Walk in , Easy check in .spewk to a person and get a room and wait and then speak to assistant again and wait til doc comes. Mat is dirty from previous visits, scale is dirty from previous visit. Cold ac room , had to get a blanket for my pet . Jacket for myself. Waiting to be seen after 20 min inside room . They ask for you to lift the pet to the dirty scale and they ask to hold your pet so they touch the ear with temp . The doctor came in and checked her out and tried to give her some food and she didn't respond to her because she's having a allergy problem. She came up with a plan for different medication. Glad doc . Female lady was nice and calm and she had gloves on . Waiting on meds for my pet and we will be getting checked . Spoke to the doctor and after 30 minutes of waiting, he came in for a treatment plan went over on the tablet of the medication and what the plan will be in person. The assistant left and I'm still waiting for the medication. It's been 2 hours visit so far more waiting then anything. The exam took 4 min . A assistant told me they have to take the pet back for the meds but I want know why can't be done inside the exam room . The assistant took my pet back and said will take about 5 min .for the treatment so will see how long they take . So far it's been 5 min and I haven't seen my pet yet. So took 6 min and got my pet back . I made a payment checked out got the instructions how to use the medication's and they said they will email me a receipt for today's visit and we're all good to go after that. they said that the next day they'll call me which it was going to be Sunday and all they did is send the email out making visible a survey not a phone call back and not checking on the patient which is a cat so I don't think you should tell people that you're gonna call when you never have made the effort to call and check on the patient animals. So I took the survey that was emailed to me.

Sophie is the black dog and this was taken three days after she went to Urgent Vet rolling around in the grass being her happy little self.

Why would you let me check in for emergency at 3:48 just to not have a doctor on site?!?!? Absolutely pointless!

Connor, the vet tech, followed suit, and was really great. What really stood out is that we got in quickly and we were given a balanced approach to treatment. Dr. Rob walked me through his treatment rationale. We had a real discussion about the best course of treatment instead of the typical take-it-or-leave-it approach you get at most facilities. It's hard to find vets who collaborate with you as a member of the treatment team instead of copy-pasting a protocol and sending you on your way. The pricing was fair as well. I really appreciated the care and attention we got. Been to a lot of vets, this one stood out.

Unlike some of our experiences with other veterinarians in Austin, we never feel rushed. We truly appreciate the care and attention he gives to both us and our cat Reishi. Dr. Rob performed oral surgery to remove several of Reishi's teeth. It was the first major surgery we had experienced with her. He was extremely patient with our questions, took wonderful care of her, and guided us through the entire process. Reishi healed very quickly and had no postoperative complications, which we were especially grateful for after hearing about friends whose pets experienced infections and other issues following similar procedures elsewhere. Recently, Reishi had a cancer scare after an alarming initial assessment at an emergency vet. We were quite stressed. When we brought her to see Dr. Rob, he first acknowledged what we had been through and made us feel heard and cared for before discussing the next steps. He even emailed us with test results and next steps while he was on a family vacation, which showed us how deeply he cares about his patients. Fortunately, further testing showed that Reishi did not have cancer. Going through such a stressful experience felt much more manageable knowing that Reishi was under Dr. Rob's care. He is compassionate, patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in both his patients and their families. Unfortunately, we are moving out of state and will have to find a new veterinarian. We truly hope we can find a clinic as wonderful as ATX Animal Clinic. It is the best veterinary clinic we have ever had, and we are incredibly grateful to Dr. Rob and the entire team.

My cat was recently diagnosed (at a different vet) with a somewhat rare parasite (Tritrichomonas),…read moreand I was having a hard time finding a vet I felt confident in. My usual vet, who we have been seeing since adopting the cat almost 2 years ago, rudely dismissed my concerns over the phone and insisted that I needed to pay an $80 office visit fee just to get an answer to my question over the phone (the question was "What does the PCR panel test for?"). I started calling every other vet in Austin to find a clinic that has experience with Tritrichomonas and that I felt comfortable with. Several clinics admitted that they did not know what the parasite was or had never treated it before. Another lied and said "oh, that is super easy to treat and really common and straightforward!" which I knew was not accurate from the empirical literature online. I finally found Austin Urban Vet and the experience we have had so far has genuinely been night and day different from pervious clinics. From the very first call, the AUV team was empathetic to our situation, VERY transparent about pricing (they provided it in writing), and explicitly clear about which PCR diagnostic panel they use at AUV and exactly what it tests for. They were open and honest about their experience with Tritrichomonas and I immediately felt at ease and confident in the care that they could provide my cat. After chatting with my partner about my findings from calling almost every vet in Austin, we both agreed Austin Urban Vet was the best one to move forward with, so we made an appointment. Right off the bat, I was happy to find that AUV has a private parking lot (for free!). I headed inside with my cat and the team at the front desk was so kind and helpful. They quickly checked me in and invited me to grab a bottle of water or make myself a cup of coffee as I waited for the tech to take us into the room. We waited for maybe ~5 minutes before the tech took us to the exam room, where she scanned my cat for her microchip, weighed her, and asked questions about the presenting problem, history, etc. Dr. Helen was who attended us for the exam itself, and she was so kind and thorough. I really felt that she was providing genuine feedback, and she was honest about her experience with this parasite. She was transparent about the treatment plan and let me know her general thoughts (Ie., "If she is still positive, we will do X. If she is negative, we can try Y.") We are now waiting for the PCR results, but so far, I am so happy with our experience and feel confident that Dr. Helen will provide us with the best care possible.

SOUTH PARK ANIMAL HOSPITAL is now owned by a VENTURE CAPITAL FIRM called National Veterinary Associates, which in turn is owned by JAB Holding company, JAB has tripled in size since it started buying up vets and charging confiscatory prices, taking advantage of our love of our pets. I gave them two stars because at least they did my cat right and he's fine now. BUT they started burying me in pitch emails too, trying to feed fear about my cat's health, constantly trawling me for more money, more money, more money, all while pretending to care about my cat when they don't. If the people at South Park Animal Hospital really loved animals as much as they love MONEY, they wouldn't have sold out. But they did. I will never go back and suggest you don't start.
