I had to grow my brows out for months because the last person I went to made them so thin. Sometimes the problem with going to bigger named places is you get a different person doing your brows almost every time (no matter how many times you request for the same person). I love that I know what to expect with Shanaz. She explains the process and takes her time. She's very precise! She offers other threading services too (such as upper lip). What a sweetheart ! After having a traumatic experience from a previous threading place, I was hesitant to try a new one. Low and behold, I discovered Shanaz (Thank you Yelp !) I had no clue her business was done at her home and when she informed me of it, I was a bit surprised. There were so many rave reviews (ALL 5 STARS) and they were legitimate customers. I like to do my research first and after doing so I contacted Shanaz via phone to make an appt. Wow ! It was quick and easy ! She was able to see me the same day even though it was so last minute. She was very helpful and friendly on the phone. She explained that her address is not found via Yelp since it's at her private residence, but she was able to provide me excellent directions. The best part is she lives so close to me and it's super convenient. Once you enter her home you really feel welcome ! She is a sweet lady and you can tell she enjoys what she does. I immediately felt comfortable as if she was like family. I loved that. She has a room up front strictly for threading and it's very inviting and professionally set-up. Nothing shady here folks. She explained the process to me and asked me questions making sure I achieve the look I wanted. I can tell she really wanted to do a good job to make me happy and wasn't rushing to get my threading done. I appreciated that. You don't get that often at other threading places. I have visited some of the local San Diego threading places in search of a close equivalent to my usual spots back in Cerritos (Los Angeles County). The city of Cerritos prides itself on Little Bombay, which has a wide selection of threading salons and indian food needs. Since moving to San Diego, I've found only a couple of threading salons that were satisfactory at best. They did their job, but usually I felt like they rushed with the job (threading so fast that they break the string and ensure a couple of sharp jabs to my closed eye, along with my unhappy discovery of extra hairs that I would have to come home and pluck). I'm Asian - aka: I'm naturally not that hairy - but the eyebrows/ lip/ chin do tend to get a little fuzzy time to time. In need of a dire threading job, I decided to scour North County Yelp for other options with threading. Yelp led me to Shanaz, my new Threading Auntie, and my new go-to threading place. This was truly a great find, and I'm happy to continue with and refer her business to others. First, scheduling. I called on whim after discovering her yelp page. She was very friendly when answering the phone, and she offered to schedule at my convenience. I inquired whether she was able to see me today, and she said I could come in 10 minutes. Amazing! Literally. I called at 4:00 with inquiry, and I was there at 4:15 on the same day. Shanaz runs her business from her home but has a room set aside for her business. It's clean, inviting, and has a table set up for waxing and threading needs. I was a little hesitant at first going to someone's personal place of residence, but she was very welcoming. It has a nice touch to welcome clients into your home for one-on-one servicing. Second, quality of job performed. I mentioned above that Shanaz created a feeling very much like she was my aunt. She was gentle, careful and detail oriented. You get the feeling like a family member is helping you, instead of a business that is just rushing to get the job done for the money. She made sure that every fine and unwanted hair was removed in a perfect shape. Generally, I feel like I'm an easy thread job since I (a) don't have too much unwanted hair and (b) I have my eyebrows tattooed. Shanaz took her time, let me know what she was doing, inquired to the desired shape of eyebrow, etc. I honestly felt like she was family. Finally, price. The price is competitive to the other local salons. I would say the price matches (if I recall correctly). But when you consider the quality and warmth you receive for the same price, Shanaz definitely outranks the local salons I have discovered in San Diego. Overall, I was extremely pleased with the experience. I received one-on-one personal and almost familial service; the price was reasonable; the quality was outstanding. I really enjoyed my time and experience with Shanaz, and as mentioned, I refer her business for threading needs. It appears that she also handles waxing and other hair removal services. I was out of town, so I hadn't been to Shanaz for my eyebrows in a while. The shape got all messed up over time and I had to start filling in my eyebrows with a pencil to even them out. I couldn't wait to come back to San Diego to have Shanaz fix up my eyebrows for me. I didn't think it would be possible for them to get back to normal in 1 sitting, however she totally reshaped my eyebrows with a beautiful arch to brighten up my face, perfect thickness and length. I saw my friends later and everyone was asking me if I did my makeup differently since just having such gorgeous eyebrows changed the look of my face. Shanaz is the best!!! My friend and I decided to get our eyebrows threaded a few months ago, so we've been letting our eyebrows get gross and nasty. We decided to get them threaded this week (cough work Christmas parties cough) and settled on trying with Shanaz. Well, we found out pretty quick WHY Shanaz has 5/5 stars. Even though we were calling in short notice, Shanaz was ready to take us the same day -- at whatever time WE were available. Whaaaaaaaaaat?! We decided to go a bit after work to avoid traffic and actually ended up at her location 30min early. Oops. Well, she didn't care that we had arrived early and was more than happy to take us in. Woohoo! It was our first time threading so she was very helpful in explaining the method, what to look for, and ways to make our brows the best that they can possibly be for our face shapes. It was incredibly informative and I loved every second of it. Shanaz is such a sweet and kind woman. I'll be honest: The threading hurt and I cried. LOL! It wasn't that much of a pain on my left brow (where I tweeze often), but it was pretty painful for my right brow (where I am lazier with tweezing because I just use my bangs to hide them ahem). She was very pleasant throughout all of it though and distracted me with conversations about movies I'd seen recently, what I was interested in seeing, movies SHE wanted to see, actors SHE loved -- it was really light-hearted and I quickly realized how sweet and silly she is! In that time, I strayed a couple times only out of convenience to try a well known place that just opened up a block away from my house or a place close to work. Let me tell you, this made me appreciate Shanaz so much more. She actually knows what she is doing with the sugaring and threading. She can do this with her eyes closed. I appreciate how fast, thorough, professional and *painless (*as painless as a brazilian could be ) She is. I can go way longer between my appt's with her then the other spots.
