Extremely poor customer service and lack of transparency at this Enterprise location…read more I arrived around 1:00 PM during a holiday week after Enterprise picked me up from Mercedes-Benz Collision for a rental covered by insurance. I was told digital IDs were not accepted. I offered my passport, which Olivia stated was also unacceptable. I was instructed to return with my physical ID and was not informed of any additional requirements. After returning later the same day during rush hour I was assisted by Keith, who was dismissive and unhelpful. I was told only one car (a Hyundai) was available, despite having an insurance-approved reservation. At that point, I was suddenly told a deposit was required, something that was never disclosed earlier. When I asked to speak with a supervisor, Keith stated he was the manager and resisted escalating the issue. After multiple requests, I spoke with Nick, who offered no resolution. As a result, I had to retrieve my vehicle from Mercedes-Benz Collision for the second time and delay repairs entirely. The lack of communication, professionalism, and basic courtesy at this location was unacceptable. I would not recommend this branch and will not rent here again.

Today, I was transferred at least 12 times while trying to get assistance. Unfortunately, out of the first 11 representatives I spoke with, many were unhelpful and lacked the level of customer service I desperately needed. By the time I reached Ms. Tonya, I was frustrated and exhausted. However, Ms. Tonya completely changed my experience. She went above and beyond to make sure my issue was resolved. She took the time to listen, showed genuine compassion, and worked diligently to get me the confirmation I needed and ensure that I was removed from the list. She did not rush me off the phone or treat me like just another caller. Instead, she treated me with kindness, professionalism, and respect. In a world where excellent customer service can sometimes be hard to find, Ms. Tonya truly stands out. Her dedication, patience, and willingness to help are a reflection of the highest standard of service. Because of her, what started as a very frustrating experience ended with relief and gratitude. Ms. Tonya, thank you from the bottom of my heart. I am incredibly grateful for everything you did for me today. I pray that God continues to bless you, your family, and your career. You are beyond amazing, and Enterprise is fortunate to have someone like you representing their company. Please make sure this recognition reaches the appropriate leadership team because exceptional employees like Ms. Tonya deserve to be celebrated. With sincere appreciation, Ashley

We recently rented a vehicle from Enterprise Rent-A-Car at Ronald Reagan Washington National…read moreAirport and had a disappointing experience with one of the representatives, Gustavon. During the rental process, Gustavon was very persistent in trying to upsell additional insurance coverage at an extra cost of $30 per day. We clearly explained multiple times that we already have full coverage through our GEICO policy, but the pressure continued. What stood out most was the tone and approach -- it felt less like a recommendation and more like pressure. When handing us the rental agreement, he also made a point to highlight the items we had declined, which felt unnecessary and added to the discomfort. At one point, it also seemed like our out-of-state driver's licenses (South Dakota) were being used as a reason to push the extra coverage more aggressively, which didn't sit right with us. We understand that offering additional coverage is part of the process, but there is a clear line between informing customers and continuing to push after a decision has been made. Unfortunately, this experience crossed that line for us. We hope management takes this feedback seriously and reinforces a more respectful, customer-focused approach moving forward.

It's a small place that's sort of shoe-horned into Clarendon, but the place was clean and the staff was friendly. I was in and out within 10 minutes tops. I had had a bad experience with another car rental place (Budget) a few years ago where they snuck some liability insurance that I had not requested onto my bill, so I made a big deal about the fact that I did not want to purchase any insurance and was assured by a gentleman that I would not pay anymore than the amount I had already prepaid. The car was in excellent condition and I was very satisfied with the rental. However, when I returned the car the lady behind the counter informed me that I owed over $100 for liability insurance. I told her that, not only had I not requested it, I had made a big point of getting assured that I would not be billed for any insurance. She was very apologetic and quickly took it off my bill, but I could tell from the way she acted that this was probably something that occurs all too often. If not for the attempted insurance billing scam, I'd give the place 3 stars. The parking lot is small, but the staff was friendly and efficient and it's very convenient to the Clarendon metro. I would probably use their services again, but I'd make a point of talking the manager to insure that I don't get billed for insurance that I didn't want. Come to think of it, this is the third time a rental company (three separate companies, by the way), have tried to add extra insurance fees to the bill without my permission, so maybe it's typical of the industry in general. In any case, buyer beware!

There was no queue at the desk, and my reservation was ready for me. Took the elevators up to the garage level, where I was able to choose from a few available cars. Follow signs for the rental return, pull into the marked lane, and an employee will take the key from you. Now here, I need to emphasize that you should request a receipt. I'm sure many of us are used to things running smoothly and digitized, but get one. After about a week, I got an astronomical bill from National for a car and journey that wasn't even mine. The employee at the garage must have been napping and didn't enter the correct info or something. Luckily, I was prepared with all the relevant info. It was a fairly simple matter to resolve it, but I had to call a couple different numbers, and explain things on the phone, which is more hassle than I would have liked. Otherwise good experience.

They almost scammed us by adding charges to our reservation by around $300. We come to dc every two months or so and decided to go its budget just to save a few bucks. The girl with the light brown curly hair in a bun - she had glasses too. She first took the credit card and when we asked about the up charge, she literally stayed silent and when we asked the question again she told us "well I'll explain it to you if you'll let me." - girl after charging us the wrong price, you do not get to act like that. What if someone did that' to you? They wouldn't even tell us their names after. Why don't you explain WHY you are charging me more than what I agreed to, before you charging? In what world is that okay?? She basically told us we could not cancel the reservation which she upcharged us for again, without explaining before charging. Maybe she didn't know how to take the charges off because after RESISTING to help us correct our reservation, the upcharge was still on the bill. After some back and forth she took it off. She told us to wait another 10 minutes for the car. We asked her if we could sit and wait and she told us "no. you stand right there in front of me" like who do you think you are speaking to customers like that? They said they were short staffed but... don't take your short staffed excuses out on your customers. The male "manager" (clearly with no management experience) was aggressive with our group as soon as he came. He spoke over us - sure two people were talking at the same time but to speak to us like we are children was crazy work. He told us we could just go get another rental service after we told him this has been the worst experience we've had renting a car. I get it - no video should've been recorded which I understand, (they won't be posted anywhere) but to come at us with an aggressive attitude like that - I've never been to a business like this. He didn't want to come to any resolve or maybe he doesn't know how. They might be a training or something. After he basically told us we can take it or leave it I asked him if he wanted us to cancel our reservation and he said he was in the business to make money. Clearly with no integrity though. And to make matters worse they gave us a DIRTY unwashed car!! Incredible! Now we've been here for about 50 minutes waiting for a car we paid for and was overcharged for until we caught it. The gentleman who got our car washed was very helpful and kind. He even apologized for the terrible experience we had. You should be embarrassed of the business you run trying to scam people to upsell. Upselling without explaining and then giving us attitude about it is WILD. I have the operations managers contact information. I hope for a better response. Allowing your employees to speak to customers this way is insane to me. We should have checked reviews before deciding to use this location. And yes we checked the car thoroughly. I have a feeling they'll try to charge us for something that was already there. I'm in retail and have been shortstaffed for the past year - no exaggeration. I had a situation where a customer was upset and recorded one of my team members and yes I was upset too but I never made the customer feel like they did something wrong regardless and asked them politely to not post an offered a discount for the upset. I wouldn't let anyone leave with a bad taste in their mouths. Then I coached my team member. That's how service jobs work. I would be appalled if my team members acted this way. I'm in the business of keeping customers and getting positive reviews. That's what the job is when it comes to customer service. This location Avis and Budget - awful business practices upcharging customers unknowingly. This isn't the first time we've used Avis/budget and had a poor experience. It's not worth saving a few bucks. They know exactly what they are doing especially bc they're the only rental around off airport so we would've had to call an uber and spend another 2 hours to get another car and we didn't have the time. They know it's highly inconvenient for us so they can treat us however they want knowing they'll get our business either way.

After arriving at the airport, we took the bus to the south end of the airport where the rental car facilities are located. The signage along the way was good, and we had no problem finding the Alamo counter. There was no line when we arrived, and the staff was very nice, quick, and efficient getting us checked in and on our way. After completing the paperwork, they directed us to the next floor up to pick up our vehicle. We received a Nissan Pathfinder, which I am pretty sure was an upgrade from what we had reserved, and there was no additional charge. The Pathfinder was clean, worked perfectly throughout our rental, and had plenty of room, which was especially nice since we were in town for a family event and needed the extra space. Returning the vehicle was just as easy as picking it up. We returned to the same rental car facility, followed the signs, and were quickly checked in. The staff was professional and pleasant and even helped unload our luggage from the vehicle. They then gave us very clear directions for getting back to the airport, including both the bus and the walkway options. Overall, this was about as easy and pleasant as a rental car experience can be. Between the good airport signage, no wait, friendly and efficient staff, excellent vehicle, and easy return process, I couldn't have asked for much more. I would definitely use Alamo at Reagan National Airport again and highly recommend this location to fellow travelers. Enjoy!
