My necklace chain broke while touring Bainbridge Island yesterday. Fortunately, the pendant & chain…read morefell between my shirt and body. Located Joseph's to buy a new chain. The jeweler inspected it and repaired it for no charge. I'm able to continue my trip wearing the necklace. Thank you Joseph's.

Now that my project has been completed, I owe an updated review. I'm giving an overall 4-star score…read moreprimarily because of the pricing. While the customer service is great, they charge a significant premium for being considered "premier" jewelers in Bellevue. I initially brought in a special gemstone with a chip to get repolished. I was originally quoted around $1,000, which felt very high. After I mentioned finding a place in Kent that quoted $300, they brought their price down to around $450. The repolishing job turned out fantastic! Since they did a great job on the gem, I decided to ask about making a custom ring. I wanted a size 10 gold setting with two small accent diamonds. They found three diamond pairs ranging from 1.14-1.33 total carats. Their estimated total for the 14k gold setting and natural diamond pair came out to $14,050-$17,956, which is very high for a ring, in my opinion. When I asked about lab-grown diamonds instead, the estimate dropped to $9,800-$10,300. Breaking down the math: They estimated $5,000-$6,500 for just the 14k gold setting itself. That leaves roughly $4,000-$5,000 for a ~1.33 ctw pair lab-grown diamond pair, which based on my search online should only typically costs a few hundred dollars. That is an enormous markup! I decided to go with another local jeweler who quoted around $8,000 total to make the exact ring in higher-grade 18k gold, including CAD design, setting, and two side diamonds (~0.70 ctw). Overall, the customer service here was great and the store atmosphere is lovely, but the pricing carries a massive markup compared to the rest of the market. Taking off one star purely for the cost.

Brandon was the first to help us and apologized saying he didn't realize we were waiting. Again, no big deal he got right into figuring out what we had come in for. We said we wanted to look at engagement rights together and wanna see what we like and don't like cause how can you know unless you go try some on. We were then sat down with another associate, Sean. Idk if he was just looking to make only money that day but customer experience was horrible. He was asking what I was looking for I said I'm leaning towards a Dutch marquise but know they're hard to come by so I wanted to see marquise in person on my finger to get an idea if I'd like it in real life. Brandon had already laid out some marquise for me beforehand so Sean showed be them again and then talked AT me and explained what I wanted was an elongated hex... thank you, thats great to know although both are correct. He explained what cut and clarity were. Not something I was confused about but again, thanks. He pulled up some from his source and told us how much they were and it felt as if he was trying to make us leave or scare us away by mentioning the prices. Then he asked for timeline and my boyfriend didn't wanna say exactly what the timeline was in front of me and it's like a switch went off and he just wanted us out of his store. He was like okay well here's my card and lmk when you guys are ready. And then we just sat there in an awkward silence for a moment cause he dismissed us so fast we couldn't even process we were being kicked out lol. Anyway... I would not recommend coming here unless you can be perceived as being loaded, if you get what I'm saying. Horrible customer service from Sean. Brandon however, was great. Really wanted to support a jeweler local to us but I could never spend money at a place that treats their potential customers like this.

I dropped it off and less than 2 weeks later was contacted to pick it up. My experience was very good, both dropping it off and picking up the necklace. The repair was professional and well done. Cost was what was expected for that type of work. If you have some jewelry in need of repair, you should contact Lisa and see what she can do for you.

She made me feel very comfortable and was patient in helping me decide what size to size down to. I was debating between 4 and 3 7/8 for a long time and she advised doing a size 4 because I will eventually wear it with a wedding band, and having 2 rings apparently makes it feel tighter. So I tried on some sample wedding bands while I was there to get a feel of it, and she was right! Something I never would have known myself. Also incredibly fast service - 2 day turnaround time. When I went to pick up my ring, Lisa also let me know that I could stop by whenever to get my ring cleaned on the house. She truly cares about her clients and is happy to lend a helping hand and I so appreciate that about her! Cost was $110 pre tax, about $121 post tax.
