Although I'm writing this review with a heavy heart due to the passing of my fur baby, I had to give a shout out to the team at VEG. I took my 100lb Belgian Mal here Friday for what appeared to have been a severe allergic reaction to the bee that stung him. When I got there, he was not moving much, and the team rushed to the parking lot, carried him inside, and did everything they could to bring my baby back. I witnessed their hard work right there in front of my own eyes, but sadly, I lost him. The team was so empathetic, loving, and caring. They put us in a private room to have as much time as we wanted with him, walked us through the cremation process. The main doc there was amazing; he was so sweet in explaining what could have possibly been the cause behind losing him. I've been a dog owner for over 30 years, have gone to many ER, Urgent Care, and vets for many different issues, and never been treated the way VEG staff treated us and tried to save our baby. We took our 16 year old dog to VEG in Cedar Park a little over a week ago. They immediately triaged him and made a diagnosis of an inverted (flipped stomach). They took all the precautionary measures to ensure his condition did not worsen while we decided the best course of action. Nobody looks forward to bringing their pet into emergency care and needing to bring them in not once, but TWICE for hospitalization in less than a month is extremely stressful and terrifying. Everyone that I dealt with at VEG was wonderful, compassionate and kind. The atmosphere is calm despite being an emergency center and the layout is cleverly geared towards keeping the owners involved and informed while their pets are being treated. My beloved Buddy Willis was bitten in the night by a pit viper, and I furiously checked my phone for local providers who could provide emergency care. VEG--a few minutes away--popped up, and the reviews were solid. I loaded Buddy into the car. He was still whining, and my heart was racing. I nervously walked into the emergency clinic, and someone immediately came out to carry my sweet boy into the facility. They quickly confirmed the snakebite and administered antivenin. He was given a supportive IV, and an empathetic technician was pretty much by his side from that point on. I was allowed--even encouraged--to stay close by. Other than going home to sleep for a few hours, I was able to sit with him and offer encouragements in our shared dialect. The clinical staff clearly love animals, and they showered Buddy with affections throughout the course of his stay; that approach obviously kept the worst of (both our) stress at bay. When his lab work stabilized the next day, I was referred to a wound care provider and given thorough aftercare instructions. At each juncture, I was told by the capable vets what was proposed, the treatment rationale, and how much it would cost. Emergency care for animals and humans is not cheap, and the antivenin is a big-ticket medication, but the transparency and lack of judgment regarding my choices was laudable. Buddy's home now, waiting for a small wound to close. Otherwise, he's back to his impossibly cheerful self, and wagging his way though our days and weeks as before. I'm deeply appreciative of the care Veterinary Emergency Group promptly provided, and would recommend them to anyone who's navigating an urgent medical situation with a furry family member. VEG runs an incredible service filled with so much love, kindness and informative support. Our dog Huxley ate a potentially dangerous amount of chocolate (yes it was our fault for leaving it out) and when we came home we saw that the entire bag was gone. We called VEG and they instructed us to bring him in right away. Huxley had to go through a series of vomiting inductions and needed to spend the night to be observed. It was the middle of the night and we worked with the graveyard techs and doctors who couldn't have been more helpful in what was a very confusing and difficult experience. Like all emergency medicine, it isn't cheap but there is no price we wouldn't pay to have our fur children be taken care of with such a high standard of care and love. VEG is an amazing resource for the community and I'm so glad that they exist. read more

I feel compelled to write this for animals cannot speak for themselves. Upon arrival we were greeted and seen by the dr after she was done with the previous patient. Afterwards I sent the records for her to review. Things were off to a good start. ~ 20 minutes later a tech told me they were getting the estimate together. Then an hour passed and still no update. Finally about 1.15h later another dr came to talk to us, asking identical questions and also adding conditions such as incontinence, which I never said. She also asked me if my goal was to take him home and keep him comfortable. I told her no, my goal is his safety and I was told he needs to be hospitalized by the previous dr. I asked if she had spoken to the previous dr and looked at the records because it felt like I was repeating all the things that were previously discussed. She then went to talk to the previous dr. When she came back she mentioned all the things and meds we were already giving at home. I inquired about the antibiotics the previous dr mentioned (since that was a new thing we could try) and she said she didn't recommend it for my dog. I asked why is the antibiotics no longer recommended and what caused the diagnosis to change. She went back to talk to the previous dr again. At this time it's almost 2h and still no clear diagnosis. I walked over and spoke to both of them. Then I was told he will get antibiotics after all. I asked why is there so many inconsistencies and lack of communication. Here's what I didn't like. Instead of being honest and apologizing they made a bunch of excuses and white lies. 1) the 1st dr said the antibiotics isn't recommended for other dogs but for mine it is ok because of his condition, thus the confusion. But, clearly I was asking about my dog and not the other dogs and the 2nd dr explicitly said no antibiotics for my dog until I demanded to know why. 2) then she said an animal recently died there so that's why they were behind. Here's my take. I'm sad that happens and I know it's out of their control but not once did anyone inform me of delays. When I came there was only 1 patient, and about 6-7 staff members hovered around together on their iPads. I didn't see any urgency from any staff for this animal's death either. I was at the hospital twice the previous 2 days and those all took at least 3 hours. Waiting for care isn't out of my realm of expectations. But the lack of communication, ownership, and honesty is my reason for this review. Animals cannot speak or advocate for themselves. If for some reason my dog was put on the wrong regimen how would I know? Would they be honest about it? There was clearly a huge disconnect of communication and handoff, and now I hear about a death there. I took my meds and got my dog the heck out of there. I didn't trust them caring for my dog and keeping him safe. read more

The staff here are absolutely incredible! I was of course very anxious taking my pup into an emergency vet for the first time and they greeted me and triaged him right away. They took wonderful care of both me and my fur baby and I could not recommend them enough! The prices are high, as to be expected with an ER vet and I don't have pet insurance, but the care and reassurance was 100% worth it! read more

Heck, I'd give this place a 10 out of five stars! My child, a 4yr old Boston female was having digestive issues. (Vomiting) i called my Small Town Vet who told me it wasn't an emergency to her. Could see my dog in 3-4 weeks. I called VEG Cedar Park and the told me to bring her in, no appointment required, and even offered to let me speak with the doctor Rt now. When I arrived, it was "all hands on deck" approach to taking care of my HoneyBear. During our visit a dog arrived that was a passenger in a motor vehicle accident. We brought our 11 year dog in this morning; he had been vomiting since late last night. We were immediately met by a technician with the veterinarian right behind her. The vet diagnosed him right away and discussed treatment options. It turned out he had hemangioma sarcoma and the best decision was to euthanize him. The two were very kind and compassionate. I came to them for a second opinion in end of life care to make sure I was making the right decision. Our 10 yr old Joey, who has diabetes, developed pancreatitis symptoms which led to issues with high blood glucose levels. After being evaluated by our regular vet at 9:30 am, we had to transfer to VEG Cedar Park for more hands-on care throughout the day and overnight. From the minute we walked in, Dr. Crawford and team were caring and thorough in evaluating Joey, clear and caring in all communications to us, and transparent about proposed overnight care plan and associated costs. The techs quickly started Joey on fluids and ran a few tests to verify his electrolytes and glucose levels, then gave appropriate treatment. The office manager was able to quickly schedule an ultrasound via a visiting service to confirm the inflamed pancreas. Luckily their testing showed Joey did not go into acidosis/ketosis. After hours of fluids and electrolytes, Joey finally was able to eat enough of his regular diabetic food to get his insulin (Vetsulin) injection. His glucose count started to go down and he started feeling better. The techs really loved on him while he was there. They even sent a cute photo at 11 pm! The next morning Joey was feeling much better, ate his normal breakfast and received his insulin. By the time we went to pick him up, his glucose and electrolytes were all stable. We are very impressed with the VEG care team and thankful for their care of our sweet Joey. Based on our experience, we highly recommend them. read more

I cannot say enough great things about VEG. The staff there are truly the most welcoming, patient, calm, and caring people out there. I went in because my boy, Moshu, started acting unusual late at night. He would start choking/dry coughing sporadically then he became restless and couldn't get in a comfortable position when he laid down. I could tell something was bothering him, but didn't know what which started freaking me out. I called VEG and described what was going on and they advised me to come in for possible GDV due to his breed/size. Once we arrived, they immediately got to work in no time. My boy is an anxious one when it comes to new places and they were extremely patient and calm with him. Luckily they were able to rule out GDV, but he did have minor things going on which we were able to address. Thank you to the staff for all your help/work. I will continue to go to VEG for any emergency needs for my boy. 10/10 recommend! read more

I want to make sure this place gets the recognition it deserves. I called around 9:00 PM to ask some questions, and I love that a vet answered and was able to guide me to the next steps. We brought our dog in, who was seen relatively quickly and even serviced quickly. They were able to let me know that she was needing to be put to sleep within a short time frame before moving me to the room. The open concept is nice for easy access to people when you need them, however, hard getting an end of life diagnosis in front of strangers. I wouldn't change the layout, just something to be aware of. They moved us to the room and Dr. Coulter DVM was incredible from start to finish. His bedside manner and professionalism was so helpful during a hard time. The techs were also incredibly kind of helpful during the entire process. Once she passed, the tech who took care of her afterwards and the ones who walked me through the process on picking up her ashes - they were all incredibly kind and helpful, as well. I would highly recommend coming here for your pet's needs. read more

My husband and I took our dog Charlie to VEG on 12/13/24 around 5 am. Dr. Melis Odabas-Geldiay and the two support staff helping her were absolutely INCREDIBLE with our dog Charlie and my husband and me. I'm so sorry I don't remember the names of the two staff members working with Dr. Melis, but one was a very tall male and the other a female with blond hair. My husband and I are blown away with the compassion and care they showed to our dog and us. They were so kind and comforting from the SECOND we walked through the door. They were very thorough and explained everything step by step. They addressed our dog's needs in a very timely manner. They were so gentle with our dog and made him as comfortable as possible, getting down on the floor with him and letting us stay with him throughout the assessment and treatment. These people truly care about animals and people. I HIGHLY recommend that anyone come here for emergency vet needs. Thank you all so so much! read more

I am beyond grateful to Dr. Polyoka and Jenny and their team for the care that they gave to my year old blue heeler after receiving a venomous snake bite to the face. They were kind, compassionate, respectful, decisive and skilled at handling a very distraught, very athletic dog. He fought them at every point while they acted to help him and they never got frustrated, never gave up and treated him as if he was their own fur-baby. They answered my questions when I could hardly formulate a thought in my brain at 3am. They worked with me to help me determine what extent and level of care he required taking into consideration that none of this is cheap. It took me an hour to get to them and now I know without hesitation where I am going if I ever have another pet emergency. I also watched the other doctors and staff's behavior with other patience. They were ALL calm, empathetic and compassionate. While I hope I never have a reason to have to go there again, I won't hesitate to return if there is ever a need. read more
