My friend and I went to this place for lunch. I got the BBQ pork ribs with potato salad as my side. My friend got the beef brisket sandwich with candied yams as a side. I liked everything on my plate, but the ribs were very good! My friends beef was quite fatty and the bun was saturated and was unable to hold. She loved her yams though! She gave me a bite and they were really good!! It is a small venue but they have outdoor seating which is nice. The lady taking our order was very nice and very helpful ( as it was our first time there). They play oldies music there and that was enjoyable. We did not wait too long before our food was brought out. Some things I think would be an improvement are bigger, thicker napkins... come on, it's bbq!! And a little bigger on the sides. They make nearly everything here fresh. I got a shrimp po'boy and it had the best tarter sauce I've ever had; the tarter sauce was homemade and the shrimp were fried perfectly. We ordered pork ribs with collards and red beans/rice, Chicken wings with fried okra and a Catfish Po Boy with mac/cheese. The BBQ sauce was tasty but the meat was rubbery (wasn't expecting that). The greens lacked any flavor and the red beans and rice were dry (where was the juice). The Wings were ok, nothing special...the Okra was awesome!! I got take out Rib tip dinner w yams and Mac sides. I wish I had eaten there, the atmosphere was SO nice,they were playing music that I like! My order came up so quickly it actually surprised my when the young lady brought it to me at the table,my receipt said her name was Sonja. Rib tips were great! Not too much sauce, sauce was good. Right when I walked in,Bam it hit me..the odor of this place was fantastic. It reminded me of being back home. The whole feel of this place makes you feel comfy and cozy. With a great music choice that goes right with the feel. Onto the food.. I ordered my meal from a young man who said. "You've come to the right place" I've heard that before..but dawn did he deliver. I had an Order of pulled BBQ pork. Came with an order of mac n cheese collard greens and a cornbread biscuit. This pork was so tender and moist..and that sauce made me eat it nonstop. and I'm usually a slow eater! The collard greens were crisp yet juicy perfectly braised.. And the mac was so cheesy and soft. But stayed on my fork. Don't get me started on that cornbread.. It was sweet but buttery. All around. I can say I'll certainly be back soon. Ever tried to eat brisket with only a plastic forkand no knife? That's what you get if you eat here. A plastic fork and food served on a styrofoam plate. The service was meh. I've seen a lot of reviews about slow service. Not a problem I had. The food was delivered in less than 10 minutes. Brisket was good, not amazing. Mac and cheese was some of the worst I've ever had. The floor in the kitchen, which you can see from the register you order from, looked like it hadn't been mopped in weeks. Only giving 2 stars because the brisket was decent. read more

I came here on the advice from a co-worker. I was looking for some soul food in the area I could drive to within 15 minutes. First, I was very surprised when they told me over the phone that my order would be ready within 10 minutes. A different co-worker ordered the barbecued chicken, and greens. The greens were edible, but personally, they were a bit bland for my taste. This chicken was EXTREMELY dry. My co-worker was very disappointed. She said it had a nice flavor, but it was WAY too dry. I ordered shrimp, red snapper, greens, mac&cheese, and cornbread. Together the order totaled around $35. My shrimp was okay, it was fried in cornmeal, kind of bland. The red snapper was VERY DRY and not seasoned enough. The cornbread was reminiscent of a brick, and inedible. I think I may keep it on hand, in my car and use it in a fit of road rage. To my surprise the mac&cheese was very good. (This is the only reason I gave two stars) I am almost positive my food had been sitting under heat lamps HOURS prior to my even placing the order.
