Mandy P is right. At least one time I have noticed this happen. I walked in and someone called to place an order. They went directly to the bar for some of the ordered items. I couldn't see everything they grabbed for the persons order, because we got seated, but they did start initially putting theirs together from the bar. I also have been there twice and have seen a couple bugs crawling up the wall. I think it is a very dirty place. I don't know if they still have that nasty sofa when u first walk in, since it's been along time from my last visit, but that needed to go for sure. Some decent chairs would be much nicer then an old worn out sofa across from the food bar. One thing that almost all buffets do, is dump the old into the new. Stop doing that!!!!! Some of that food has been in the pan longer then it should. Even if one piece of food is constantly left in that pan that's older and is just getting mixed in over and over, will get a person sick. Only useful if you want to maximize pounds of food for dollar spent. Most food was lukewarm to cool. All chicken choices were fried and covered with a sauce. Mongolian grill was there, but no one available to cook at it. Will not return. read more

I am not sure why I went here as I really dislike Buffets.....but ended up here----I was suprised to see crablegs, and beef tenderloin, and salmon all on the buffet---(i did not eat any of this) i stuck with some noodles, rice, cream cheese wontons, and sweet and sour chicken----it was all mediocre and there were a lot of people with big family crowds here which means a ton of kids lurking around the food-i will not ever go back and don't really recommend this unless you LOVE BUFFETS...then you will not be disappointed as the selection is pretty big.... read more

We hit Grand Buffet on Saturday for lunch Dinner is not a good value IMHO. Sushi was fresh, I passed on the Mongolian Grill (no good reason) and focused on the buffet. Lots of selection but service, quality and appearance all could be improved. read more

Buffets are a tricky business no matter what they serve. Go too early and the food may need to be switched out. Go too late and the food has been out all service and has died prior to your arrival. With China Buffet I've noticed the food constantly changes throughout service. If the food gets low, it's not dumped in a new bin but instead taken out. If it's been out awhile, it's changed and taken out of the buffet for a new tray. Being in the medical field I'm very careful of buffets due to the high incidence of flesh eating diseases (necrotizing) or other ailments due to food improperly prepared or staying out too long (higher incident rates for Chinese food). And I am impressed with the frequent changes during any meal service. I've even taken a risk and ate between lunch and dinner AND late dinner noticing the food appears fresh and the kitchen churns out new dishes. As far as taste, it's your basic, run of the mill Americanized Chinese food. Don't expect to be blown away but pricing and selection more than make up for this. Want something made to order? No problem, arrive during lunch or dinner and they make it in front of you. Want something off menu (or buffet)? Just ask and they will gladly make it. What about sushi? Sure, check the buffet or have them make you some. Salad? Why not, the buffet has multiple items besides your basic Chinese food. Seafood? Crab legs, shrimp of all types, salmon, etc. Like I said, the selection is great including the made to order items. When you get this selection you hope the price is low and dinner for two runs around $21-24 dollars. Too steep? Check the paper because they are loaded with coupons for China Buffet. Do not order food from here to go. I had some General Tso's chicken the other night it was barely edible. It seems like they pull the food directly off of the buffet which have been sitting out 4 hours. Also the hot and sour soup was the worst I've ever had with huge chunks of tofu and no flavor. Pretty bad. The General Tsaos chicken was about the only entre I found edible. Most were cold or luke warm at best. They have a hibachi grill but no one there to man it. Though $6.75 is not a bad price for a chinese buffet, it's way to much when there isn't really anything to eat. The place was essentially empty on Friday at lunch time. There is a reason. While you can't beat a buffet for selection the price is often disproportionally high for the quality of the food. Grand Buffet is no exception. The best deal is to hit the buffet for lunch or for dinner on M-Th. On Friday night and weekends the price is often higher and the quality of the food seems to get worse. The plus side of the weekend nights is that Crab Legs are on the buffet as well. The selection of entrees is adequate as is the selection of sushi but in the end it's still a buffet. But, hey, if you can deal with getting stared down by a fellow patron for grabbing the last of the sweet and sour chicken, I say go for it and don't forget the free ice cream! read more

Came here seeking a way to mop up the excess alcohol sloshing around from the night before. Stumbled across it in a dated strip center. Like all Asian buffets it is what it is. With that said, I actually liked it! The food was fresh (being that I was the first patron of the day). The selection was good and the quality was as well. Try the mandarin custard dessert! Wait staff was friendly and attentive. For lunch @ $6.75 I say it was worth the try and I'll likely eat here again after my next binge. read more

I tried this place for lunch recently on a weekday about 1pm. As usual with chinese buffets, I went in with low expectations. For the price, I thought the food was decent and selection was good. It's probably not the best chinese food you've ever had. The honey chicken is better at Panda Express, just up the street. But isn't that understood with Chinese buffets? They have a couple hundred items and you find a few you like and eat up. To me, a place like this is an alternative to fast food. For a lunch buffet priced at $6.99, I have no complaints. We eat here once or twice a month when we're hungry and looking for decent cheap food. Food quality is average, but they do have crab legs and frog legs which I like. Sushi selection is small, and if you get there late they'll be out of things. Bathrooms are in rough shape. Owner is usually there but his customer service skills are lacking. It fills you up, and we've never gotten sick from the buffet so our main objectives are met. read more

If you want stale food laced with MSG, here's the place for you. This place claims it was included in the top 100 Chinese restaurants in the USA out of a possible 40,000 plus. If it was even remotely considered for that list, then favors must have been called in. The food was mediocre at best, the variety limited, the ambiance middling, the service OK, but the chandelier was incredible. When I told the manager that we felt somewhat cheated, his sterling response was that I should return in the evening. I reminded him that I was there for lunch and he was taking my money. he was unmoved. My wife and I will never eat here again. read more

what a rathole... this place is dirty, dirty, dirty, it's really gone down hill over the last few years, the seats are all damaged and dirty from thousand of construction workers over the years, the carpets, tables and bathrooms can all be described with one word - filthy... the staff are unfriendly, unprofessional and the food looks and tastes like it was cooked yesterday and been on the buffet all night. This place caters to construction crowds or large families looking to eat all they can, so if you enjoy having 20 mexicans leering at you, by all means enjoy this rathole. I will be surprised if they are open much longer. I will never go back. Chinese mall food is 100% better than this tripe. read more

Thought we would give this place a chance since we are new to the area. We were greeted by a man that sat us in the first booth by the greeters stand. He stood over us the entire time snorting and gurgling. I am guessing allergies or something. It was so disturbing that we could hardly eat our food without gagging. There was very little sushi and what was there was old. Food was dried out and hard. Even when you are getting your food from the buffet he is walking threw the buffet snorting.
