In today's episode - it's dark still - 4:30-5:00am and I'm stopping at Garcia's Bakery - another wonderful Mexican spot along my route to work. My inability to communicate much outside of a handful of unconjugated words hasn't been a problem at all in my eating and shopping experiences, in point of fact - its quite the opposite. The native tongue will be better one day as I'm interested in learning - I think this is noticed as when I'm fumbling - either a bilingual amigo steps in to voice my intentions or the counter person understands most of what I'm driving at. I didn't get to explore the pastry / bakery side quite yet - but on quick glance I'm seeing what looks to be classic and new taste treat creations. The chorizo was seasoned with wonderful spices of cumin & coriander broken up into nice little crumbles, perfect for tacos, which I ordered two of this morning. I could smell the paprika - no peppers, no onions - meat and eggs and the eggs soaked up the vibrance if the chorizo oil and really balanced these tacos out. The chocolate cookie I bought there was dry and tasteless. Barely would know it had any chocolate at all in it. The sweet bread I bought was dry and barely sweet. Not sure what else they sell there, but I will say that if the food I tried is an example of the rest of the food they make, I wouldn't recommend going there. I know I won't again. read more

Fresh food, with many varieties to chose from. With fresh tortillas being made while you wait. The bakery had top notch pan dulce. Small and quaint store with a medium size eating area. It was refreshing to see a familiar style bakery like this in Florida. read more

The best place in the Riverview/Brandon area for breakfast tacos! I preordered a large breakfast for 15. Riselda and her staff had everything ready for a 7:00 pickup. I ordered 45 breakfast tacos, with spicy and mild salsa and refried beans. Many of the people who enjoyed the breakfast had never had breakfast tacos before, to my surprise. Best tortillas in town. Hot food is good too. The bakery area is small but has a nice selection of cakes and pastries. Give it a try.

Very good food and friendly service! Only reason not the 5stars its because options are limited! Menu is the same every day! The sweet bread its very tasty and made there! Rule of thumbs to being hispanic its "if it's crowded its gotta be good" crowded on weekends as barbacoa(cowtongue) by the pound and great tamales! (Weekend only) I wouldnt say highly recommend but i say give it a try its worth it! read more

I drive from the Brandon/Riverview area just to get the Pan Dulce (Mexican Sweet Bread). This is the only Panaderia (Mexican Bakery), that I know of in the area. I always stock up on Conchas and a few other breads that the kids may like. The bread costs more than I'm used to paying back home (Dallas) but worth it since it's the only one around! They have Tamales and Barbacoa on the weekends (closed on Sunday's). I've had the green chili chicken and pork tamales. They are both very good but small and thin. The price is $10p/dz which is good considering size. The Barbacoa is tasty and comes with fresh tortillas for $1 extra. I believe the Barbacoa is $9 or 10 p/lb. They also have breakfast tacos made to order. It's very busy on Saturdays so go early if you want to get the good stuff or call ahead and place your order during the week to pickup on Sat. read more

I am giving this bakery five stars, because it deserves more recognition for its authentic Mexican food and customer service. I think that it is great to have a bakery like this, since there are not many local ones here. I enjoy all of their food and sweet bread. I like to place my order ahead of time and be able to pick it up when I get there. Since the place does get very filled especially on Fridays and Saturdays. Overall, I think that people should visit the place if they enjoy sweets like empanadas, conchas and food like tamales and tacos. read more

Would give 5 stars for the fresh tasty Tamales-not so many for the dry/semi-stale dessert Empanadas (pineapple & pumpkin). The Tamales had tender chicken & mild 'heat' -with hot sauce on the side, very yummy! The Empanadas had too much/thick dry dough & barely enough drying out filling. Been spoiled having great dessert Empanadas in El Paso, Tx at Gussie's. Would return for Tamales...not for the Empanadas. read more
