I love exploring markets. I walked into this one and was thoroughly surprised by the small but mighty and compact hot and salad bar. The kale salad with berries is amazing. I also added some turkey to it and made an amazing lunch. I crave this for the rest of my trip. However, I did stop into another gracefully and they didn't have the salad available on Sunday. My middle school allowed the students to eat out for lunch and that was the first time I was introduced to this type of Asian grocery store. You can do groceries and/or get a quickly prepared meal here from cooked ramen to sandwiches to salads to a hot bar station where you can scoop a variety of popular Asian food in a plastic container. It seemed like a dream to me back then. It is way less cool as an adult when you can see how pricey everything truly is for the quality of food you're getting. After getting done with business locally, I came here to get some lunch before heading home. This is actually a small shop and deli, although I originally had the impression that it was a restaurant (from what the folks at the VA told me). I walked in, and made my way to the back of the store, where the deli sits. I perused their many options, and decided to get the chicken pesto panini. While the cook was busy prepping my food, I checked out the rest of the store. I got some chocolate and a bottle of water as well. After paying, I went to a counter to eat my food. There is limited space on the counter, but the place was not crowded at the time. The sandwich was amazing! And the chocolate rounded out my meal well. I work across the street and this is sort of a go to. Their food is great and excellent quality. I usually get soup or oatmeal (both always great) but I love their salads too and and their hot bar/salad bar always has a great variety of fresh things that change every day. The prices are three to four times higher than anything in the city. Gracefully is an upscale bodega/deli meant to service the community but all its doing is ripping it off. As a mother I occasionally find my self in a bind to grab some quick ingredients for a school lunch or to get some prune juice for an achy belly, etc. so I end up there albeit infrequently. The thing is that I know their prices are high and I try to prepare myself for it but i always walk away offended not by the people, the atmosphere or the food. Just by the staggering all of setting a small jar of prune juice at the price of $14. A carton of milk for $11. The cheapest apple is $5/lb. Don't tell me the quality is better either. The products are exactly the same as anywhere else like the Morton Williams down the street. Look, store bought sushi is VERY different from ordering at a restaurant. Just like fresh vs frozen pizza, it's in its own category. I've had Whole Foods, wegmans, shop rite store sushi. If the grocery store has sushi, I've had it. And wow, I would totally double dip if I'm in a pinch and get Gracefully's sushi again. It actually tastes like fish. It's not frozen/icy, doesn't look discolored and didn't have an odor to it. The rice was solid, a little on the sweet side. I come here for their oatmeal at least 2 times per week in the winter season. Their oatmeal is so creamy and milky. love how their oatmeal is very thick and Gracefully have the best oatmeal!! I always put some raisins and cinnamon on top of it to give the extra sweetness to it. You don't even need extra sugar. I also tried their chocolate croissants one time. It was decent. I had better croissants in Manhattan. Besides breakfast food, I also tired their sushi. There's a sushi bar they make on the spot. It was decent and the price is relatively low. It's about $8-$10 depends on which one you want. They also have salad and sandwich section as well. That I have yet to try. Gracefully also have produces and a good selections of beverages, cakes, dairy products and snacks from all over the world. Just keep in mind the prices are not the cheapest. read more

I live in PCV, so having this little supermarket right around the corner is super convenient..especially on lazy days when I can't get my butt over to Morton Williams, let alone Trader Joes. Although fresh and well kept, the produce is ridiculously expensive, so I usually only buy here if I'm missing one or two ingredients. For a few things, like the green onion and ginger, cost is on par with other grocery stores. Otherwise, I keep my purchases here to a minimum (ie. I usually come by if I'm craving a snack or if I'm picking up ready-to-go food on the way home). Most - if not all - Gracefully products are on the healthy end of the spectrum (GMO free, organic, soy, etc. etc. etc.), which I appreciate, but the fact that it costs an arm and a leg really turns me away. As for the prepared foods, I've only grabbed sushi rolls and a poke bowl from the deli area, but after reading some of the reviews, I'll definitely be stopping by for a sandwich or something else soon! The sushi rolls and the poke bowl were reasonably and competitively priced, although the poke bowl wasn't as fresh as I would have liked/expected. I don't find the cashiers particularly friendly, and after seeing their 'SHOPLIFTER SHOPLIFTER' (with screenshots of said shoplifter) signs in the windows, I get super paranoid every time I shop here. The excessive number of cameras placed at every angle in the store and monitored by the cashiers don't help that paranoia. It's a bit excessive to have two Gracefullys less than 10 streets down from each other, but I guess I can't complain about the convenience! read more

Close to work, and that's the only reason why I've gone so many times. Some of the pros is that the service is quick and friendly, and you're usually in and out pretty fast. They also keep the store really clean and presentable. Plus, there is a vast selection of ethnic foods and spices. Cons- the hot/prepared foods are subpar and expensive. Expect to pay an arm and a leg on a sandwich or a small container of bland lukewarm food. Why is it so expensive?! The same "hot" foods rotate once or twice a week, and it's so bland and unseasoned, especially the salmon and fried rice. Reminds me of hospital food. Very convenient for anyone that works at NYU Dental, Bellevue, or the VA. It's really one of the only places you can get some good food in that area. The lines are crazy at lunch time for that reason, but man, those ladies will run thru that line in no time. That place is run like a well oiled machine. Everyone there is nice, and if they seem short with you, it's very likely just because they're trying to be time efficient for everyone knowing that ppl have places to be and food to eat. I also had a small issue w a product purchased prior and the manager was very nice about handling it. Lots to choose from as far as food goes. Salad bar, hot bar that changes food every so often, baked goods, sandwiches/wraps, sushi, noodle bar, and lots of specialty grocery items. It would be hard not to find something you like here. I've been here so many times that I think I've been able to try things from each section, and they never disappoint. The udon is especially amazing bc you can customize the $^!+ out of it. I used to think it was a little pricey, but honestly, for what it is, I don't mind the price anymore (I've also grown more accustomed to NYC prices at this point, so the prices are honestly prob not much different than another place that is of lesser quality anyways). I live a block away from here so it's become a go-to place for me when it comes to picking up lunch or dinner. They have a ton of Asian products as well so it really saves time for those who go to Chinatown to get your snack cravings. The cashiers are all really sweet along with the people who work at the noodle/sushi bar. They're all really accommodating, even when it gets super busy. However, my main complaint is how rude one of the people who work at the sandwich counter are. Firstly, sometimes they never ask if you want your bread toasted-- and the one time I asked for it to be, the person snarled and rolled his eye at me. I can see him tossing the bread aside. And when the sandwich was done he tossed it at the counter for me to take. I made the mistake of not calling the manager over to note it to him. Even so, I've encountered his attitude at least 5 times and ever since then I've chosen to get my sandwiches else where all because I didn't want to have to put up with up his attitude. [its only one specific person] In regards to their groceries-- they are significantly more expensive than most places. Don't underestimate the food bar! Beware!!!!! Check out your receipt before you leave the register. I was overcharged on my credit card. This purchase was for someone else and when I tendered the receipt to him he said there were charges on there that he did not ask me to buy. Sure enough there was $6.26 additional charge for other items. Don't know how that could have happened. There was no one on the line if front of me at 9:33 am on a Tuesday morning. When I returned, the cashier immediately admitted it was her but got annoyed because I was asking for an accurate breakdown of the receipt for my friend. This mini mart is awesome. Very convenient and pretty good hot prepared food as well as non-prepared foods. Great selection. It is always clean and organized as well. The staff are also super friendly. I only gave it 3 stars because, they used to have the noodle soup bar right by where you get the sushi, and it used to be so good. I would either get a beef udon freshly made or Soon Doo Boo and it used to be so tasty and delicious. Just went there today, there's a new chef, new set up and don't like it as much. The taste of the soup base and ingredients have changed. Oh well! If not for the change in the noodle soup station, this place would have received 4 stars. When I mention to co-workers the unfortunate rude cashier (older lady) experience that I am subjected to every morning at this establishment they often wonder why i even bother? I really enjoy the food at gracefully. It's obvious everything is made with quality ingredients and I think the prices are pretty good. When I want a good hearty sandwich I come to gracefully. You could go to subway and get a 6 dollar flat sandwich with old vegetables or you can come to Gracefully and for 2 more dollars have a meal you will actually enjoy! It's also a little market inside. I recently purchased a small piece of smoked Gouda and it's become my favorite so I'll be back soon to buy more! read more

The guys behind the counter are rude, and what is annoying is when they ask you what you want but they can't hear u because all 3 workers are asking everyone else what they want across from each other. I would never visit this place again. For the past two weeks I have been going here and noticed that when I payed for things the price always seemed to be higher. Today I questioned them since the item price was one thing and when it was rung up it was more. I showed them the sign with the price and they said that's for a different item. It was for the exact item I purchased. The manager told me I was wrong. Then the cashier said as she walked by that we were very annoying. It was only 50 cents more. I told her exactly so charge me the right price. Again she said loudly you are annoying. In an area where there isn't much food to grab, gracefully is a great find. This is your typical deli with sandwiches, soups, cold and hot buffet. They also have sushi, udon and more. Everything is usually very fresh and nice tasting. A bit more expensive than the average Bodega, but I don't think this place is average. They care about a quality product, and support smaller natural brands. You won't find a lot of the big corporation brands. Forget about the groceries (they're mad expensive)...the food to-go is where it's at! I've gotten the hot food, sandwiches, and salads and everything is amazing. Really delicious food that's always fresh and never too greasy! The max I've paid for a meal here is $8, which is pretty comparable to other NYC eateries for salad and nice sandwiches.
