Good food, fair prices, friendly staff and owner. Definitely the best Mexican food in the city…read more The other place in town will have you sick in no time. Only down side is they don't serve beer.

I told him that we have dined at the other restaurant several times and really enjoy the food. That is why we decided to try the Inola restaurant also. After the meal he asked, "which one was the best?" Nope, not falling in to that trap. My answer "They are both good." Inola should thank the owners for cleaning up the eyesore that this building was to the city. The owners gutted the building. Remodeled inside and out, and added a nice parking area. Nothing fancy inside, but it is clean and has clean new restrooms. The food is essentially the same as the other Izzy Mexican Flat Grill. The stand out of the restaurant's foods, are the well flavored meats, excellent sauces, good portions and fair prices. The red sauce used on the enchiladas is the real deal, red chili sauce, not tomato sauce. The green is equally delicious. The red salsa served with the chips is good, but ask for the red and green salsa picante. The red is absolutely fantastic, smokey, spicey and hot. High marks for the refried beans too. My wife had a chicken Taco salad and I had the three-enchilada lunch, all beef, one with red sauce one with cheese and one with green sauce. Great meals. Both meals came with chips and drinks. Eat here Inola!

Great food Tasty Fast…read moreservice Full menu Try them out For a small town this is a true gem You will not be disappointed

I love good small-town cafes. Unfortunately, Pop's & Gigi's was a very disappointing breakfast…read moreexperience for me. Far from the 4.6-star rating on Google Yeah, those burgers and fries look good on Google and their Face Book page. Breakfast, well? The clues were right in front of my eyes. I just got dazzled by the burger and ignored the obvious. Almost completely absent in all of the pictures are any kind of breakfast. Looking back, I found only one sad looking picture of a biscuit and gravy in a to go box. There were no reviews for the breakfast meals. I'm slipping. I am usually much more diligent vetting a restaurant and seldom fooled. Not this time. The positive, the food is reasonably priced, the owner is friendly, the service is adequate and for some reason we got free coffee. All that doesn't make Pop's & Gigi's a good place to eat breakfast. Noticeable when we walked in; plates still on the tables, some food on the floor from the breakfast crowd; a little grungy feeling. The interior is small. Heavily decorated walls, a cluttered Hobby Lobby looking decor. This is where small town working people come to eat. Don't expect pristine accommodations. I can live with that. Biscuits, gravy and sausage patties for me. The sausage patties were small, pressed thin on the grill and burned charcoal black on the bottom side. Biscuits and gravy; fair. My wife had the French Toast Platter: two eggs, French toast, diced potatoes and bacon (supposedly,) check the picture. Eggs and French toast acceptable. The diced potatoes not good. Seem to have been cooked earlier in the morning and reheated. And NO BACON. The community seems to love Pop's & GiGi's for burgers, fries and lunch. The food that has earned them their 4.6-star rating. Stick with that part of the menu. Avoid breakfast. In other news: Did you know that Inola is known as "The Hay Capital of The World." A reputation the area has earned because of the high quality of Bluestem Prairie hay grown and baled in the many surrounding hay fields And speaking of hay Eat a burger here. But, for me "hey, I'm going to have to bail on Pop's & Gigi's for breakfast."

The entire family working there were kind and I felt as though I had been welcomed into their home for a feast. They served us an "eat until you're full" style meal including but not limited to... - Coleslaw - Green Beans - Mashed Potatoes & Gravy - Bread Rolls with Butter & Apple Butter - Brisket - 7-Up Chicken - Stuffing - Amish Noodles For drinks we were offered either ice water, or iced black tea. For dessert we were served both a Chocolate Pie, as well as a Banana Cream Pie, along with coffee. It was such an inviting experience and definitely made me feel as though I was a part of their family's dinner. It was truly special! I'd absolutely recommend trying this at some point! Do note that this is a cash only operation, and you do need to make a reservation well in advance via phone.

Prairie Lane Bakery is a family-owned Amish eatery about a mile east of Highway 69 just outside…read moreChouteau, OK. A dirt road leads to its blink-and-you'll-miss-it door. No signs declare its existence. My wife and I found ourselves there for a meeting with her coworkers, one of whom has been a longtime frequenter of this establishment and recommended it as the site for the group's monthly dinner. She had made the reservation (required, for parties of at least 15) and had also been the one to choose our meal. I'm told the business can accommodate for many different allergies or diets and that they have a wide selection of meats, vegetables/sides, and desserts from which you can take your pick. The dining hall is in a nondescript white building across from the main house. It is far from fancy in keeping with the lifestyle of its proprietors. As in tin-metal walls, concrete floor, and gas-powered lights/heat. Metal folding chairs flank two long rows of folding tables covered in plastic tablecloths; our party of 12 sat in one row with a few seats to spare. The atmosphere is that of having a Sunday supper after church with kinfolk at grandma's. The (rather adorable) children of the (hardworking) women preparing and serving our food played along the borders of the room and ran through the doors, the air ringing with their laughter. Drinks (water or unsweetened tea only) were served as we arrived. Once everyone was present the food came out family-style - one large platter or bowl at a time, passed from one person to another. And now what you've all been waiting for: the food! The coleslaw wasn't very good; then again, I'm not a coleslaw fan and so might not be a good judge of it. The green beans could've come from a can for all the good they tasted. And the roast was dry, tasteless. That's where the negatives end. The baked chicken was tender/moist/juicy, all those words that make some people uncomfortable when talking period, let alone about food. The mashed potatoes were creamy, the white gravy perfectly rich, the country noodles expertly flavored, and the turkey dressing pure cheesy goodness. I can't forget the rolls, too, which when paired with homemade apple butter were the best I've ever had. After a brief rest to digest, we were served one kind of coffee and two kinds of pie - cherry and coconut cream. The cherry pie filling reminded me of a Pop-Tart but more intense, which wasn't a bad thing at all. Typically I don't like even the word coconut unless it's followed by "rum and pineapple juice", but that particular pie was delicious. It may have made me a convert. I haven't mentioned the service, but it was fantastic. Glasses never more than half-empty before being refilled. Constant questions of whether we needed anything else. Smiling faces and good conversation. We ate until we were stuffed and several people took home heaping to-go boxes, yet there was still a ton left of each food item. On the way out I picked up a loaf of banana but bread from the bakery side. The damage to my wallet for all of this? $27.59! Yep. All-you-can-eat comfort food for two in a place that feels like home for under $30. I'm definitely going back. Just as soon as I can round up 10-12 likeminded foodies so I can make a reservation.
