okay, so i've been here 4 times now so i thought i would give an update. i've been pretty lucky as far as getting there during non-peak hours (i usually go in the afternoon around 430ish and no matter what day i go, only one other customer in there). the wait time is non-existent to me, so much that sometime i can't even check-in on yelp because i'm being called in.
btw, i dont know how long they're doing this, but if you check-in on your yelp app, they give you a coupon for 10% off eyebrow threading. i thought it was a one time deal, but when i checked-in again during another visit i got the coupon again. and you're able to save it for another time if you're not ready to use it at the moment. so just fyi. again, dunno how long that's going on but that's a nice incentive for checking-in.
so my first visit was like, bliss. perfect eyebrows, no breakouts, i was happy. the second visit was eh. and i only say that because the girl who did my brows, while cleaning them up nicely, just managed to break most of the hairs rather that pulling it out completely. wtf, right? maybe she's new, whatever. my brows were clean and shaped nicely, i'll let it slide this visit knowing that if i had seen Bahna she would of done a much better job.
my third visit, omg i wanted to cry. again, a different girl working on me (i can't seem to go there when Bahna's there no matter what time i try to catch her). at first everything was ok. she did a great job and shaped my brows nicely. everything was clean. then she went to trim my hairs with scissors and that's where she effed up and butchered my left brow! she cut one of my hairs so short i dont think she realized she basically balded my brow! and then when she did realize it, she didn't bother to trim my right brow! i of course, was all in relaxation mode and trusting she knew what she was doing. and when she quickly showed me the mirror to check how it looked, i didn't notice it at first. it looked a bit unruly, but i thought if i brushed it out with an eyebrow brush it would all fall into place and look fine. i didn't realized she effed it up until i was washing my face that evening... i was so sad! and mad! at least i had bangs that swept over that side of my face to cover up it up until it grew out. and who knew how long that was gonna take. :(
after that i was ready to give up and go back to my previous threading spot. but for some reason i decided to give them one last try. only 2 weeks since my 3rd visit i went in again. since i was trying to grow everything out again i just let it go everywhere and the brows needed some grooming. i went in at my usual time and again, got a different girl. i explained to her what happened last time and how my brow looked all effed up because of what happened. from the look on her face after seeing the brow, i knew that i was butchered for sure. then she said, "don't worry, i'll fix it." and she did her magic. she showed me the mirror and hallelujah, i looked normal again! words cannot express how thankful i was to her for fixing my brow! srsly. she went onto to my right brow and then everything was perfect. she did a great job, no broken hairs, everything was clean, even, and balanced. i LOVE her.
i also had my lip done and she went so far as going below my lower lip and chin (i didn't even know i had hair there, tbh, lol). afterwards, she put aloe over the areas where she threaded and gave me the eyebrow and face massage that i've read in other reviews. it felt so nice and relaxing! i guess they only do that with aloe, as the other times i've been there i've only gotten witch hazel and no massage. i kinda felt bad because i was still wearing makeup from my workday and her hands were probably getting all dirty. i wasn't expected a massage so i didn't know it was going to happen. but next time i visit i'll go with a bare face.
her name is Zinah, btw. if you go there, see her (or Bahna).
All in all, still 4 stars. Yes, i would still come back despite my butchering because i found out that they do take appointments for threading (my old place doesn't do that, unfortunately)! so next time i go, i'm going to see Zinah and only Zinah! can't trust anyone else anymore. so what i HIGHLY RECOMMEND is, read the reviews here, find out who the good threaders are, and call for an appointment to see them. don't just walk-in and risk it. you might get butchered! lol, j/k. risk if you want. i'm done doing that. lol.
thank you, Zinah!! read more
