Tabby cat named Mitzi

They saved my vicious tabby grandcat Mitzi, after she decided to eat thread. They provided excellent care even after she maimed two vets, and even set up an in person follow up where she scratched yet another vet tech. She's honestly really nice at home. Thank you and I'm sorry

Our rottie puppy, Motley, was at VC for 4 days this summer with an extreme case of pneumonia, and I can't say enough good things about their vets and their staff. He received the absolute best care, and proactively updated us daily on his situation. They always took our calls and offered for us to visit nightly. I could truly tell how much the staff loved him. It was hit and miss for a while but we were confident he was in the best hands. Now he's almost a year old and a happy and healthy guy thanks to the truly amazing people at Violet Crown.

We lost our sweet Toby yesterday but felt called to leave a review for Violet Crown and their staff. We knew it was going to be a tall task to save our pup and the compassion they showed Toby and our family while he fought for his life was truly special. Though it wasn't the end result we had ever imagine and we are beyond heartbroken- I take solace in knowing that he was cared for so well in the last days of his life and a special thank you to Chelsea, Dr. Grier and Dr Kennedy and all the staff that fought so hard for Toby and our family. In a job that can sometimes feel thankless, thank you from the Black family

I'm extremely happy with Dr. Kelly Might and the surgery he performed on my 6 yr old Staffordshire Bull Terrier/ Australian Cattle Dog mix! Buddy needed a very unique surgery to address his Luxating Patella tendon and partial ACL tear. Dr. Might explained all of the treatment options to me and kept me informed about everything from start to finish. Dr. Might is friendly and professional and I highly recommend consulting Dr. Might if your dog ever needs surgery!

I am beyond grateful and thankful for everyone at Violet Crown. My sweet Rottie was diagnosed with bone cancer in February. I met with a couple of oncologists in Austin to figure out the best treatment. Ultimately, I went with Dr. Brehm and her treatment plan which was to amputate the back leg and do 6 rounds of chemo. Dr. Kennedy did Mack's amputation and was so grea throughout the entire surgery day keeping me informed and constantly communicating updates to me. Forrest and Casey were predominately my oncology techs and always so warm every time we came in for a chemo treatment. Today was his last round and his scans are clear and he is moving around so great -I thought not having a leg would really slow him down, but it has not! After his major surgery, the team was on-call for me 24/7 - someone was always responding to texts/emails for my questions and concerns. It was truly such a comforting feeling during this emotional and hard journey. I can't say enough good things. Dr. Might is also amazing - he did my other dog's knee TPLO surgery and she healed so quick and easy from that! HIGHLY recommend VCVS!! Thank you for your care and support!!!

Amber a day before surgery.

The amount of money they charge to help heal your pet is astounding. I can't believe they get away with this . Profit over patients .

My friend had the same terrible experience as I did so this is not just a one off. The doctor will never speak to you or see you after the initial first visit, he will just examine your dog for 5 minutes. The nurse will then report back whatever he says without seeming like she has even the slightest knowledge about your pets history. This was for a $1,200+ visit too. Dr. Dolan always seemed to be out of the office when I would call for my critical dogs condition as well. Also, be aware that the oncology department does not work on Fridays at this office. Even if your dog goes to their ER on a Friday with a serious problem, the Oncologist's nurse won't be able to speak with you until Monday. I had called with serious concerns about my dog on a Thursday and again just spoke to the nurse and not the Doctor. They made it seem like his symptoms weren't an issue but come to find out it was a major sign that my dog's tumor was rupturing. Have I heard from Dr. Dolan since knowing that my dog was taken into their ER that Friday and had to be put down? Nope. Because they do not care about you or your pet. Just the amount of money you give them. We also had an issue where they double charged us over $1,000 too and we had no idea for over a month. I found out at a separate ER visit from the nurse. So always check your statements! My dog had radiation treatment for his tumor at VCA and Dr. Treuil was truly incredible. He took the time to speak with me over the phone and the staff even reached out to me when they saw my dog went to the AVES ER for an eye ulcer. We were going to switch to VCA oncology since we heard great things about them, but unfortunately my dog passed before we could make the change. Please think twice before going to AVES because you will more than likely regret it.

This emergency hospital is closest to home so that's why we've tried it 3 times. That ended today though, we won't be back. I understand that for an emergency animal hospital acute issues are seen first. However, this location feels like the wait is forever when there's less than satisfactory communication from those working, especially from the front desk staff. Most people's pets are like family and when you have to bring them in for any type of emergency it's highly stressful for both owners and pet. I've made 3 visits here and had to wait for 30 minutes or more without being notified why and that is not okay. Feeling as if you've been forgotten while your pet is stressed, hurt or in pain is unacceptable. Sometimes all it takes is a check in to let people know they're still being attended to while waiting, and not forgotten. Today we arrived not knowing for sure if what my dog had vomited was blood or not (because we aren't trained professionals). We called before arriving to let them know we were on our way. There weren't any other pets waiting in the lobby when we arrived. The receptionist kindly checked us in, and it was quick because we had been there before. She brought paperwork over for us to verify info and sign. The first thing that I noticed is the age of my dog was wrong. This wouldn't be such a big deal if the prior two times that we had gone there, I brought it to their attention that the age of my dog was wrong. So that means they still hadn't fixed it since the last time we were there. A dog's age and weight are very important when it comes to administering any type of care. I let the receptionist know and she said she would fix. That was the last communication we had as we waited in the lobby for almost 40 minutes. People came out of the back with their animals. Other people arrived with their pets. Finally, because my dog was becoming very anxious, I decided to look up other emergency hospitals to see where else I could take her. I found one and we let the receptionist know we were leaving. They simply said okay, no questions asked and we walked out the door. I hope no other animal owners experience this type of service, lacking in compassion and care.

There were times in the last two years when I thought I was close to having to make the decision no one wants to make, but Dr. Hoh and her team never gave up on Benny. I greatly appreciate the time Dr. Hoh has put into researching Benny's case (she has probably even done it after hours!) and her detailed follow-up calls with me. I also appreciate how Courtney and Jamie never think it's a big deal that Benny is very vocal with them in the room (haha), and how they don't think I'm too nuts with all of my emails, calls, and questions. They all love on Benny, and it means the absolute world to me. They're angels, and Benny and I are so lucky to have all of you on our side. Grateful just doesn't even seem like enough. Thank you all so much for everything you do for Benny. I cannot recommend Heart of Texas (and getting your dog a specialist) enough. I have no doubt that everyone at Heart of Texas is awesome, but if you need an Internist for your pet, do not look any further. Dr. Hoh and her team are the best. Period. Also, a shout-out to Carissa and the front desk team, who are also so kind and helpful. Benny and I think you're the best too.

The staff were pleasant, but before even examining him, they presented a treatment plan with charges for radiology, CT, and even an MRI. That raised concerns for me, especially since the injury didn't appear orthopedic. I chose to pay the exam fee and follow up with his primary vet the next morning. He was diagnosed with cellulitis and improved quickly with antibiotics. I'd use caution with after-hours clinics--reading reviews ahead of time can really make a difference.

This is an emergency vet after all. I've been traumatized by almost every euthanizing I've had to do - and most of the time it's do to going through the responsibility of that choice and watching someone you love dying or suffering, and then the veterinarian or tech makes things confusing, could make you feel guilty, goes too fast with the process or fails to ensure the pet isn't relaxed or at least not alarmed. Trust is a big deal with the process. I would come back in the future with the assurance that the folks here care for both the pet and parent. No guilt trips or added aniexty. I can now compare emergency clinics as I've been to two within two months. Hill Country Animal Emergency Hospital is a much better choice for your loved pet. Hill country only charged me $300 to be seen and $900 to stay over night. I felt comfortable here and like my pet was going to be cared for. The number 1 issue I have with VEG is when they determined what was wrong with my animal - they did not provide the medicine to relieve him UNTIL after the vet on duty took 20 minutes to draw up a "plan"( new bill to Pay) then from there my family took another 30 minutes to decide what to do.... At the time I didn't realize they should have administered the treatment so he could breathe properly. ... why wait???????? If they truly cared about the animal in their care they'd give the medicine that would allow him to breathe immediately. I feel sick about this place.. if I went to hill country I know they would have don't better and more than likely I'd have my best friend still. I wish I went somewhere else. From the second we arrived, Dr. Pearson and the entire care team--Megan, Ethan, and Nicole (the CEC)--were absolutely incredible. They provided top-tier medical care for our girl, but what I appreciated most was how they handled my wife and me. We were in a total state of panic, and they stayed calm, kept us informed, and treated us with so much empathy. It's rare to find a team that can balance high-level emergency medicine with such genuine bedside manner. Dr. Pearson is a total pro, and the nursing staff made us feel like our pup was their only priority. The staff worked patiently with me to avoid sedation with my cattle dog (if you know, you know). They were able to complete the necessary diagnostics and confirm that she did have an obstruction. Since we were there until around 8am, the team even set up a room with a futon so I could get some rest while staying with her, which meant a lot during such a stressful night. VEG first contacted my regular vet, who unfortunately wouldn't take her that morning, but they went above and beyond by proactively reaching out to another fantastic local vet who could perform the surgery (this was done to help reduce my costs, they were willing to perform the surgery). That support was incredibly appreciated and honestly something I would have struggled to coordinate on my own in the moment. Nova's surgery went well, and I brought her right back to VEG afterward for post-op care. I brought my laptop and they set me up a room so I could work from there, which greatly reduced the stress on her (and eased my mind). I truly believe this team played a huge role in her speedy recovery, as she' having healthy bowel movements just 3 days post-op and showing minimal discomfort. I am incredibly grateful for the care we received throughout the entire process. Without their diagnosis & quick actions, Nova may very well not be here today
