering Bollywood, we have not returned to Passage to India in Salem or Anmol in Beverly. Yeah, it's located in a strip mall on the Lawrence/North Andover line, but all I must say about that is don't judge a book by its cover. And one of the virtues of the strip mall location is parking is not an issue. Our "go to" entree dishes thus far have been the Special Goat Curry (#1), Lamb Tikka Kebab, Chicken Vindaloo, Chicken Narattan, and Lamb Balti. For the veggies, we've enjoyed the Novratana Korma (mixed veg), Baingan Bharta (eggplant), Shaahi Bhindi (okra), Dhingri Dulma (mushrooms and cheese), and Palak Paneer (spinach and cheese). We've also tried the Special Goat Biryani, which was delightfully spicy and flavorful, but ordering a rice dish on top of the basmati rice that is already served felt like we had a little too much rice on the table. Another plus is that the food is perfectly seasoned. I've never once left feeling that I needed to drink a gallon of water to dilute the excess salt that's often in restaurant food. On our very first trip, we did try the Combo Platter, just to compare the offerings to Passage to India and Anmol, and we felt the Bollywood version was fresher and lighter. We've since skipped appetizers so we can add a second entree along with a veg dish (perfect for 2 adults and 1 child) to complement the basmati rice as well as a couple of orders of naan (usually one Rogini and one Garlic). Whenever we want to go out to eat and we're looking for hearty, healthy family-style fare, Bollywood is always in the running.

But finally I did and boy am I happy. Very much a family affair - husband and wife who share maitre'd and server responsibilities. And other relatives in the kitchen cooking up a storm. What first grabbed my attention were the huge number of dosas they offer. Seeing any dosa on a menu at all is a rarity and so to see the wide variety they feature was amazing. I opted for the Andhra Kara Masala and it was excellent. The dosa itself crispy and warm and the condiments beautifully integrated. We opted for the mixed veggie pakoras as an appetizer on the recommendation of the owner and they were served warm and crispy. The batter was light - nothing like the thick sludge that usually adorns the deep fried nuggets of vegetable delight. The accompanying tamarind sauce was sweet and clean and the mint-cilantro suitably refreshing. Lovey got garlic naan and saag paneer. Smooth and creamy, the saag was exactly as hoped for and the garlic naan was chewy, warm and toothsome. Dessert was carrot halwa. Hard to believe carrots make such an excellent warm dessert but they do. Richly satisfying with just the right touch of sweetness. We look forward to returning and sampling the rest of the menu!

It's a place his dad has taken him to before and he loves it! We go for Indian food occasionally and we like it, so off we went to Salem NH. Grandson ordered a dosa for all of us as an appetizer, something with chopped onions, it was pretty good. My dish was the saag paneer, which I ordered what they call "American spicy." Spicy? Not! If I go back, I'd order Indian Medium Spicy! My husband liked his chana masala. Both were served with white rice. My son-in-law had a korma dish, I don't remember which one, Indian medium spicy, loved it, and he ordered garlic naan. We ordered roti. My grandson is gluten free and dairy free. I don't remember what he ate, but he's all in when he's predisposed to liking something, so I only remember that he was happy with it! We love the carrot halwa at our local favorite Indian restaurant in midtown Manhattan, so we ordered it for all 4 of us. It was much sweeter than we're used to; tasty but too sweet to finish. Anyway, it's a good local choice up there and my grandson chose it again just the other day for his birthday dinner out!

The Naanza is absolutely delicious, every flavor is bursting through and the textures are perfection, would highly recommend. The chopped kachumber salad was very fresh. For drinks I ordered the lychee martini and chai-tini buzz. The lychee martini was a little too sweet and the chai martini was too milky for my liking. There are a lot of interesting cocktails on the menu so I'd like to try something different next time. For food I ordered the Samosa Bliss and the iron pan (kadhai) hit with paneer and a side of garlic naan. The samosas were delicious: crispy on the outside and well-seasoned on the inside with a tangy sauce. The paneer was excellent in terms of portion size and texture. I would have preferred basmati rice with the entree instead of the yellow rice and more garlic on the naan, but overall it was a satisfying meal. There isn't a dessert menu but they have a case with a variety of Indian sweets. Service was very attentive and felt like you were eating at a family's home. Lots of nearby street parking. As with many older New England buildings, the entrance is a little tight and has a few steps so it may be difficult for some people to enter. I look forward to visiting again!

I'd never tried Rupee beer and was delighted to find that it has a good taste, kind of similar to a Blue Moon. My friend got the mango margarita and said he tasted like a basic puree. I love onions and look forward to trying this dish again. I got the chicken korma, a dish I've been interested in trying for some time now. I hope that all chicken kormas are like this one because the flavor was absolutely incredible! It's creamy cashew sauce with cubed chicken. I got mine at a medium spice level and it was perfect. The dish was really layered in its flavors with the cashew flavor not being over powering. The restaurant is a pretty nice size, with plenty of tables and room for many guests. The bar is small and the drinks took a while, but we came at the end of the night and I think there were only two people working the front. We dined fairly early on a Friday evening and the restaurant quickly filled up. Since they are not located on the beach, there is plenty of parking. This location was formerly a pizza hut, but they did a nice job converting to a pleasant dining room. Service was very friendly, pleasant and efficient, and we enjoyed all the food we ordered. As others mention, portions are large (we took food home), and we found the prices to be fair, given the ever increasing cost of food lately. We started with an order of Pakora and onion bhaji. When the dish arrived I thought we were given the wrong order as the plate had what looked like patties, and not the usual shape of these items that we have had at other Indian restaurants. Appearance aside, we found them to taste as we expected. Perhaps a regional difference? We stuck to some of the more common dishes we have ordered so that we could compare to other restaurants. Chicken Tikka Masala and Palak Paneer were both delicious. The menu has everything that you might expect as well as some dishes I've not had. Extensive Biryani and Tandoori offerings as well. We are looking forward to trying some new dishes when we visit again. Give them a try, something new and different for Hampton!
