I had the smoked chicken and smoked turkey with green beans and cornbread. The green beans were okay, cornbread was wonderful. The meats were pretty good as well. A little bit dry, but more moist than most other places would serve. turkey was well seasoned, not quite as much for the chicken. However they came with several homemade bbq sauces and a side of gravy that tasted amazing. My favorite sauce was the carolina reaper, had a nice heat and smokey flavor. I did wish that the meats had a more smokey flavor or seasoning to them. It was on the subtle side. Our waitress was very attentive, I dont think my water ever went completely empty that night. Good flavor once I added some sauce, which was really needed to add moistness and another layer of flavor. Some of the pork on the tacos was a bit dried out. The corn pudding was moist and tasty. My friend had the platter with smoked turkey and sausage. I tried the turkey which was moist and delicious and my friend said the sausage was tasty. It was juicy and looked like it had cheese inside. The fried okra was crisp and delicious. The decor was simple and country, and vintage country music was playing. All in all, we would return sometime. Stumbled upon this tonight for dinner. Not very busy, but we came in late (8pm). Small interior, but cool, rustic atmosphere. Love the industrial, backwoods cabin feel of the joint. Food came quick and service was friendly. Pulled pork and the wings were delicious...but the Brussel sprouts might be one of the best things I've had in a while. They were bangin'!! Wow. This had to be one of the worst meals we've had in Surfside. The ribs were tough and undercooked. The brisket was extremely greasy, full of fat and shredded like pork. My husband and I were given a gift card to try this place and I'm so thankful that we were!! I'm not a huge meat eater but I ate everything on my plate - it was THAT good!! My husband also loved his turkey sandwich. The service was fantastic and my waitress confidently knew my gluten free options. I decided to have a biscuit w/ egg. When I asked the server if there were any veggies that could be added she had to go ask the kitchen staff. I got a biscuit ($5.95), scrambled egg (1.50), cheddar cheese ($1.95), and 3-small slices of avocado ($3.95!). The biscuit was inedible. When I tried to pick it up to eat as a sandwich it crumbled into a million little pieces. Over $13.00 for a breakfast sandwich that was uneaten. Husband got biscuits/gravy, that were too dry to eat, even smothered in sausage gravy. Ridiculously overpriced, disappointing breakfast ($40 for 2-people). We were hungry and no way the kids could wait. So my family said let's do the bbq place. The inside is small and it was so hot outside we sat in inside ( it was warm too) Looking at the menu there was nothing my picky grandkids would eat. I can't eat beef anymore so I got a chicken salad sandwich. Not an item you want to get in a barbecue place. My granddaughter got chicken and mac & cheese. My daughter got the two choices of meat plate. My son-in-law got a pulled pork sandwich. My sandwich was nothing special . I noticed the only one eating their food was my son-in-law. He had no problem with it. I ate half of my sandwich just because I was so hungry and my daughter said that her meat was so dry. I tasted it and I have to agree. My daughter was a waitress/manager at a barbecue place for years. She knows good barbecue. This just didn't work for our family. The place has good reviews and I'm sure other people love it. So you have to try it for yourself and see what you think. But, I definitely recommend not to get the chicken sandwich. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. Pork was ok--it's hard to mess up if you have a pulse. Sausage wasn't special--hit like a store bought type done on a grill, with no real smoke, heat, or flavor. Mac and cheese was meh, but I'm sure some will like it. Fried okra was decent, so no complaints there. Decent stop, the food passes, but you won't remember this joint after your vacation and you'll have no regrets if you skip it. There are better places in the area. read more
