One of the big reasons that made me choose Allandale Vet Clinic and what has led to me choosing to stay with them is how quick and attentive they are when you've got an appointment. I was particularly bent out of shape having to wait 45 minutes to be seen a different nearby vet clinic - especially given that one of my cats gets particularly stressed out seeing dogs. Your mileage may vary, but I've not had to wait more than 10 minutes to be seen for my pets' appointments. The waiting room is reasonably sized, staff and vets have all been very friendly and accommodating, and everyone seems to be devoted to trying to make sure my pets are as comfortable as possible. I really appreciate this clinic and I'm glad to know I can rely on them to make sure my pets are comfy and healthy. read more

I cannot recommend Allandale vet clinic enough. Dr. Mohammed is the absolute best. She is brilliant, thoughtful, takes her time, and will give you the "real talk" on how to best care for your pets. Was recommended this spot from a FB group. The staff is so helpful and always picks up the phone. They were able to squeeze my pup in when he was having tummy issues and helped get him sorted out. The parking can be a little tight, but totally worth it. New patient paperwork is super easy to fill out and you can tell they always want the best for you and your pup. Inside the clinic they have a waiting room with treats for your animals. There's also grass outside near the street for your pup to go to the bathroom. read more

Yesterday, I discovered that from when my car was stolen a few weeks ago from my LOCKED garage (they also broke into my home, but that's a whole other long story and it's behind me), the perpetrators DID actually access my Social Security number and opened up a couple of lines of credit under my Social Security number. Nightmare. my vital records were in the car, which is not normally the case. They were only in there, because I was running an errand for my Dad's estate. My Dad, who had recently passed away from very aggressive cancer. So I hope this paints the picture of how unfortunate the last few months have been for me. It happens. It's life. I was trying to establish a new relationship with this clinic because I have a new cat, after I put my other cat down of 15 years, not too long at all after my Dad died. Why am I saying this and, what does this have *anything* to do with this vet clinic? Because I was right in the middle of a phone call with the detective assigned to my case, when I was supposed to have my vet appointment yesterday. So yes, I completely forgot about the appointment as I was dealing with other very important things. I was dealing with a crisis, trying to make sure my credit was frozen (which I had already done), talk to the police, and more. When someone misses an appointment, don't fucking assume that they woke up that day, and said to themselves, "I wonder how I can miss an appointment and be flaky!!!" When this vet clinic called me, the first words out of their mouth were to inform me that I missed the appointment and that their policy is to 'collect a deposit from me' from now on. I'm not upset about the policy. I'm upset and offended that they didn't check to see if everything was OK, or even go in with that angle or inquiry. Instead, The first thing they did, was assume that I missed the appointment because I was being inconsiderate. How. Fucking. Dare. You. This is why I'm writing this one star review. And if the business writes back to contradict me or say something else? I could fucking care less. I'm not going there as it is anyway, so I'm saying my piece and that's it. When someone misses an appointment? Ask if they're doing OK. Or express concern. Or do anything of that variety. Do not fucking assume that they are missing the appointment because they just didn't bother to call. And by the way? You are well aware that when you called me, I clicked over from the other line, on the phone with the detective, (and if you don't know, they are very hard to get a hold of) and I offered to fucking drive down there right on the spot. so let's not look over that, shall we? I apologized as well, and instead of listening to my apology, you went right into "well that's fine. But you missed your appointment." Did you really need to remind me again? Go fuck yourselves. This was already on top of my calling them several weeks ago to ask them, "if I ever have a concern about my cat and it's between appointments, am I able to call and ask first?" And the vet clinic said "yes, but that would still be a $60 charge." This practice is passive aggressive, COLD, and cares more about their money. Imma just gonna stick with my current practice. The only reason I was shopping around in the first place was to see if I could find a place that was a bit more reasonably priced. Other than that, I actually (ironically) adore my current vet. I think they're great. They are worth the slightly higher cost, I know now. read more

I wish I could give this place 10 stars. I have taken my cat to Allandale for her past two physicals and rabies shots. I was happy to find this place. They are knowledgable, gracious, and helpful. I should have written them a 5-star review a couple years ago when I started going there. Or, maybe it was a year and half. I'm not sure. The pandemic has ruined my sense of time:-) This review is for what they did for me and Zoya (my cat) today. Zoya was having a pretty harsh GI problem that started last night and lasted through this morning. I took her to Austin Vet Emergency and Specialty (AVES). They turned me away without giving me any medicine to settle her stomach. Nothing. It was a really unhelpful, unpleasant experience. I called my vet and begged for a same-day appointment. They were able to see me and it made a world of difference. Zoya and I were lucky enough to be helped by Dr. Mohammed. I don't remember the name of the technician who also helped (I'm so sorry I don't remember because she was also so gracious and knowledgeable). They allowed me in the room while they examined Zoya. They answered all my questions and gave me great advice along with meds to settle her stomach. Zoya is not 100% out of woods yet but she's hydrated and so much better than she was last night or this morning thanks to Allandale. If you are looking for a new vet, you should absolutely choose Allandale! read more

Officially the most kind and caring vet clinic I've been to. They love my fur babies like their own. The vets always call and report test results and they are quite timely. The vets don't guilt you into testing for super in depth things if you're on a budget. They removed a fatty tumor off one of our babies and the vet called a couple times checking in on her. I love these people. They are kind, thoughtful, good listeners, up on the latest research, and take the time. We are, as clients, more than a little high maintenance, and they never dismiss our concerns. Also, I have to say that the negative reviews are unhinged. A person has to pay for tests to see if a dog is pregnant. Responsible medical professionals (including vets) are ethically required to tell clients/patients the range of situations, which might include death. If you are a reasonable person, then, whether you're dealing with your doctor or your dog's doctor, you should hear the range of possible diagnoses. I don't think it matters if the doctor is a doctor of philosophy, law, veterinary medicine, medicine, or education. A responsible doctor tells a client/student/patient the worst-case, yet possible, scenario (you might fail this class, lose this case, have cancer, etc.). That someone hears a "here's what might happen" as making them worry is not about the information; it's about the response. And, no, responding to negative reviews is not creep behavior. It's what a reasonable business owner does. read more

My dog Bob has enjoyed all three visits thus far to the Allandale Veterinary Clinic. Since his typing skills are a bit rusty, he asked if I might put in a good word for him...so here goes nothing! After a couple of wellness checks behind us and a visit for some mysterious skin bumps, Bob has decided that this is the vet for him. HE gets extra excited each time we pull up to the clinic and once inside, seems to feel right at home. The receptionists are always very friendly as are the vet techs and Vets. All three times we've been able to get an appointment the same day or a day later and each one started on-time. I recently moved from just across the street from their office way out to the Oak Hill area. And even though they're now 40 minutes away in traffic versus 1 minute, I still feel with the level of attention shown towards Bob Dog, their friendliness and openness to answer any question I might have, that we've found a good fit for our needs. It's not a "ruff" decision where I'll take Bob for any aliments or future wellness checkups, Allandale will forever be our vet! read more

Through the whole process they were attentive to my and my cats needs, gave updates throughout the process, and the doctor personally checked in with me to see how my cat was doing. Negligence. We recently brought home a rescue puppy and the vet failed to find worms in her stool. We noticed the worms immediately and I was disappointed that the vet had not seen this. They gave her a medication to take care of one kind of worm but did not treat her for tape worms. So we had to wait 10 days before we could administer the other medication to get rid of the tape worm. We took her back (I don't know why) when we noticed she was having difficulty jumping. The vet said she was fine. We went to get a second opinion and the new vet found she has hip dysplasia in both hips. The negligence at this clinic is obvious and I would advise against going here. read more

I took both my dogs here for a few years. I had great experiences, and was just so surprised the last time I brought my older dog in. They usually were so attentive but this time corners were cut and they were rushing. I won't get into all the details, but essentially things were missed when I brought my dog in for his annual check up (they did not do a thorough exam). When I called and let them know it was missed, they were dismissive and didn't seem to care. I brought my dog to a different vet within a few weeks time period for second checkup and the new vet has since worked to resolve the issue. I just expect a little more attention to detail and empathy as a paying customer. I don't bring my dog to annual checkups for fun, it's to make sure they're healthy. read more

After a couple of decades of only having older, large-breed dogs, I've started a new journey with a tiny little puppy. So before I even picked him up, I set out to find a good vet. I first called a vet I'd used before, and they were abysmally unhelpful, and then I found Allandale Veterinary Clinic. The staff at Allandale was incredibly helpful over the phone. They told me what vaccinations the vets normally recommend, gave me pricing info up-front, and scheduled Walter's first appointment. When we arrived for our first visit, they were moderately busy, and I saw staff walking customers out, visiting a pet patient in the lobby, and generally making it look like like a happy, helpful place. And then they came out to greet my little guy. It was a wonderful feeling when Jessica, the vet tech, was so excited to meet my puppy. She said she'd been looking forward to Walter's appointment all week, and she quickly took him around the office to meet everyone. He was a little nervous being in a strange place with new people, but she was so gentle and attentive with him, and he warmed up pretty quickly. And Dr. Weisz was just incredible. I'd done lots of research on the breed and just puppies in general before picking up my pup, and Dr. Weisz was able to answer additional questions I had and gave me some good, practical advice regarding everything from food to training. I'm particularly grateful that they both suggested spacing out Walter's vaccinations a bit than I'd initially planned and also waiting to microchip when he's under anesthesia for neutering. Having only had gigantic dogs (who apparently didn't register pain) before, I didn't realize Walter would be sore after his shot, so I love that they were tuned into his comfort as well as his overall health. The bottom line is that I can't say enough to tell you how wonderful this place is. They treated Walter like he's the center of the universe -- which he is, as far as I'm concerned. They even provided all the prices when they emailed me his vaccination schedule, so I know exactly what to expect and how to budget. Needless to say, we've found Walter's vet for life. read more

We love Allandale Vet. As a first time puppy parent we were probably in here far more than we needed to be but they were overly accommodating and offered great advice. We have since moved farther away and will drive to continue to see them. Location is super convenient to the domain and mid Austin. They have ample parking and a ton of availability. Receptionists and vets are knowledgeable. They of course are always going to ask you to come in if anything is in question. I have been a client here for about 10 years, i don't have a problem with the health care my kitties received. I do however have a large problem with how they treat their human customers !!! i was late to an appointment by avina 10 minutes, and they said they will only schedule me for drop off appointments. That is extreme and ridiculous way to treat a years long customers who always pays promptly and in full, and has been really responsive to them. Catching cats is not alway a simple prospect. Pretty offended by their treatment and will loving to another vet after being a loyal client. read more

We can't say enough positive things about this vet so that's why they earned our 100th yelp review! We got a husky pup back in August and did our research on finding a great vet. Our fellow yelpers led us to Allandale vet clinic and while it may not be the closest or cost-friendly vet to us, we would not take our puppy and cat anywhere else. They are very professional and love what they do. Dr. Baker has been wonderful with Niya, always answering our questions and never rushing us. From initial puppy visits to puppy tummy problems and finally getting spayed, we have always gotten confirmation calls and post op follow ups. We find it a good sign when she is acting back to herself the night we pick her up. Our cat has been in once and he did great with Dr. Mohammed. I was impressed with how easily she completed her exam on a feisty cat who was hiding in the sink. I'm here because I was just raving to my neighbor searching for a new vet about Allandale and realized I have never put it in writing. I have an (almost) 9 year old cat and a 6 year old dog who only know Allandale as their vet, even though I have moved all around the city in the time I've had them. Everyone here is very kind and the doctors are very methodical and meticulous; I have never felt uncomfortable -- no problem or question is too small or too big. I had my pup for one year before her health suddenly declined overnight. I rushed her in to Allandale and they worked hard for weeks straight until she was 100%. Because of them, I have healthy, happy animals at home. They're compassionate and great communicators. Their location is easy to access, ample parking, and clean. I take my old man to Dr. Mohammed, she's absolutely wonderful.
