The staff was friendly, attentive, and seated me immediately. The buffet food is without a doubt the least I have ever enjoyed food in my lifetime. It's rubbery and overly-sweet. In my experience, the seafood at these types of buffets is usually not very good quality, but Grand Buffet's seafood fell even lower in rank. It was bad: meager and disgusting. The only item from the buffet that I finished was the chow mein. It was decent. After deciding the rest of the items weren't worth eating, I went to try the hibachi bar. The ingredient here were also poor, and I waited, ready, at the cooktop for a couple minutes before I turned around to see the cook walking from the dining area toward the kitchen to cook my sorta-food-like-stuff. Went back after my last review. The service was better, and the trays were kept stocked. The times prior to that they had empty trays and so-so service. We were there at lunch time on Sunday, and they charge dinner prices all day on Sunday. Still of the three buffet places in town this is the best. Lai Lais is by far and away the worst. read more

This place is inexpensive and the food is solid. You spend 8.95 for lunch and get B+ Food. This place is far better than Lai Lai's and its especially shown in their sushi which I am convinced that Lai Lai's gets it pre-packaged, while Grand's sushi is made where you can see it. As far as buffets go, this is one of the better ones. Brought my daughter in law, who is diabetic, and there were lots of healthy options for her to safely enjoy. The sushi was actually surprisingly good, considering this is a buffet ;-) The salad bar was fresh, and the entree items were replenished a few times in the hour we were there. Only cons I have is the server was pretty invisible, so replenishment of our waters was lacking, and the miso soup, which is normally something I love, tasted like dirty seaweed. read more

My friend and I went for lunch today...the food was cold and the waitress was too new to be placed out on the floor unsupervised. She evidently gave our ticket to another ticket to customers close by and they unwittingly paid our tab. When we finished our meal we were handed a ticket to take up front and when we tried to pay the cashier asked us to take her to the table we were seated at...the problem is now they had no bill in the system and did not know what to do... While the cashier was walking back and forth to the new waitress and trying to figure it out, I said she could either call the manager and have him or her assist them and not hold us for additional time or charge us for 2 meals and two sodas...her reply was the manager is not on the property and it is not that simple...I have run a restaurant and understand that these cashiers are not managers but why would management leave them untrained and unsupervised according to them? It would have been simple to write a new ticket with 2 meals and 2 drinks at an empty table (there were some by the way) and we could have moved on without all the delay and stress... So I say eek! I don't know where to start. Between servers yelling across the restaurant at each other, the disorganization, the sub par food and the 10 minute wait for drinks this place was just aweful. Sunday March 30th as a gropup of 11 people, we went to grand buffet to celegrate my great=grandson's birthday. There is a sign at the front door stating that a person with a birthday can eat free. But because he was only 15 years old and did not have a drivers licence he had to pay full price. Tow of our party were over 60 years old, and was refused the senoir discount. The food was not as good as it used to be, we were VERY disappointed with the food. When we finished eating, as a whole we gave the waiter over $50.00 tip. It wasn't until was got home that we read our receit, and found that the waiter charged each of 10% on each of our bills. What a RIP+OFF. When I first moved to Redding, in 2012, the restaurant was really nice, the food was great and I really enjoyed it. I never rate restaurants and I'm doing this only cause I don't want anyone else to waste their money or get sick like me and my son did. The place is in disrepair, the tables set ups for soy sauce, sugars, etc were filthy, sushi looked like it had been out since lunch with hardly anything to offer..................hot food was not hot. The selection of food was slim and the food looked like it had been sitting out for a long time. The meat was rubbery (especially the shrimp). So we went here in August and all I can say is looks are deceiving. They used to have good food a couple of years ago but now BLeh! Extremely overpriced and poor selection of food. I was excited to take my fiancé to lunch at the grand buffet because I went by myself a few weeks before and I decided to take him on a Tuesday when they have they're special of 11.88$ all day. And when we arrived the service was great but what got to me was they're crab legs. They were HALLOW AMD BLACK INSIDE. I told the waitress and she said she would tell the cook. I was there about another hour after she that and they did not change them out. They were the same NAST CRAB CLWAS NOT THE LEGS ALL DAY AT ALL. Now the time I went by myself the crab legs were decent. Which was on a day that the regular price was (15$) a person. It seemed to me that they put they're carp pieces of crab out during the discount day. I was so excited to bring him there but yet they were discrediting today. I won't return for a long while. Probably 8 months or so. I was not happy with any of the food today. And I told the lady who was walking around refilling the food and she DID NOT SEEM TO CARE! Went 4/30/2012 to the Grand Buffet with my husband. We had a lunch coupon. That gives the second 50 % off. So we been seated at about 1 hour clock ( a bit before) and start eating our lunch. The food wasn't that great and the sushi was old and dried out. When we where done the check came and we put the 50% off on there. Then the host came and said. " This only counts when you be seated at 1 hour clock (wasn't to find on the coupon.) Then my husband got a bit more angry and ask to talk to the manager. She was very rude and told there was a little sign up front that you had to give the coupon when you came in. (also not printed on the coupon) The sign was SO little nobody would ever see this nor give that coupon. Now it's not about the money but more about the rude manager. Plus that when you give coupons and you have SO many rules you need to print them on there so people know what to expect. The large DYING fish in the pond was my FIRST red flag that we should turn & leave. Certainly not something one wants to see when entering a restaurant!! However, my friend & I drove up from Paradise, and had already decided that we would try the Grand Buffet. HUGE MISTAKE..... Our table was not clean, & the Sriracha bottle top was filthy! Still, I was willing to overlook this & focus on the quality of the food...my friend, on the other hand was smart & did NOT eat at all. So, my lunch companion watched me while I tried to eat the disgusting food. I was extremely disappointed because hot food was lukewarm, cold crab legs I wanted to try had brown squishy stuff coming out (did NOT eat). The egg drop soup was terrible...like eating cheap, old oil. The only thing eatable on my plate was the 3 pieces of orange chicken. My friend spoke to a woman about the ONLINE menu, who was very rude & short, stating that THEY did not make the menu. Seriously???
