Messaged Total Piano Care and tried to get them to come out before the concert the same day and fortunately there was enough time in between clients to squeeze us in. Came by and was extremely polite and professional, examined the piano, answered all of my relevant and not so relevant questions thoroughly and thoughtfully, and saw the problem was minor and got the piano working for the concert! Watching him work, there was no doubt he was extremely familiar with the Steinway and worked with many Steinway Grands. Knew about all of the things that were wrong and recommended a few minor repairs to prevent further damage. So happy it worked out with Total Piano care. Great communication and caring too! In case he wasn't able to come out in short notice, he even referred me to another company. Thankfully he came by and based on my experience, I can't refer you to anyone better.

Not only were their prices higher but I wasn't left with the confidence the piano would be in good hands. I knew enough to know that you can screw up a piano if it is improperly moved and transported. Then I found Josh and JT Piano Services. Josh has been tuning and moving pianos for many years and mentioned he grew up with his father having been a lifelong piano tuner. He definitely knows his craft. He took the time to explain the process to me and tell me what would be involved. He gave me a great price and we agreed on a time to meet at the seller's home to pick it up. Josh and his crew arrived early, followed covid safety precautions and carefully loaded the piano. They drove the piano 50 miles from Yucca Valley to my house in La Quinta and had it set up in no time. He then took the time to tell me about my piano and he inspected it. He found a few places where things needed to be tightened up and he did it for me there on the spot. His two employees are very careful and I could tell they were experienced. Couldn't be happier with the service. I have hired him to come back in December after the piano settles and adjusts to humidity changes and he will spend a day going over the entire piano and fine tuning it.

We were pretty good about having it tuned every year until we moved to Canyon Lake seven years ago. First wanted to wait until it acclimated to the new climate, and then became lazy, and then didn't know who to call, etc., etc., etc. This past weekend our six-year old granddaughter was plinking out "Twinkle, Twinkle". She was playing the correct notes and I was cringing.... decided that it was time to bite the bullet and get it tuned. Checked around on Yelp and found Norm. He came out yesterday. Piano tuning has certainly changed in the past few years! He set up his laptop with a microphone inside the cavity, isolated the strings, and started striking the keys. We were able to watch the target pitch on the computer screen move into the "perfect-center" position as he adjusted the tension with his wrench. I was fascinated! It took about an hour and a half for this initial procedure. He then went outside to clear his head and returned to fine-tune everything - took another 15-30 minutes. I could not he happier! I do not remember this piano sounding this good, and I have been playing it for over half a century! It has made me want to start practicing and playing again. And not only that, but Norman is a very nice man! Highly, highly recommend!
