Every time I travel, I always try and back my per diem and find a local grocery store to get some lunch items or dinner items and this is within a block and a half of the hotel and it is a really nice little grocery store that offer everything imaginable. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly and for being downtown New York City on 37th St. between the Homewood suites and the convention center. The prices are good I thought. They have a deli with fresh meat and cheese. They have freshly prepared food. You can take back to your hotel and throw it in a microwave and they make all sandwiches and breakfast sandwiches. The store is extremely organized very very clean and by the way they offer fresh fruit and produce . I am so glad I found this place as it will save me money here in New York City while I work . If you're in the area, I highly recommend stopping in here. You can't go wrong and you will enjoy walking around and shopping. read more

Came by for groceries the other day and was surprised at the variety and size of the grocery store, despite a rather small storefront. Brooklyn Fare is located on 37th between 9th and & 10th towards 10th. Despite having a good selection of fruits, some of their black grapes weren't super fresh. The Greenwich street Brooklyn Fare store in the West Village let's people walk dogs inside the store.Please stop dogs from coming in the store. Was nearly attacked by two dogs fighting in the store. I had a small baby in a baby carriage and two dogs were barking and nearly attacked me as I screamed from getting startled. Further the outside of the store stinks from dog urine and is kept unclean. Please stop the dogs from coming in the store. It is horrible to do grocery shopping with dogs untrained in the store and going around spreading germs on everything. For those of you providing less than a five star review, you might want to look in the mirror, the problem is probably right in front of you! Considering this is in one of the most populated cities in the world, and to have such a variety and quality of pretty much everything you could possibly want, is amazing. Be thankful! Absolutely horrific experience ordering from here on Uber Eats. Every single produce item was 3-5x the advertised price at checkout, and of course the store won't issue a refund or do anything. For example, a single green pepper was advertised at $1.00. Price on my receipt? $3.99. A single red onion was listed at $1.07. Final price? $4.98. A single sweet onion advertised at $0.66 magically turned into $4.18. I don't know what they were "weighing" but it wasn't my produce. This is false advertising at best, outright theft at worst. I understand a price adjustment here and there, but a bill that's 5x what you expected is immoral and unjust. read more

Definitely recommend this quaint supermarket! Of course some of the prices are understandably through the roof. BUT at the time of this writing, inflation is causing everything to skyrocket and this market has basics like pasta, veggies and breads for about the same as they'd cost at a lower-end market. They have some unique finds in their fresh/ready made foods section and I love their potato salad packaged in the deli section. My recommendation is to avoid the fancy stuff unless it's a rare find - as their fresh meat section has a lot of pricey goods. read more

Produce-wise, it's rough moving from San Francisco to NYC. There's the Union Sq farmers' market but I'm not a fan of Whole Foods (Just say NO! to Bezos) and other NYC supermarkets have not floated my boat. Today was my first visit to Brooklyn Fare on 37th -- which DID float my boat. The produce here was fantastic. California-worthy bell peppers and cukes and salad greens. A pint of perfect raspberries for $2. (Two bucks! That's half the cost of Whole Foods!) Plus I loved their selections of spices and sauces for cooking. I was so overwhelmed (and overloaded with produce) that after checking out I left my wallet on the counter. The wonderful checkout clerk came racing after me half a block to return my wallet. I had a very unpleasant experiences with the employees working at the cash register. I was picking up a too good to go order and the food was great value but the rude experience is enough for me not to return here as a shopper. There was a misunderstanding regarding when to swipe on the app to collect the order (caveat that the difference is a couple seconds and different stores have different preferences). The cashier was extremely rude and condescending to the point of not giving me my order and was rude not only to me but to the employee working at the bakery section who was the one who was packing the goods - refused to give him a bag so he could pack our order. Says a lot when you're not only rude to customers but your other coworkers, clearly management doesn't care to train their employees on basic customer service. read more

YUM! Stopped by to get lunch for the first time here instead of just groceries. I got the veggie plate lunch special which allows you to pick 3 vegetable deli items. There were so many choices but I went with the roasted cauliflower, chickpeas, and mushroom. Everything was absolutely delicious and I'll definitely be back to get the veggie plate. Next time, I'd love to try the sweet potato, edamame salad, wild forbidden rice, and the pesto pasta. I just love all the things I tried today. I went in around 1:30pm and there wasn't a long line and the man behind the deli was amazing. So kind and we talked while he heated up my food for me. If you want Cheerios, cage-free organic eggs, mustard from some odd French brand, fresh-baked bread, and Bounty paper towels, Brooklyn Fare has got you covered. I have not been so harshly approached and shouted at for a very long time. I did not expect it at all from my neighborhood supermarket that I frequent literally every other day. I came in quickly with my service dog for a few things, as I do often. My dog had an accident in the check out line. Mortified and shocked, I asked for cleaning supplies from staff and cleaned it up myself before checking out. Once I crossed the street just outside the store, a male employee began shouting at me to come back. I turned back around to return assuming I needed to explain further and apologize. Yet, I needed to cross back over the street and there were cars coming. The employee irately insisted I cross the street that moment while cars were whizzing by. I tried to explain that I am coming and kept checking to cross the street and the man continued to berate and harass me that I must cross at that instant and risk myself while there was moving traffic. He did not stop screaming at me until we re-entered the store. I apologized again and again and pointed to where it had happened and how showed that I had cleaned it. Only then, in front of other customers and staff did he finally let me go saying next time please hold the dog. I agreed and left. So scary and insulting. He's not a staff member I recognize from my regular visits. Maybe he works for the restaurant in the back. Who knows. All I know is it was highly unnecessary to speak so harshly and wildly at a young woman with a small dog. I did not harm anyone, I took full responsibility for the mess made and I am a regular customer whom other staff members recognize and could vouch for. He must have had something up his butt and decided to take it out on me. So unprofessional! read more

When invariable price discrepancies arise the cashiers tersely blame the customer, experience onset stupidity, and drag out price corrections. The food is pretty good but overcharging someone is making a jerk out of someone -- that tells you that they are assuming the customer is either ignorant, and/or dumb Please note this happened with three different people so check what you buy that is weighed-- despicable people. This was my first visit to this store.... I do not live in NY...my friends do. when i come to NY i stay with some friends in Hells Kitchen...and this is one of the places they shop. On a previous visit they purchased the groceries here for a birthday dinner celebration. *noted.. on this visit...not only did I stay with them ...but I brought the husband and kids along (lovely for a childless couple in NY)...we came with air mattresses and pillows and sleeping bags and overtook their office and family room for a few days. As a thank you we decided to cook a fabulous dinner on our last night. I remembered that they had bought steaks here before so hubby and set off on the walk to Brooklyn Fare. We found everything we needed to make dinner here (no wine though).....but there is a nice wine shop just around the corner (North West) we had bone in Ribeye steaks, roast of winter veggies (parsnips, carrots, potatoes and red beets) so damn yum! the veggies were fresh and super flavorful. so yes..high quality products here! Bring your bags with you ...grocery shopping in NY is quite different since you need to walk home with everything! Now i know why they get a lot of grocery delivery. oh...brooklyn fare also has a nice cheese department and prepared food. This section of Manhattan is odd. Parts of it look like abandoned sets in a post-apocalyptic film. Other sections look like upscale bits of Manhattan were inserted like a Jenga piece into the neighborhood. The section Brooklyn Fare occupies falls into the latter category. The market has a nice modern design heavily focused on dark wood and medium to bright lighting. There is definitely a desire to make this an upscale shopping experience (as food goes) without making people who just want a sandwich run away clutching their wallets. As I was heading towards New York Comic-Con, I wanted to grab my launch ahead of time so I swung into Brooklyn Fare to order a sandwich. I wound up getting one of my "go to" sandwiches: Boar's Head ham and Gruyere cheese on whole wheat with mayo, tomato and lettuce. It is a simple, yet wonderful sandwich I have enjoyed over the years (though sometimes Swiss takes the place of the Gruyere). At first, the guys behind the counter seemed more interested in yucking it up with each other than helping me, but suddenly an older gent kind of peeked around the counter and took my order. I am glad he did because he piled on the meat and made a fantastic sandwich. The bread was nice and soft, the lettuce and tomato were fresh and Boar's Head did it again with their super tasty ham. The cheese helped top it all off nicely. I'd head back to Brooklyn Fare for a sandwich for sure if I was in the area. I did not really explore the rest of the store so I cannot speak to it. SO glad I have Brooklyn fare opposite my apartment! Moved to the city recently and during pandemic. Though I am a big trader joes and whole foods fan, I am very much addicted to Brooklyn fare! They have all the good stuff and very well planned and arranged. I love their gourmet and the staff there! They make alternations to the food to make it much healthier. I have mixed feelings about this place. Pros: - An oasis of grocery items that is in Hudson Yard. I have little other options in the area. Convenient. - A good variety of produce, international items, high quality specialty items that can't be found elsewhere - Well-organized - Most personnel are friendly. Best encounter I had was with this one butcher that gave me great advice and encouragement on how to cook a great prime rib. Cons: - Overpriced. Can find many of the items for cheaper elsewhere, but like I said, I have few options in the area - I've found some expired items on the shelves, like ice cream... beware and check everything before you buy! - A stressful 24 hour return policy - I understand this with perishables but would appreciate slightly longer on new, unused non-perishables - Some rude encounters. Staff appears to be a mixed bag. For example, I asked someone where the blocks of Parmesan cheese were (after I looked for it in the cheese section already). Guy waved dismissively and didn't direct me at all. I looked some more. Asked guy again, who gave me major attitude then realized that it was not in the case but off to the side. I continue to go out of convenience and honestly, the produce prices aren't too bad. Wouldn't get non-food items here, though. I have never been to a market with such a diverse selection with the greatest respect for all the cultures represented. The ability to store as much as they do but not have it be overwhelming and easy to shop is the most insane thing I've ever seen. It took me a few times to figure out store's layout. I kept ending up at the entrance instead of exit. Love the selection of ready to drink bottled, boxed coffees. Brooklyn Fare is one of my favorite supermarkets in NYC. The staff is so friendly and helpful! In addition, the store is clean and well kept. I love that it is close to my apartment, but i would consider shopping here even if I have to walk a few extra blocks. I mostly only shop in the fresh foods department so I can't comment on the packaged stuff. The produce is always fresh and there is a good selection. In terms of price, it tends to be on par with Whole Foods. They have decent sales which change each week. I also shop in the butcher department. The meat can be a little pricey, but it's always good quality. I highly recommend this store! read more

My sister lives a stone's throw away from Brooklyn Fare, so when I'm visiting it's a great option to stop in for some snacks and specialty groceries. First off, it's much bigger than it seems when you first walk in. Yes, you pay a premium but it's got a phenomenal selection -- even access to Chef's Table (a 3 Michelin starred restaurant) through the back of the store! Oh, it's also got one hell of a bakery case for those of you (like me) with a sweet tooth. A nice addition to Hell's Kitchen & really convenient when I stay with family! read more

The store at West End & 63rd St. isn't clean, items on sale ring up at regular price 50% of the time and, if you express displeasure about this to a manager they tell you to get out of the store. I've seen them speak disrespectfully to older people as well. Either mgmt. doesn't train their employees in customer service or simply don't care that they're hostile. Given other reviews about incidents of customers being yelled at it's more likely the latter. There are much better markets around this area and they'll continue losing customers at this location unless something changes. read more

While things have progressed nicely at Brooklyn Fare with fresh food offerings that make the palate leap out in anticipation, there are two problem children managers who are anti-customer. And, no, I don't say this only from my perspective. I have witnessed Sharia and Julio chastise multiple customers who are regulars. If they don't like you, they do everything they can to make your experience less than stellar. Case in point for the experience I just had when Julio tried to physically engage me in the store in front of other customers. He began an argument because he was having a bad day and then threatened me. I refused to be a part of it and one of the deli workers had to hold Julio back. Not a good look for a family neighborhood store. That upsets me greatly because the owner, Moe, has worked so hard to make his store right for this neighborhood. And he's done a PHENOMENAL job. The deli and hot food bar are first rate, the pricing overall is better than anywhere in the neighborhood and the selection is fantastic. Again, the only hiccup are these two managers who suffer from egomaniacal tendencies...that is what happens when you give some folks too much power. read more

This is my local grocery store and I am very happy it. I usually only buy the things that are on weekly special, and they are a great deal. The normally priced goods can be a little pricy, but it is not a dealbreaker if you live near by. The layout of the store makes sense and is easy to navigate unless somebody tries to squeeze past you in the aisle. Brooklyn Fare is great and be sure to sign up for the loyalty program. read more

absolutely love this place. even though the aisles are narrow and it can feel cramped in certain areas, they've done an amazing job with the space. it's never crowded, and it's easy to weave your way through the store. fruits and vegetables are usually fresh, and you can find great deals and specials every week. they also have a great selection of local products - from craft beers, to sauces, produce, etc. maybe it's the nerd in me, but it's quite fun to browse the variety of local products they have in stock. they do rearrange the store from time to time, so it can throw you off sometimes. not a huge deal. it's pretty easy to adjust and pick up on where everything is again. as i'm writing this review, their cheese aisle is front and center right when you enter the store, so a warning (or you're welcome?) that you may get caught up in that area for bit longer than expected when you suddenly realize you need to do the rest of your grocery shopping. i've tried their prepared foods only a few times. it's not the best, but it's there for convenience sake, and I always see a lot of people ordering at their deli counter. lastly, i want to commend the staff! these are some of the hardest working people, pre-pandemic and throughout the pandemic. even during the thick of COVID, this team was grinding away, making sure everything was in stock and ensuring the safety of their patrons as best they could in the small space. really appreciate everything they've done not only in the past couple years i've come here, but especially during the pandemic. thank you, and keep it up! read more

Stopped by here when I was staying at a hotel in the area. The store was much larger than I thought it would be! Some items were pricey but others were average. They also have a good beer selection, a small wine selection, and tons of ice cream :) The produce area was large, with some specialty items. In addition to snacks and drinks, I had a grilled veggie wrap made fresh in the prepared food area and it was delightful. It was really healthy and I was super full for only $8. I recommend this store if you are nearby, particularly if you need only a few items. This is because it was crowded and rather claustrophobic as a result of packing so many good things in a small-ish space. For my purposes, it was perfect though! read more
