Green agave is a great place to have a date night or for a family night out. We went on Friday night which in my opinion is the best night to go because they have an amazing mariachi band. They sing up front then literally go to each table and sing songs you request. My mom and I shared Godzilla margarita its a huge fishbowl margarita and is seriously delicious and very alcoholic. We also got a shot of tequila each it was good but very strong and didn't go down smooth, it was in the $8 range but not sure what it is called. My mom and I also shared the Chori-Pollo it is grilled chicken topped with cheese sauce and chorizo. This is seriously AMAZING! The chicken is seasoned so well, almost like a homemade taco seasoning and then pounded down to about a 1/4 of an inch flat then topped with some very delicious moist chorizo and there amazing queso blanco and served with tortillas, rice, refried beans, lettuce and sour cream. I swear I would order this over and over again. It is not traditional American/Mexican like quesadillas or tacos but something like you might find in your Mexican grandmas chicken. Awe man I couldn't wait to come back to gran agave our first experience was so good... but or second was not so good, there was no wait on a Tuesday which I was surprised so we were sat instantly we got our chips and the waiter came over to start our order which was rushing and I'm not a fan of that but I ended up ordering a monster Marg frozen with a sugar rum, and my son a sweat tea asked us if we were ready to order but we hadn't looked at the menu yet and walked off. We took some time to look at our options and by the time he came back we were ready we put ours orders in and waited the Margarita was okay it tasted more like a regular Margarita not really mango at all an no sugar rim which wasn't a big deal it was the food that shocked me. We got our food and the looks were there but the taste was disappointing. The guacamole on top of my chimi tasted like straight no flavor at all the chicken inside wasn't hot or even shredded it was just the plate that was hot, my husband steak was so chewy he ordered it medium rare but the cut on this steak was all fat not very appetizing. We asked the waiter for a box and he goes rudely "what's wrong the food not good?" and we told him it just wasn't hitting the spot for us and so another gentleman came over they chatted for a second and he got us a box and the check, we paid and left. We used to come to this location frequently when it was under another name, and we loved it. At that time it was a full tequila bar, with many different types of tequilas and many unique flavors of margaritas. Since it's changed hands, we've visited a few times, and now we find it to be just "meh." It's not bad. I don't see any huge negatives, it is just no longer set apart and unique among the vast array of Mexican restaurants in the area. Their food is okay. Not amazing, but not bad - average, I'd say. The value is good. Our most recent visit was for lunch, and they have good prices on their lunch menu. Portion sizes are large. The service is excellent. Several reviewers have mentioned long waits, but that has never been our experience. We were seated right away, and the server immediately came to our table to ask for our drink order. He was attentive and polite the entire meal, and our food came out very quickly. It's the quality service that bumps this from an "average" 3 star to an above average 4 star for me. read more

This place is a hidden gem. We stopped by to grab a quick bite and I was pleasantly surprised by the appearance and atmosphere once we walked in. They had a live mariachi band playing and it's very spacious and clean inside. I ordered a 28 oz house margarita and it was good, but not as good as I was expecting. The service was a bit slow despite our early arrival and it took a long time for us to be able to place the order and the food to come out. However, the food was delicious and authentic Mexican flavors. I had a chicken enchilada along with tamales, rice and beans. Overall, we had a great experience. My suggestion is to have designated serves for the restaurant seating only while others handle the bar area, not both. I will certainly go back. Great for accommodating big parties also. read more

I ordered the carne asada tacos and husband ordered the shrimp quesadilla. Husband said his was good. The tortillas are the type you buy at Publix. I was expecting fresh tortillas...these were not....not the kind a Mexican family would have at home. My tacos were meat and tortilla...that was it....no lettuce, no cheese, a small amount of pico in a bowl separate from the plate. I was very disappointed in the flavor of the "ribeye" meat in the taco. Gosh I really wanted this to be our place! The salsa tasted store bought and the chips were not flavorful which is pretty important to me in a Mexican restaurant. The food was the same not horrible but meh. One of my favorite things about gran agave is how incredible the service is there. My husband and I were starved one afternoon and all we wanted was a good, hearty plate of chimichangas and chips and salsa. We received a warm welcoming when we entered and our server was very attentive and sweet. He was so attentive that he remembered us on our second visit weeks later and even knew our whole order - chimichanga with no pico , no lettuce, no sour cream for my husband and chimichanga with no lettuce for me. Although the service is extraordinary, Im sad to say that I can't say the same about the food. I had a chicken chimichanga and the chicken was very dry, the chimichanga isn't topped with anything other than what looked like a queso blanco. I found myself adding the salsa from our complimentary chips and salsa. As far as food goes, my favorite part of the meal was definitely the chips and salsa. The salsa tasted very fresh and wasn't too spicy which was a huge plus for me. The chips were light, airy and crisp which makes for a perfect combination. All in all, the best part of my visit to gran agave was the service and the chips and salsa. what a HUGE disappointment.....this place USED to be good, looks like they're cutting corners and serving sub-par food. went in for dinner tonight, ordered a pitcher of margaritas, which was really good. the salsa & chips came, the chips were chips, but the salsa tasted like plain tomato sauce right of a can. no flavor, no seasoning, nothing good.....the molcajete (sp?) was ok, a lot of food, rice that came with seemed like it had been on the steam table in the kitchen too long, kind of dry, seemed like it was old. also ordered the el combo plate.....a combo of 5 items, plus rice & beans. rice was dried out and seemed old, the burrito & enchilada were bad, dry, over salted ground beef, nothing separated these 2 from each other except that 1 was sauced on the top, the other had sauce underneath....neither was truly what a burrito or enchilada is supposed to be. the biggest joke was the "relleno". it was NOT a relleno, it was a half of a bell pepper filled with the same dry, salty ground beef, no cheese, wasn't battered, etc.. i asked the waiter why are you calling that thing a relleno, he told me that it was their interpretation of a relleno. well, to me, that was why i'd never return to this place again....sub par food, poorly produced, using old, left over ingredients & hoping the gringos will just let it slide.....my advise is to AVOID THIS RESTAURANT, there are plenty of other better mexican restaurants around....... read more

I hadn't read any reviews prior to stopping at this Mexican restaurant. It is in a part of town I usually only drive through after a doctor appointment, and I just happened to be really hungry as I was passing by. It turned out to be a very fortuitous change event. This relatively small center has several stores, including another restaurant. It was fairly early for dinner, so I had no problem finding parking. On entering I saw that most of the tables were still empty, yet there were several servers wandering around looking like they were anticipating a dinner rush. This turned out to be true, and by the time I finished eating, many of the tables and booths and bar stools were occupied. I was cordially greeted on entering and seated at a table of my choice. My server immediately brought over a place setting and menu, and took my drink order. I tried to capture most of the menu in attached pictures, and you will see it is extensive. After bringing my soda and water, I also received a bowl of tortilla chips and a bowl of salsa. The chips were hot, fresh, and crispy, just excellent. I ended up ordering an appetizer, Nachos with Beef and Beans. The order of Nachos was huge, and could have easily served as an entire meal for one or two people. My server informed me that he would wait until I was done with my appetizer before bringing out the main course. I had ordered combination #11: one beef burrito, one taco, and one enchilada. The taco was on a separate smaller plate, while the burrito and enchilada shared a plate, which I was warned was very hot. Given this information, I dug into the taco first. Scrumptious. This was no Taco Bell taco by any means. After finishing the taco I began to work on the burrito and enchilada, having some of one and then the other. I wanted badly to sample everything, and knew there was no way I could finish all the food. In the end I was able to eat about half of everything that I had ordered, and I shouldn't have forced myself to eat that much. This is one of the best Mexican restaurants I have had the pleasure to eat at, and definitely will return. A couple of things to note. As stated on the menu, the soft drinks have a maximum of 3 free refills. The bowl of chips that are brought to your table when you are seated are free, but refills of chips or salsa are extra. read more

Was there about a week ago and am SO thankful there's a place this good. The margaritas were outstanding. The service was wonderful and the food was fabulous. Their menu is really good. There's only one thing I would suggest (and it's minor in scope) is that the refried beans could be thicker. I shall continue to go to this restaurant at least once a week. I got the beef chalupa. It came on a fried corn totilla. Not on chalupa shell. It was so soggy I could not even pick it up to eat. Had to try to eat with a fork. Smothered with refried beans, a couple of crumbles of ground beef. The lettuce was adaquate. The tomatoes was a small thin side of end of tomatoe. I took it off and asked twice for some tomatoe.
