My husband purchased beautiful diamond rings for our anniversary....after 2 years, one of the stems to the back of the earring broke in my ear, earring was lost. Yet I had the back with the broken stem in my ear. I took it back to Westside Jewelers to replace the one lost. He was surprised that the earring broke there. Yet he was able to get me a new earring that is the same and I am happy to have both earrings again. He "stands behind his products" and I would encourage any one to purchase fine jewelry from him. I came in for a quote to get my ring fixed, he quoted a price that was $300 less than the two other quotes I received elsewhere, when I came back to pick up the finished product, it was perfect and he charged me less than his quoting price! It has been five years since I posted a review and I feel I have to add to it. In that time, we have brought Rick some pretty challenging things to fix and design. After receiving some dirty and mangled family jewelry, we were in despair as to what to do with some unusual issues. Rick jumped right in and went to work and handed back to us three incredibly beautiful clean, updated and invisibly repaired pieces that will be a delight to wear and pass on to our children. Gosh, you'd think after reading the other reviews on this page that Westside Jewelers would be reliable and trustworthy. Perhaps they are great with creating custom-made jewelry, but I was so disappointed with their repairs to my engagement ring. My ring was custom-made out of state, so I had to get it repaired by a jeweler here in Seattle, and someone suggested Westside Jewelers. A diamond was loose on my ring, so Westside Jewlers had to strengthen the prongs holding it in. They did a poor job, not only with the shape of the prongs being messy, but also with the color. When I pointed it out to the jeweler upon picking up my ring, he examined it, shined it, and called it good, commenting that he "used white gold," as if that should be good enough. However, his white gold that he used had more of a gold-tinge than the white gold on my ring. It just doesn't match the rest of the ring and was quite obvious. He also made an excuse about the messy shape of the prongs when I asked about that. I understand this may have been a difficult repair, but I wish he would have been honest that the repair was very sub-par and didn't match the quality of the rest of the ring. After I left, I discovered that a few other diamonds are noticeably loose. I'm very glad he didn't notice because I'll be taking my business elsewhere. Hopefully they can fix the prongs that he tried to repair. Such a shame. :( read more

My friend recommended this place to because I needed to sauder my necklace. I went to a couple of different places before I came here and they were all going to charge $35-50 which was outrageous for such an easy repair. I am so happy my friend referred me to Westside Jewelers because not only was the customer service great and turnaround to get my necklace back quick; the price was unbeatable, less than half of what all those other places were going to charge me! I ended up coming back for other small fixes such as changing the clasp on my bracelet and making the elephant on me necklace into a pendant instead of it being part of the chain. Every time I have gone in the staff has been friendly and welcoming and again the prices and turnaround have been great as well. You really do "Have a friend in the diamond business" and it is not a faceless corporation. I have been patronizing Westside Jewelers for nearly 25 years. Whether I was looking for a money clip, a watch, a tie bar, or just about any other jewelry related item I have always found nice examples that are just a little bit more unique than your standard shopping mall jewelry outlet. But that pales in comparison to the half dozen times I have had Rick (the artist/owner) make me one of a kind, custom pieces for my wife. I come in with some scribbles on a piece of paper (my idea of design) and it is like he can read my mind. Better than that he can read my wife's mind through me. The results never fail to surpass expectation. Understand, Rick does not use pre-made blanks and settings, he cuts his own wax molds and casts each one himself, so every custom piece truly is "one of a kind". He has always come in under the budget I give him (a rarity these days) so I always leave feeling I got the "friends and family" discount. Westside also stocks a wide array of watch batteries and can repair or engrave just about anything you bring them. My ring re-sizing turned out well. However, I was quoted two different prices, once when I came for a quote and the second time I came to drop off the ring to be fixed. I guess I could have put up a fight about it, but I didn't so I ended up paying $15 more than quoted. When I came in to pay, I was rung up at almost twice the first quote and had to correct the saleslady. Seems like thier pricing is whatever they want that day, which I didn't like at all. read more

I just signed up for Yelp just to post this review... The emerald in my 18-year-old wedding ring cracked and came out. I went to a jewelry store that has designed other jewelry for my wife in the past to get a replacement stone and have it set. I thought their price was too high for what I was looking for. I then went to Fred Meyer Jewelry thinking their price would be less; it was but just by a little. I asked a few friend who would know where I could find a high quality but reasonable jeweler. They referred me to Westside Jewelers. A week later, I got my ring back with a great looking stone in my shiny polished gold ring... at about 1/8th of the price that anyone else quoted to do the job. Really, I'm just some guy who walked in off the street and his price was 88% lower than anyone else's and my ring looks great. I will surely be going back to Westside Jewelers in the future. read more
