We dropped our mom and pop veterinary Hospital after 30 years, with much heartbreak. It had been bought by some conglomerate. Our groomer of over 10 years recommended this clinic, and I can see why. This is only our second time here, but our experience has been excellent. There's a lot to like. The veterinarian is thorough and a good communicator. The technicians (we've worked with two, one being Maya) are kind, intelligent and hard working. In addition to all the regular animal well-being and internal medicine stuff, this vet does house calls, holistic medicine, laser therapy, pain management, acupuncture, dermatology, radiology and ultrasound, and dental work and surgery. The transparency in pricing and flexibility in working within your means and desires, left me very impressed. No surprises. Every question answered. My one suggestion is that I'd like to get to know the vet more personally. I would love it if she would introduce herself when she comes in. I would like her name on all the invoicing. Finally, the serenity and homeyness of this super cute place is conducive to calmness, which helps so much. My dog left happy. Wow! The first time we walked in, my dog decided to take a dump right there in the middle of the lobby. This dog is house trained and more of a lady than I am, but she wanted to give them a heads up that she isn't to be trifled with. They were so gracious about dealing with this. Thank you! read more

This was our first visit to Paz, the environment was very warm and inviting and the staff was super friendly. The way I would describe is the open concept kitchen of vet offices. You get to stay with your pet the entire time which is really great, especially if you have a nervous pet. Pretty good for a first time client. However, they gave my cat a 2nd rabies vaccine when I had told them I was sure he had gotten it (he had). Good vet care, but like all businesses, they want to sell you something extra. First time clients get 50% off and that was nice. They were super kind and listened to me about my concerns, but not convinced they weren't just trying to run up my bill. So, my cat did not enjoy the visit, and that's an understatement. He had basically an anxiety meltdown, hissed and screamed at everyone including me, defacated on himself, the works, I'm not 100% sure why. What really impressed me is the lengths that the staff were willing to work with me, despite him basically tying up the room for 2 hours because no one could get close to him to put him back in his carrier. They offered several options, from different ways to trap him to sedatives, and never made me feel bad for basically taking up the space. Like I understand it's a business and they probably had other patients so I really appreciate them all working with me and empathizing with both me and my cat. We finally made it out after a sedative shot. Just soo impressive. You usually see more of the business side of the vet in my experience, but they really cared about his well-being so much. My pups, Bluebonnet and Bo Peep, have been going to Paz North for a few years now, and we have always had such a positive experience. Dr. Wolfe is so amazing at helping to make my fearful rescue pups as comfortable as possible and the entire team, from vet techs to front desk, always makes the visit a good one. I've never felt like they've recommended anything that wasn't in the best interest of the dogs, and they communicate very clearly and thoroughly with me as the dog mom. We have tried out this clinic a few times, with different animals (with different needs and tempers) and it's been a great experience each time. They were also so patient when you are concerned and it's above and beyond in my opinion. From the Vets to the techs to the staff at the front desk, they really seem to care about your experience. The last time I was there with one of my little ones, they suggested a pain med as a topical that we had never tried before- after seeing how it made my cat a zombie and unable to lift his head or eat for a few days, - dare I write catatonic - they kept in touch with me and updated everything so we are sure to never give him that med again. I'm sure it's not easy dealing with pet owners, so I am thankful to have found a spot that is compassionate given the job & circumstances. read more

Cold with a strange odor, and a touch of fluorescent lighting. Not at Paz Vet. At Paz Vet, you get boho, kitschy vibes that make you feel like you're at a chic coffee shop. Adorned with cute couches and chairs, and an artsy wall full of thanks. Honestly, this is just the perfect place to be. From the moment you check in your pups, they offer water or cold brew for the parents. The rooms have metal tables if needed, but most of the check ups involve your doctor getting to know your pet. Dr. Julien sees both of my little guys. For their first check ups, he made them feel comfortable with reassuring words and pets, along with treats. Dr. Julien is incredibly knowledgeable. You don't feel rushed and he answers any and all questions you may have. Rachel has also been our vet tech and she is nothing, but exceptional! I always feel like Paz does an amazing and awesome job when our two dogs are sick or need an annual appointment. Booking an appointment is easy online and they do have Saturday appointments as well. During covid-19, they make things easy by picking up the dog from your car when you arrive. They inform you of everything that they found through a phone call. You pay through the phone and they soon come out with your pet. It doesn't get much easier than that. Since our family has two rescue dogs, it always is hard to get them to go to the vet because of fear. But the staff at Paz is always good at making them feel comfortable, being gentle and being super patient. One thing I would say is that Paz does recommend things that might not be completely necessary. I simply decline these things and they are pretty good at respecting that. Could not even fathom taking my dog to any other vet. When I first got my pup I had been taking him to other veterinarians (I didn't know of PAZ). PAZ is second to none and I am so grateful that I found them several years ago. They have provided next level care to my pup and are always so helpful to the humans as well. Going to the vet can be scary for both the pet and the owner, but PAZ makes this as easy of an experience as possible with Vets who spend time with you and your animal and really explain things. Their prices are by far the most fair I've seen and I don't feel like I'm being taken advantage of line I have at other Vets with much lesser than service. They are very accommodating and can get pets in on short notice at times. I would still recommend an appointment, but they are worth calling if there is something that needs to be addressed same day as well. read more

We just had the most incredible experience at Paz on Burnet. Our sweet girl Gypsy has some cysts that need checking out and our visit with another vet a few weeks ago didn't go smoothly. We knew we needed to seek out another vet and our friends recommended Paz. Poor Gypsy typically gets major anxiety at vet visits, shits the floor out of fear, they started recommending she take a big dose of gabapentin prior to visits. The last visit at the other visit really showed us it may not be Gypsy it may be the wrong vet for us. I am SO glad we went with our gut on this. From the second we walked into Paz and the perfectly decorated lobby and all the smiling faces that greeted us, they said our room was ready and walked us straight back I felt like we were at a boutique hotel. Micheal Barker walks in who immediately feels like a zen master. He greeted Gypsy with gentle kindness that immediately brought her at ease. She loves the treats and cheese wiz. He made both Gypsy and myself feel relaxed. I already knew we were in the right place when meeting Michael. Then the amazing Dr. Tackett walks in and drops to the floor greeting and kissing and scratching Gypsy. Her tail was wagging she was literally smiling the whole time. I couldn't believe it. She was kind and incredibly thorough every step of the way. When it came time for Michael to walk Gypsy back for cytology, she wagged her tail and ran off with him! You guys. This never ever ever ever happens. She usually cries and pulls and find back to me. I heard Dr. Tackett with her telling her what a freaking rock star she was. My heart just exploded! I left with all questions answered, plan moving forward and our hearts full that we found our new vet. I wish this was my primary doctor! Thank you to everyone today. read more

I cannot say enough good praises for Paz and Dr. Tackett!!! I have a senior schnauzer with sick sinus syndrome and hypothyroidism. I have used this vet for many years. My senior dog Olivia was brought in for a teeth cleaning after being told she is in pain due to her teeth. After the surgery we followed the doctors order at home perfectly. Once two weeks had passed it was clear this dog was in far more pain. She was brought in for a follow up, she was put back on the same pills that she received after surgery. She fully completed the first round of medications. Once the second course of medication was completed Olivia was still in great pain. I had to bring her in for 3rd follow up. There was signs of infection and surgical errors. She had to be put under for a 2nd procedure. Pawz even felt the need to charge me $150.00 for the 2nd surgery. It has been about a month post 2nd surgery. Olivia has shown no signs of improvement. Her teeth chatter with every bite, every lick and every movement in her mouth. It's really heartbreaking to see a senior dog in clear pain. I have not filled any complaints with TBVME yet. I urge everyone to please make another choice for your pets needs we have many options here. read more

Hurts me to post a 1-star review, but my dog's been suffering for a week and I just can't stand it anymore! For some background, I've taken my dog to Paz East and North (whichever has availability first) for two years. I didn't know any better -- I thought I was giving my dog top-tier care (probably confirmation bias because the exterior is cute ) He gets persistent allergy rashes and yeast infections, and I dole out about $200 each time to get it addressed at Paz. Here's where the problem lies: sure, they dote over him because he's terribly cute and tiny (he's a potato-shaped chihuahua), but they act so fearful of him, which, in turn, makes him anxious. It's gotten to the point where they've prescribed trazodone and gabapentin for a regular visit. And that's fine! Lots of dogs need some anxiety medication before a vet visit. But I've never seen him so traumatized on a consistent basis. A week ago, I brought him in to get a yeast infection in his ear looked at. They made me muzzle him and just stood there watching (as they're apt to do! Stand there watching as if they're not TRAINED to handle dogs) and swept him to the back room to do God knows what with his ear. After spending another $200, I took him home and he stopped eating and moving. He whimpered at the lightest touch. Turns out he had a neck injury after his Paz visit. If it weren't for the fearful, incompetent vet techs, I don't think my dog would be suffering as much. I took him to the emergency vet (Pet Specialists of Austin, highly recommend) last weekend because Paz's emergency line was conveniently not functional, and I was absolutely shocked at the care and compassion they showed. You'd think that the emergency vet would be cursory and rushed, but I've never seen someone care for my dog as much. Such a direct contrast from the fools at Paz. NO forceful muzzling, no manhandling, just gentleness. Stop wasting your money and find a new vet that won't charge you out the a** for subpar care and aromatherapy. read more

I took my dog to PAZ after having an unsatisfactory visit with a different veterinary. PAZ's trendy decor makes you feel like you are not at the vet. I took my dog in for skin issues he was having. I was attended promptly by our vet tech, Tony, who was very sweet and attentive. Dr. Pullen attended my dog and was a rockstar with him. He listened to all my concerns and took them seriously. Dr. Pullen sat on the floor with my pup and made him feel right at home. My dog is very fearful of unfamiliar places/people so I was taken by surprise by how calm he was throughout the entire visit. Tony even gave him a yummy treat! Everything was explained throughly from diagnosis to medications. I was informed of proper care for my dog as he ages, but wasn't pressured into tests etc. Overall, you are paying for quality care. They will listen, and they will help! read more

They have separate waiting areas for cats and dogs which I appreciate since my cat wails when he is nervous. The exam room was also warm and inviting. It was right next to the cat waiting area so it was super convenient for my nervous nelly. Once in the room the vet and the vet tech were super friendly and patient with us. The vet sat on the floor with my cat and my cat eventually became comfortable with him which never happens with strangers! We managed to get an appointment for our limping pup with 10 minutes notice and arrived a little bit late but never felt like our appointment was rushed. Everybody was kind and helpful, our technician Rachel even carried our 85lb dog inside because he was nervous! Dr. Pullen talked us through everything that he was looking for clearly and recommended what was best for our boy, not for their cash register. I love Paz vet. The vets are super nice and helpful. Appointments always run on time. The building is lovely with cool vintage furnishings. They offer you cold brew or beer when you come in. They are super gentle with my dog. BUT, it's very expensive compared to other vets. If you are worried about money, call around and do your research first. For example, they quoted me $1,200-$1,600 for a canine dental cleaning (for an 11-pound dog) at Paz. Quick poll of my friends with dogs found they are paying anywhere from $500-$900 for a cleaning. An extra $100 might be worth it, but double the cost? I just took my baby in because he was shaking his head constantly, and I paid over $200 for a vet consultation, an ear swab and some medicine. I do love it there, they take great care of my fur baby, and if money was no object, I would absolutely continue going. But as a retiree living on a fixed income, sadly I can't afford it. If you do decide to go to Paz, one suggestion for saving money is to request that all your pet's prescriptions are sent to H‑E‑B. Much cheaper. read more

Customer service is non-existent, no refunds for prescribing unnecessary medications, or vets showing up 20-30 minutes late. Myself and my pup absolutely LOVE the doctors and receptionists at Paz Veterinary North. I have an anxious pup who doesn't like going to the doctor, but every time we come here she feels welcomed and so much less anxious than she normally would at a different vet. My dog has been treated for an infected nail bed, dreaded tapeworms, and a limp. Each and every time she comes out with a solution that has helped her heal quickly and painlessly (keep in mind all 3 of these visits happened unexpectedly during quarantine 2020). I will never take my dog or any future animal I may have to any other place. If 2020 wasn't the worse by itself, having multiple health problems with my old grandpa child baby didn't help at all. This vet clinic is really nice and friendly. I like all of the vet technicians. The receptionist is so nice and friendly on the phone. I appreciate the effort they put in to make things as easy and safe as they can. Dr. Julien explains his diagnosis and treatment plan thoroughly. He even called me with an update on my dogs lab work for chronic skin allergies and infection quickly and was ready with price breakdown of everything. I think it's above and beyond the doctor sending me an email with prescription managements and link to online pharmacy so I don't have to make several trips. This place is more expensive than others and I feel initially under medicated/treated when concern was brought up. I understand it's probably preferred to not be aggressive with allergies and skin infections. I'm not the doctor and do not have an expertise in animals. I do think a more aggressive treatment plan would have been the way to go. I would still recommend this place though because the effort to communicate is genuine and it's a caring practice. read more

This is the best vet I've ever been to. My dog gets VERY anxious and aggressive when he goes to the vet. The staff there were great and really tried to make him feel comfortable. At one point, the vet got on the ground and played with my dog while he examined him so my dog didn't even know what was happening. They took a lot of time to explain what was going on with my dog and what the next steps would be. I HIGHLY recommend! read more
