A great family-owned local spot in Ruskin serving authentic Mexican food! We had the pleasure of starting our meal with fresh, homemade chips and salsa. They were so good that there wasn't even a crumb left...lol! That alone was a great start to the meal. Based on our server's recommendation, I ordered the combination plate, which included a taco, tostada, and sopes served with rice and beans. Every bite was packed with flavor, and you could really taste the care that goes into the food. Los Amigos may be small in size, but it is definitely BIG on flavor! I would never eat here again. I ordered the fajitas which they give you a fairly size helping of meat but only 3 small tortillas. I ordered a side of avocados which looked atrocious and the chips were literally burnt tasting and hard. I also ordered enchiladas which they left out of my order so I can't comment on them. Food: They start you off with freshly fried chips, yes please! Guacamole was good, with a nice fresh flavor. The cheeses enchiladas were good, sauce was light and flavorful without spiciness. I wish there a bit more cheese but the flavor was worth it. The veggie burrito was YUM! The vegetables were lightly cooked which resulting in a taster crisp bite. When I found out that they roll their own flour tortillas? I had to dive into the two tacos, rice and choice of beans. I went with the refried...this time. I am impressed of the choices of different items. I.e. Tortillas: corn, flour, or crunchy. Beans: refried or charros. Taco "type" between authentic or Americanized. And and a whole lot of proteins. What I didn't expect, was the tamale they put one the plate. That I did not order. IMPRESSED!! I really enjoyed my meal at Los Amigos. Super awesome service, and I think I talked to the owner about their beans and other foodie kinda stuff, but I will try the frijoles charros next time for sure. Stop by and grab a taco or two. Met a couple friends visiting the area and this was half way distance between us. Complementary homemade tortilla chips (thick) and 3 sauces were served promptly, but it wasn't salsa like we're accustomed to, one mild and 2 extremely hot. We love fajitas, and the Fajita mix did not disappoint. It included shrimp, chicken, steak, and veggies, with a side of rice and charro beans. One order was plenty for two to share, and we actually didn't finish it. This was so sizzling hot, I had to take a video so it could be heard, but apparently, videos can't be posted on a review. There's plenty of pictures of the fajitas here though. The service was exceptional, and the ambience was colorful Mexican, with every wall completely covered in murals and colorful furniture as well. Ok, credit where credit is due. Were it not for Yelp, I never would have found this tasty place. So, thank you Yelp universe. Yes, it's in a very old strip mall, around the corner from the main drag (U.S. 41). You have to know it's there. But the minute you see all the cars, you know it's a word-of-mouth sensation. I was there around noon on a Sunday and the joint was jumping. It's small inside, about 12 tables and a few booths-with beautiful murals on every wall. The thick chips and both red and green salsas came right away. My server was so sweet and attentive, despite the busy room. She was on it! It took me awhile to decide, because they really do have a lot of options. I finally went with green enchiladas. I chose cheese-and doubled up on the rice instead of beans. Wow! The green sauce! I think the word yum was invented for it. So, so, so good-it walked the fine line of spice and nice beautifully. The rice was so good-moist, not crumbly-or overdone or too tomato'y. Nothing on tap or in a fountain here-beer and juices in bottles-soda in cans. I believe the margarita is wine-based. I'll come back and double check! read more

Sent hubby for takeout dinner on 9/25/23. I had my usual steak tacos with cilantro, onions and cheese. He had same. I usually order 3 he got me 4. He got himself 4 also. The bill was $23.65 plus he gave a $5 tip. Tacos are good; meat is flavorful. However, they were so skimpy I was thankful he got me an extra one. 8 tacos, no rice no beans, no chips. Nothing. $30!! This is a low key local restaurant with some solid Mexican food. The service was prompt and our server was very nice. The drinks were cold. I had the Sangria. While, it tasted refreshing, it didn't taste like there was much alcohol in the drink. The chips and salsa were a good starter. They serve crispy fried chips. We liked the green dipping sauce the best. The steak burrito was solid. The pico de gallo and rice were flavorful in the dish mixed with the queso. The steak was tender but lacked flavor. All in all it was a good burrito. The fajitas combo is served with flour tortillas. It was cooked with fajitas vegetables steak, shrimp and chicken. It was beautifully seasoned and full of flavor. This should be your go to dish. It was great. Topped this is with the queso and guacamole. The guacamole was AMAZING. It was fresh and had wonderful flavor. All around solid place to eat. Total we ordered a chicken taco salad, the mixed enchiladas plate, queso & chips, a margarita.. and to go a mixed plate of fajitas. Starting off there were only 3 other tables occupied when we came in. And that stayed pretty consistent the whole hour we were there. Unfortunately, it took 25 minutes to get my margarita and queso for the kids. I waited to see how long it would take for them to ask or notice. Finally the man, I am assuming a manager asked if we needed more chips and I told him I was waiting for my drink and queso. When we got the queso it was less than desirable. Like warm, not a lot of flavor. Chips too were good but not fresh. Red salsa was nice but not a lot of spice or flavor. Green sauce was very vinegary and not my go to. The taco salad was okay. What you would typically get with a taco salad. My enchilada plate was very so so. Red enchilada was okay, the creamy green enchilada was cheese inside and the sauce tasted like the green chip sauce but with cream? It was okay. The green enchilada on the right was okay. The sauce was fine but the chicken inside was dry. I was told the plate came with beans and rice but only got rice. Rice was flavorless. *took the fajitas home for my husband. Was quiet a bit of meat/veggies - overall, just ok. Nothing to brag about and I won't go out of my way to eat here again. read more

My credit card was used for another patron so there was a prolonged wait for them to straighten it out, but the food was excellent, the charo beans were savory and tasty, the beef fajitas were tender, with a good char, and brought steaming to the table. The menudo was perfect, not too greasy, not too spicy. The meat was tender and braised in the menudo broth, with the perfect amount of hominy and all the fixings were included. I've had menudo from the west coast to Texas to here and this was one of the best menudos I've had. A generous helping of meat and not too much hominy. Menudo is the Mexican equivalent of chicken soup to fix what ails you and great hangover food. read more

We found this place by accident and it is now our go-to place for Mexican food in Ruskin. Their red enchilada sauce is out of this world and we haven't found anything on their menu that wasn't super tasty and satisfying. The service is always prompt and friendly. Be aware that they only serve beer and wine so, if you simply have to have that margarita, you should probably try someplace else (on the other hand, their selection of Mexican beer is pretty good). read more
