Gracious Pig Smokehouse really satisfied my craving for BBQ! In fact, I ate there twice on my recent stay at Surfside Beach. There is seating inside and outside, too. All of my family members agreed that this restaurant is the tops! The first time I went, I had Meat & 2 sides-Turkey, Mac & Cheese and cornbread-so good! The second time I had Wings that were enormous & very tender, with Corn Bread & Mac and Cheese again. There are a few draft beers- I really liked the Airbtush Hazy IPA, as did a few of my family members. The Gracious Margarita wasn't bad either. Service was very friendly & efficient despite having a bunch of rowdy little kids in the group. The chef came out to check on us both times we came. Was pleasantly surprised to stumble across this old-timey themed bbq restaurant and bar! Lots of different options for fresh smoked barbecue! I had the smoked chicken and smoked turkey with green beans and cornbread. The green beans were okay, cornbread was wonderful. The meats were pretty good as well. A little bit dry, but more moist than most other places would serve. turkey was well seasoned, not quite as much for the chicken. However they came with several homemade bbq sauces and a side of gravy that tasted amazing. My favorite sauce was the carolina reaper, had a nice heat and smokey flavor. Great little spot with a parking lot in the back. Breakfast menu is simple with very good portions. Biscuits were big squares and had several house combinations or a build your own option. Good flavor once I added some sauce, which was really needed to add moistness and another layer of flavor. Some of the pork on the tacos was a bit dried out. The corn pudding was moist and tasty. My friend had the platter with smoked turkey and sausage. I tried the turkey which was moist and delicious and my friend said the sausage was tasty. It was juicy and looked like it had cheese inside. The fried okra was crisp and delicious. The decor was simple and country, and vintage country music was playing. All in all, we would return sometime. This restaurant has the absolute best barbecue in the Surfside/Myrtle Beach area. We had the smoked chicken and pork dish. It was so tender, tasty, moist and plentiful. Food came quick and service was friendly. Pulled pork and the wings were delicious...but the Brussel sprouts might be one of the best things I've had in a while. They were bangin'!! Wow I am shocked by the 4.4 rating. No way they are rating the BBQ. Sorry guys but if you are looking for great ribs this is not it. Now service was great, staff was pleasant and fast and everything you want good service to be. Now the real deal the food best thing was the appetizer, ordered the Brisket Egg Roll and it was a star can't go wrong BUT honestly should have stopped there. Had the half slab ribs and they were dry and overcooked and tasteless with out sauce. Tried all four sauces they had at table and middle of the road at best. (By the way I know Q). The kicking Greens were not seasoned and basically just collards boiled and bitter. Wow. This had to be one of the worst meals we've had in Surfside. The ribs were tough and undercooked. The brisket was extremely greasy, full of fat and shredded like pork. The inside is small and it was so hot outside we sat in inside ( it was warm too) Looking at the menu there was nothing my picky grandkids would eat. I can't eat beef anymore so I got a chicken salad sandwich. Not an item you want to get in a barbecue place. My granddaughter got chicken and mac & cheese. My daughter got the two choices of meat plate. My son-in-law got a pulled pork sandwich. My sandwich was nothing special . I noticed the only one eating their food was my son-in-law. He had no problem with it. I ate half of my sandwich just because I was so hungry and my daughter said that her meat was so dry. I tasted it and I have to agree. My daughter was a waitress/manager at a barbecue place for years. She knows good barbecue. This just didn't work for our family. The place has good reviews and I'm sure other people love it. So you have to try it for yourself and see what you think. But, I definitely recommend not to get the chicken sandwich. Our waitress was very nice and attentive.
