We were renting a car to drive and explore MT for the weekend. When I was searching for estimates on rentals, the online system asked for the pick up / drop off days and times. It then provided me a estimated rental rate. When I dropped off the car a day early, my final bill was $100 more than my estimate. After going back and forth over the past week with Avis' customer service, I have learned that the rate was mileage based. I told them that was never disclosed to me when reserving. There claim is "yes" it was because if I look at the fine print it says "mileage: LL-MI". Really!? That is disclosure? They refuse to adjust the price to a daily rate and insist this "code" provides full disclosure. I will NEVER rent from them again and earn others to be explicit about rate calculations if you must rent from them. Back to Enterprise for me!

I called the "immediate assistance number" and got no response. I searched around the grounds and found no one. Finally after 25 minutes I left the keys with a note explaining the situation. The employees LIED and charged me, saying they were only gone for ten minutes. They also charged me for gas even though I returned the car as full as it would allow me to fill it, about 7/8ths full. I tried multiple gas pumps and it would not take anymore. There was no one in the office for me to even talk to about this issue with. I have never experienced this level of dishonesty and poor customer service anywhere else, with no exaggeration. I've filed grievances with both the FEC and Attorney Generals office along with Avis corporate. Absolutely unacceptable.

    Worst car rental experience!…read more Due to an accident, I needed a rental and this location was the closest to the body shop to which I need to drop my car off at. I was told multiple times by the employee of this location that the day of my pick up, I would be getting a luxury SUV. The day before my pick up, I verified once again and was told the luxury SUV would be a Q7. The day of the pick up I arrived at 4PM, and was told no luxury SUV is available. They stated I was supposed to show up at 12PM but we had not agreed on a time the day before? After trying to find other locations in the area with luxury SUV. The agent came out and said they have located a luxury vehicle for me. Due to being short on time and needing to drop off my vehicle to the body shop, I agreed to take the vehicle. The vehicle was extremely dirty inside/out and smelled heavily of smoke. Again, due to time crunch, I drove off. Unable to stand the state of the car, I resorted to getting it cleaned from my own pocket and even purchased air freshener so the smell could go away. Two days in, the tire light and the vehicle's oil change light came on. I called the rental location and was told it's perfectly fine and I can drive the vehicle as normal. I'd attempted to get replacement as I was completely fed up with the issues this rental was causing me and was told they don't have any vehicle available. I called multiple other locations and kept hitting the same wall but when I went online to research the location for rental they had multiple options available for rental. In my opinion, if you are renting due to an accident, they give you the ones that are not getting rented. Regardless, the state of the rental was just unacceptable. Do better. By far this has been the worst experience of my life with a rental company.

Hertz worked seamlessly with my insurance company while my personal vehicle was being repaired. There were a few hiccups with getting the car itself: the Hertz corporate phone representative promised me a different time than when a car was actually available at the shop, and directly contacting the shop on the phone was difficult (the main line goes to prerecorded messages). However, the guy at the shop managed to secure an earlier car for me at the last minute, which I appreciated. They seem to use some kind of cleaner with a very strong scent here. As other reviews have said, my car came with that scent--like an intense grandma air freshener covering cigarette smoke. It wouldn't go away after two weeks. But otherwise, the vehicle was clean inside and worked fine. It was also very easy to pick up and drop off in the garage in this shopping area.
