Well, they've changed hands again, apparently. I have a 17-year old cat, Spot who is very sick, diagnosed with GI Lymphoma. She gets in a place where she can't stop vomiting. Pain meds are necessary. I'm 72 and have my own health issues. I can't always get out. I have constant vertigo. I don't have food in the house right now because it's difficult for me to get out. Last time I went to this clinic, the vet, Hooper (I think) didn't even examine Spot. That's okay, it wasn't really necessary. But he said, "Anything you want, anything, you just say so!" Well, I called today to get more pain meds for Spot. They said NO. They need 2 days to think about it because it's a controlled substance. Now it's the weekend. If Spot gets another vomiting spell where she can't stop throwing up, I'll have to spend a fortune to go to an emergency vet. I know I'm not perfect. But I love my pets. I have 2 sick cats, one is 17 with cancer and the other is 20 with high blood pressure, kidney disease, and blindness. With my own health issues, it's a lot. I don't like being jerked around. read more

I had the same problem with incorrect information, poor communication, lack of caring and just an aura of "We can do whatever we want". Granted, there were a few nice employees and Mr. Hooper was pleasant but when you have a professional liar like leah as an office manager, things just trickle down from there. I went to Graef veterinary hospital just over a year ago and my only regret is not taking my senior husky there sooner. He was not eating so I took him to an emergency clinic who said he was fine. I wasn't okay with that and sent his lab work to Dr. St. Peter. As soon as we walked into our appt, she told me she was concerned and once she touched his belly, she immediately did an ultrasound and X-ray. She found a tumor. A month later, we had to schedule our appt to put him down. While it was the hardest time of my life, everyone there was amazing. They treated my boy with so much care. And when we put him down, we were given privacy and reassurance that we could take our time. Everything was so peaceful. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I highly recommend this hospital. They are also reasonably priced. read more

Long wait times Poorly organized- I mean REALLY unorganized, every single time I went there it was like a circus. 3 different people called me at different times about the same issue- they don't talk to each other or take notes on your file. They've called with appointments that don't exist or don't have appointments that do exist. They need a good office manager to come in and organize for them. I used to love this place, but I'm pretty upset with how they handled an emergency Situation with my 6m old puppy. I brought her in on Friday for her to be spayed, remove a dewclaw that had been bothering her, and remove her baby teeth that had not fallen out. Surgery went well and she had two stitches on her back ankle. Saturday morning, the stitches had been taken out (they weren't tied very tight, and I'm not sure if my other dog had chewed them off of her while she was sleeping or if she rubbed it and they came undone) and the wound was open but not bleeding. I called to explain the situation and they asked me to email a picture, which I did. Now, I COMPLETELY understand that it was a Saturday morning and they were busy. I'm not upset about that at all. I'm upset that they asked me to send a picture and had absolutely no follow up. I wasn't sure if I should take her to the emergency vet, or what I should do to help her in the meantime. It seems very unprofessional to not follow up with a client in a possible emergency situation. read more

Wonderful vet and office staff always friendly, even on busy days. I have been a client since Dr. Graef and continued on after Dr. Daigle took over. The clinic itself has been updated and it's nice that they can do a lot of lab work onsite now. I find their prices to be fair and their pricing is upfront and honest. Dr. Daigle was treating some of my pets while Dr. Graef was still there. Aside from the great care for other pets, he helped us make the best and honest decisions for our family and our senior dog Shelby who had urethral cancer. When it was time to say goodbye to Shelby they were very kind and compassionate. When Lucy was a puppy and broke her newly sprouted canine tooth he recommended a vet who could do the extraction and bone graft (recommended for young dogs) at less than half the cost of other places. It's also nice how they get to know your pets and remember them. Today 4 1/2 years later, while taking care of her latest tooth fractures, he remembered Lucy and her infamous puppy tooth fracture. Seems as though Lucy hasn't learned her lesson and still enjoys biting too hard. Lucy needs a new hobby! I have moved to Llano county and yet still brought my dog here for exam, two tooth extractions, and tumor removal surgery, that's how much I like this clinic. Dr. Daigle is amazing. He has a conversation with you, not at you. Seems very knowledgeable. Provided pros & cons about taking care of a cyst. Knew to the second when our boy would come out of sedation. Since Austin German Shepherd Rescue also uses this vet office, who better to take care of my GSD's health care than Dr. Daigle? So why not a perfect five? With the exception of the vet tech that got assigned to assist with our appointment, the rest of the staff is another story. I emailed the office requesting an appointment since the phone line was busy. Two days later, I still hadn't heard from the office, so I called and actually got through to make an appointment. I filled out all the online forms and had all of my boy's medical records emailed over. We arrive for the appointment & the tech starts asking me questions that I'd already thoughtfully & completely provided online prior to appointment date. It was a waste of my time to follow instructions online only to have to repeat the process in person. In this, the office could use an organizational overhaul. Now my boy is reactive: fear, leash & fence; with a very high prey drive. Rather than showing me a compassionate smile, I could see the staff rolling their eyes at each other, just a total lack of empathy. I could also say, better competent than good bedside manner but, as this was our first appointment, the former still remains to be seen. read more

I've found myself depending on my trust for Dr. Daigle and his team when I am not as comfortable as I should be with vets that are 30 minutes closer to me. I LOVED DR.Daigle and until recently had a great experience with them. I have 4 dogs, two were puppies I've had treated in the last 2 years, so we've had lots of visits. LOTS. At my wellness visit with my puppy this Wednesday, I asked a vet whom I love, what to do about my 7 year old Weimaraner who had a growth starting on his eye. She took one look at it and was so concerned said we need to get him in fast because of the rapid growth! I waited while they called the doc to see if he could do it. He could do it Friday and we were scheduled to drop of at 7 am. All went as planned at the drop off. Around 10:30 we got a call saying they couldn't do his surgery today due to an emergency. Ok I get that. But was confused. I said why can't he just do it in the afternoon- she replied " the dr leaves at 1:00". Still confused I said ok. I'm like what kind of doctor just leaves when he has a surgery scheduled ? We live 45 min away so it's not a quick drive. When I get there they have noted on his records WE had the appointment wrong and it was scheduled for next week. When confronted no one took responsibility and they said "sorry". no manager conversation - nothing . what??! I'm all for rescheduling for emergency. I'm understanding of scheduling mistakes. I gave them the chance to make it right and they denied it. JUST BE HONEST! Would you want to go to a vet clinic who won't even fess up to their own scheduling mistake? And then document it as if it was the customers fault? If they can't be honest about that, how can I trust the office with the big stuff?? Nope, can't. Me and my 4 are going elsewhere. Absolutely wonderful!!!! I have been in Austin for 15 years and this is the vet I've been looking for! Small town kindness, reasonable and fair prices, and great knowledge! We had a dog with a tooth knocked half out; we called our previous vet and they put us on the surgery schedule for 3 weeks later to have it pulled. They didn't even look at it first. I wanted a second opinion, so i called Graef and they squeezed us in that day! And not only that, their vet took one look at it, grabbed it with forceps to asses it and the tooth came right out! My dog never even yelped! On top of all of this, i was pregnant and having my baby in 3 days. Both my dogs were due for a physical and the receptionist was so sweet, she got us on the schedule that day for both physicals. And on top of that, they didn't even charge for the tooth!!! The prices are by far the best I've seen. We have finally found our forever vet!! It is definitely worth the short drive to Taylor. read more

We used Graef for a couple of years as our vet and the place where we board our dogs when we go on vacation. Not everything went smoothly all of the time, but the people were nice and great with our dogs. There have been a couple of times where we've had to wait longer than what I deem reasonable which is definitely less than ideal, but what can you do once you're already there? My wife called for 2 weeks to get an appointment just to get the dogs caught up on vaccines and was finally told we had an appointment. Today, she took the dogs to Graef which is a 25-ish minute drive for us to get those vaccines. They told her that they didn't have an appointment on the books and she would be considered a "walk-in" but she could wait. After 40 minutes of waiting with our dogs in the car, she called me and asked if I would be upset if the dogs didn't get seen today and explained what was happening. I told her that with the previous strikes they've had against them, it is just time to find a new vet and boarding place. They seem like a good business that can't get their scheduling and other little stuff together, and I could go to a few places that are closer so I will. I only ever went there in the first place because I was told that they are great by a friend, but after a couple of years of going there and having an unacceptable amount of disorganized experiences, I have to disagree. read more

They stole my money, literally! My previous vet retired and I needed a prescription for my two dogs heartworm medication. Called this office and told them what I needed, that I wanted a prescription to order the heart medication online. They said they would have to see the dogs and do a heartworm test even though the dogs had been on the medication for years and I had the records. They said it did not matter that I had the records, their vet had to "establish a relationship" with the dogs. Two hundred dollars ($200.00) later after they gave them an exam and a heartworm test, they gave us their website and said we could order the prescription there, that they did not do handwritten prescriptions. After fighting with their website, my wife went back to the vet's office to get help with the prescription. She was then informed that they don't do business with Chewys and that they don't hand write prescriptions. We could only get and fill the prescription through them for over a 100% markup vs online pricing. They were told up front the reason for the visit and took our money anyway then refused to provide the service we went in for. read more

Lots of plus over the old clinic. I GO TO DR GRAEF in Copeland Vet clinic. He and Dr MCCLOUD joined hands and opened the new clinic. My former neighbor Tom Hau took his beautiful much loved Great Dane to be spayed at the Coupland Vet. Same symptoms as yours. Difference is he had an Necropsy done on her in Taylor by the new owner of Graef Vet hospital. There was a vein that wasn't reattached. A first year vet shouldn't miss that much less one who has been in operation for decades. Dogs are dying when people take their pets their for surgery's. This is happening again and again read more

They brought me in we went into our own room the vet came in and took care of us and we were out in no time. I usually don't write reviews unless they are really good or really bad. Unfortunately, I had a bad experience with Graef today. I had made an appointment for my dogs annual and their first available was 12 days later which was no big deal. But they recommended on the phone to go to another clinic in cedar park if I wanted to get in sooner but decided to wait since they have performed all the records in the past. Upon arrival, I called the front desk as they want you to wait in the car with your pet until they come get it. I arrived on time with only 3 cars in the lot I thought I would get in and out quick which was my previous experiences. I called to let them know where I was and they would come out and get him. After I called, 4 other vehicles arrived with their dogs. These people went directly into the clinic with their pets and all came out with their pets finished before I saw anyone. As I was getting frustrated and about to call thinking they forgot about me, finally 50 MINITUES LATER someone came out to get my dog. At this point I was done and just kept thinking that I should have taken the ladies advice on the phone to drive the extra 30 miles to cedar park for the annual. I could understand if the lot was full and people were taken in the order as they arrived. So they either took people with appointments that came late before me or took appointments of people who came early before me, either way it rubbed me the wrong way enough to write this review. Anyways, what had normally taken 15 minutes in the past took an hour and a half to complete. I know they had a lot more staff in the past but only one vet now so be prepared to wait in your car well past your appointment schedule or do what the others did and disregard their "stay in the car" policy and walk in with your pet for faster service. read more

If I could give this clinic zero stars I would. I took my service dog in to be euthanized after being told that she would be sedated before hand as that is CRUCIAL given that she was a support animal. Not only did they not sedate her, they also were completely void of any and all empathy. What should have been a dignified experience and sendoff for my loyal companion of 11 years turned into a horrific experience to say the least. Because she was trained to support me, when I became upset, she began to fight the euthanasia toxin with all of her might. My dog who served me for her entire life had to endure a painful and slow death while I held her in my arms. Not to mention, the tech who was assisting, had obnoxiously long acrylic nails which dug into my dogs body as she was trying to restrain her which only added to the pain. In my opinion, people on death row are treated with more respect and dignity. For anyone needing to put their pet to sleep--look elsewhere! This place is awful. read more

I find it amazing that those writing 1 star reviews didn't use this vet. Yelp used to remove those types of reviews as they are useless - they don't really tell you what to expect. So here's the real facts. 1. It's first come, first serve. That means driving out there and waiting. I waited 2 hours today. 2. They are sometimes closed. Well, heck, this could be frustrating but call first. They do answer the phone but there's no call waiting or voicemail so you may have to call more than once. 3. The pricing is AMAZING! Standard office visit is $20. They don't "get even" by overcharging on procedures. In fact, today I had something done on my dog that cost me $58 in total (with visit fee). The SAME procedure at a reasonably priced Austin vet was $127 two weeks ago. 4. The staff is friendly compassionate and, most importantly, skilled. I feel we had the vet's full attention and we were not rushed out. He heard out all concerns. My very favorite part - there was NO attempt to talk me up to a more expensive procedure. Our specifics: I was aware of why my dog's ear was wonky and I knew it was normal for vets to recommend surgery for it. I called around and got an estimate from both of my normal vets. It cost $500 at Thrive (a local value-priced vet I haven't tried out yet) and $1200 at my two, soon to be not, go to vets. I did my homework. The surgery is very painful and isn't necessarily more effective. The blood hematoma my dog had on his ear is not life threatening and will actually go away on its own but may leave a scar. He's had this before and we'd had it drained at another vet last month. I turned down the expensive surgery and was using Arnica and Sulfur to help the body reabsorb the blood and heal his ear. He was almost past it when he got skunked. Went on a head shaking frenzy and brought the full force of the hematoma back. It had gotten huge and my boy was clearly uncomfortable. This led me to seek out Dr. Graef who I'd been considering but had not yet tried. Taylor is a haul and waiting a pain. I am VERY glad to have gone out there. The clinic is old but spotless. Oscar got exactly the care he needed. So if you want new, a specific appointment and convenience, go elsewhere. There are excellent vets all over Austin. If you want great care and are willing to trade convenience for a much lower price, go out to Taylor and visit Graef. read more

I will never bring another animal to them ever. My 9 year old Doberman was throwing up, we took her to our vet (whom we love) here in Coupland but he couldn't find anything wrong just by feeling of her tummy so we took her to this veterinarian for X-rays (Coupland vet doesn't have xray machine) they did bloodwork, X-rays, we even left her overnight for a Barium treatment and I was told it would be around $500, the next day I went to pick her up and the bill was $771 I was shocked but I didn't show it I just paid it and thought well you know we love her and it is what it is. Two days later she was throwing up again and I called it was Saturday I left a message on their phone they (today's Tuesday) they never responded so I will never use them again I've gone back to my old vet and we're trying changing her diet and feeding smaller amounts several times a day. Review for Doctor Wade: I took my 20 year old cat to Dr. Wade. Lucky couldn't walk and his age had been getting the best of him. She never once gave us the option of a possibility of him needing to be put down but charged for sub Q fluids, an injection, and in house labs. Dr. Wade then told me to bring him back for X-rays. I contacted another vet for a second opinion and the recommendation was a choice of euthanasia instead of more expensive testing due to age and condition. I'm very disappointed in my experience with this clinic and vet. I felt Dr. Wade was geared towards more costly testing than giving Lucky a Humane Option. read more
