Allow me to begin my review with a list of caveats:…read more 1.) I've been gatekeeping for quite some time; 2.) I only order one of two things on the menu. Before you try to judge me, just shut your filthy mouth. This spot has been a Chinese restaurant before, but it was no good, so I've been holding off to review the re-vamped version of the new Chinese spot in Clifton. Admittedly, I've only ever ordered two things here, but damn. Between the flavors and the customer service, I don't need to order anything else. I have absolutely fallen in love with what I KNOW are the best wontons in Cincinnati. The Hong Kong style wonton soup is a perfect mixture of pork and shrimp that results in a juicy, flavorful, plump bit of deliciousness in your mouth. I love that the wonton skin is clearly handmade (decidedly thinner than the average wonton wrapper), and that they don't skimp on the shrimp. I just cannot explain the flavor...or the tenderism!!!!!!! THROW YOUR GLASSES!!! I'm also low-key in love with the shrimp and crab fried rice. I mean, damn. This is tasty AF. My only (minor) beef is that my last portion was packed with shrimp, but there was only one bite of crab meat. Here's what you won't know until it's too late: the lunch portion of the fried rice is only $11, but it's only served prior to 3pm. After that you have to spring for the large portion at $19. I'm not joking when I say two people could easily split the lunch portion. It is generous! You can't split the wonton soup, though, because it's too delicious to share. I know, I know, "you've only eaten two dishes, how can you review this place?" Again, shut your filthy mouth. I've eaten these same two dishes at least a dozen times, THAT's what gives me the authority to tell you this spot is legit. *mic drop*

Each person had about 3 entrees from the menu and everyone loved what they got. The owner came to our table out of curiosity because he said he's never seen a group like us order so much food and EAT ALL OF IT! Lol!!! We're from Seattle and we throw down! He was such a good person. He reminded me of my uncle or elder. He was talking to us about the history of chicken and where it originated from along with the sago dessert. Super informational. I love the history of cultures and how food brings everyone together and he did that. This place made me feel like I was at my uncles house. Very family friendly feel. If you haven't been here yet, ya'll better come through!!!! This place is the $hit hands down!

The gentleman asked if we had reservations. We did not. He simply said, "Then we'll have three more guests for the evening" or something along those lines. He was very kind. Before our friend arrived, a woman stopped by to welcome us. Top notch service so far! The ambiance is beautiful. The lighted tree and decor behind us was a lot, but it felt tasteful. Jack, our server, stopped by to get us water. When our friend arrived we had a lot to talk about. Jack stopped by several times and was very chill about us taking our time. He said he didn't mind if we still weren't ready and he'd return to check on us as often as necessary. Again, kindness and patience abound at Oriental Wok. The Ma La Dumplings were absolutely delicious. The filling was delicious and the spice level, which we knew would be spicy, was perfect. Truly a wonderful bite. I had Five-Spice Tofu. The tofu was crispy as advertised and the greens were in a very light and delectable sauce. Green onions were sprinkled with the greens. I feel sometimes greens like these are an afterthought at many restaurants. At Oriental Wok they were as much a star as the crispy tofu. Mark had Orange Chicken and thoroughly enjoyed it. He mentioned the orange flavor was perfect. Either Jack asked if we wanted dessert and I missed it or he didn't ask. Our friend thought maybe he did and she said no, but she couldn't be sure. I just remember him stopping by to ask if we needed boxes. Anyway, next thing I knew we had our checks. I really wanted dessert, but I took it as a sign it was time for us to wrap up. I'm absolutely certain he would have been more than happy to bring us some dessert and update our checks, so going without was on me and that's cool. I think it's safe to say we will be back!

One of the best places for Chinese food and a great atmosphere for family and friends to gather…read more The entree portions are large plus they have a dim sum menu, which promotes sharing. Family dinners are available as well. I enjoyed my flavorful wonton soup, ate plenty of sweet and sour chicken, took bites of the Mongolian beef, and sampled most of the dishes around the table. I will never come back to this place…read more Let me start by saying I used to love this restaurant. It was one of our favorite. But now, it's on our list to never eat here again. It started with me placing an online order. This is new on their website while I was looking at the menu. I figured this would be best than calling the restaurant. How I was so wrong. I placed it with a 30 minute window. Ordered at 4:44 to be pick up at 5:14pm. I showed up to the restaurant at 5:03pm. There was about 4 other people at the counter. One person just placed their order, another person said her mom called to place the order but wasn't sure when it would be ready. They told everyone 20 min. I showed my ordered and they were going to be me 20 minute. I said I placed my order 20 minutes ago. Ok so I waited... Another lady came in and said that she placed her order around the same time online. Her order number was 140 and she had a long receipt with quite a lot of items. My order was 148, somehow. By the time I asked what's going on with my order at 5:15, they said they go by the order number and they're on 138. I don't think they processed my order until I arrived at 5:03pm. It took until 5:39pm before I receive the order in my hand. I only had very few items, one of which was an order for combination lo mein, plain mantou, shrimp tofu and wonton noodle soup. Mind blowing because I paid $50. The online system also charge a $1 fee, which I did not know about until I saw the receipt. Which would had been fine if my order was done in the time it was promised. Now, the staff was not the most friendly either... the person that handed me the bag almost dropped it because she put it in my hand, didn't say a word and turned and walked away. They cannot be any more rude than that. I was sweating profusely and shaking while waiting for a very long time while I am pregnant and nauseous. Now here's the review for the food. It was not good. We have had some on and off with their food and we haven't been back for a while so I wanted to give them another chance. But their lo mein was soo salty, and they used pad thai noodles. The wonton noodle soup was small container, so bland, literally no flavors, and the wonton tasted so bad. They put really hot tofu that was deep fried in styrofoam container that it put a hole through the container. So my paper bag was soaked and wet within the 6 minutes drive home. The mantou was so tiny for $4.5. Not worth it. All in all, the 4 items that I ordered did not worth the $50 for almost an hour wait, not worth my time or money. I wouldn't have eaten the food if I didn't already paid. Had I not already paid online, I would just had left.
