The parking lot was full indicating they were busy, surprisingly we were seated right away. Walking in the door there is a white board with a list of their daily specials, at extremely fair prices. The food is inconsistent. Tonight, my baked fish was cold, my baked potato was hot, and the corn wasn't cooked. The coleslaw and soup were good. The sweet young waitress didn't come back for so long that I went ahead and ate my crummy meal. My husband told me later that his crispy chicken sandwich was stringy and way overdone. My dad's fish was hot, but his fried potatoes were cold. Sometimes we have good experiences at Grace's, but we never know what to expect when we go there. One of the few places in Wisconsin Rapids, WI area with buckets of Broasted Chicken. First off Im a graduated culinary chef who may seem to have high standards but no either food is Horrible, OK or OMG right. there is nothing else. Here we got a 12 pc bucket and about a pound of french fries. First off its NOT broasted chicken its Deep fried. Small shribbled up pieces of chicken with 70 percent breading and the meat was as dry as straw. Horrible. I dont know how anyone thinks this chicken is great? Its as disgusting as KFCs chicken is nowadays and if your old enough to have gotten original KFC in the 70s or 80s you know the original chicken. Now that chicken was amazing. But they have since changed their recipe and soak their chicken in water, not even close to what it was. The only thing I can say about this place is the fries were OK. I felt horrible after coming home and staring at what i got and worse how greasy and blah and gross the chicken was. I almost puked from the fact I wasted 30 dollars and picked it up myself. They hire new employees mainly young teens as servers and use them for work for a short while then fire them and refuse to pay them. Or make up what ever excuse to not pay them. Keep their checks or credit tips. They are a shady buisness. Have been for years. I have many people who can also vouche with me who personally have been victims of their scandals. They con innocent people working, then always end up letting them go for nonsense. Please don't go and support a business that does this to people. Been there three times. First was with a church group. Food was fine so was the waitress. Second time, there was caked on food on my knife. Third time my friend asked for the fish. The waitress said that the battered fish was the Cod for the all you can eat. Come to find out she made a mistake. After the meal was over she was talking with the owner in the back corner and discovered she had made a mistake. They ended up charging my friend an extra $4.00 saying that they didn't have the "All You Can Eat". I went back and said that the waitress misinformed my friend. The owner said that the Gracie's would have to eat the $4.00 if she didn't charge my friend. I said that I didn't give a rat's ass. The owner immediately popped up and said no one curses at her and we were to pay our inflated bill and leave. I went back to her place in the restaurant and said it would be prudent to have the wait staff be more knowledgeable in what they said to the patrons. The owner kept saying that no one cursed at her and was rude to her. I guess she was the only one who is allowed to be rude. read more

First my pork chops come out with a slice of green pepper on the plate which I'm allergic to so I sent them back. Then my avocado wasn't even ripe. So I sent it back and asked the waitress to inform the chef I prefer my avocados ripe. The owner stops and tells my old man and I that she won't have us talk to her server that way. We were not rude in any way. The pork chops came back 5 minutes after I sent them back. My old man got an omelet and hashbrowns and the hashbrowns were raw. I was willing to overlook one bad meal after having been a regular for 2 years but with the rude and discorteous way the owner talked to us Grace's has lost our and our family's business for good. If I could give negative stars after tonight I would. We even stuck with this restaurant through the Covid problem when they opened back up and had plastic silverware and a one sided sheet of paper menu. Good job to Grace's owner for losing such good customers. I would suggest not chancing their food but if you do make sure you don't complain to your server about anything. Open on Memorial Day which was a bonus for us! We came in with 4 people and were seated immediately. I thought the coffee was great and I normally don't comment on that, actually had a second cup. We all ordered something different and really enjoyed our meals. The menu seemed quite large and they do serve breakfast all day. The good cook must have quit because the food quality has gone down hill. We've been disappointed on our last two visits so we won't be going back. Also the waitresses have a terrible habit of tossing dishes in a tote that makes an awful nerve wracking noise. We complained to the manager and he said he would talk to his staff about it AGAIN. first time trying this place, and I can guarantee you last. One of those rare restaurants where it is actually depressing to be in. Should have walked out from the beginning but necessity dictated we try them. Where do I begin. Our food selections were potato skin appetizers, a simple patty melt, and a wrap. Don't think I ever eaten anything more tasteless from any restaurant. I could also go on for 10 minutes about the service but suffice to say, we had to ask for beverages, we had to ask for ice in our beverages, we had to ask for straws, we had to ask for plates when the appetizer came, we had to ask for napkins, we had to ask for silverware, and of course we had to track our waiter down and ask for the check as well. Oh BTW there were only two other tables seated in the entire restaurant so it wasn't like they were short-staffed or overworked. Feels like a place where people are trying to pretend they know how to run a restaurant and don't have a clue. Don't waste your time and money, a McDonald's would be better and tastier. And I don't mean that as an endorsement of McDonald's That's truly how bad this was. Always wondered if this place was any good, now I know. Where to stat? The service was good not as good as it could have been. We went at around 10am we asked if they served lunch all day and they said they do. Lets start with this we waited over an hour for our food because they didnt have anything turned on or ready if you offer lunch all day you should be prepared to make it to order not make them wait an hr+ they were out of soda so he ordered orange juice which was so full of pulp you couldnt even swallow it the coffee was cold and very old my boyfriend ordered the gyro plate with a salad well the waitress came back and said they couldnt do a salad because they didnt have the lettuce cut so he got the soup instead like I got with mine. The chicken dumpling soup was abselutily terrible I had a close to 3 inch stem in my soup what that stem was from is a mystery to me it had so much pepper in it so the soup was a no go. He got his gyro which would come on a pita but to our surprise it did not come on a gyro it came on a very large bed of lettuce why couldnt he get a salad again? I ordered the cod which was also terrible. After I told our waitress I was unempressed she stopped doing her job and avoided us the rest of the meal that we didnt even finish. Im not a very picky person but when we are paying for food I at least want to be able to eat it. We were brought someone elses food the waitresses couldnt tell you anything about the food. I went to Grace's when they first opened and the special was corned beef and cabbage, it was so good we decided to come back for more two weeks later, this time the flavor was not the same, we were disappointed. After some time we decided to give it another try, I ordered the corned beef again, this time I was shocked! From the big platter the very first time, to a "child" size entree this time and flavor still lacking. I didn't come back for a couple months, till now that my children took me there for Mother's Day. They had many specials that looked wonderful on paper, but the reality... Our salads came with the ranch dressing we ordered, but it was so watered down that looked like milk, added no flavor to the salad at all! My son's porterhouse stake was half bone, half meat and we even wondered about the truth of the 18oz. Mashed potatoes not home made, veggies frozen or from a can, they only brought one order of fries and said they other order was coming, 5 mins later we had to remind them we still had no fries, they didn't bring any knives for our steaks, only one of the steaks were cooked right, the other two one was rare, the other overdone.... These specials came with grilled shrimps that were cooked right, but the 5 shrimp equaled to two large shrimps, they were medium if even that. The dessert was same for everybody (included in special), a piece of chocolate cake with strawberry sauce and whipped cream. More inconsistency, two were same size the other much smaller, but one thing in common... the bottoms were BURNT. My advice.... do NOT fall for SPECIALS on Mother's Day, Valentines, or any other holiday when they know more people will come, they do not offer any "specials", when they cut corners and the ending experience is disappointing to say the least if not even feel ripped off, after the total inequality of price and value of what you actually got. I might still go for breakfast and their cakes and pies are very good, not all is bad... that saved them from the 1 rating this experienced deserves. read more

Having been here a few times before and reading the 2 reviews, I felt it was time to speak after today's visit. It was fish fry Friday and the place was very busy. We were seated immediately and our server was there shortly afterwards. The soups were very good and our meals came in good time. The food was well prepared, hot and tasty. The portions were large enough to take plenty home for another complete meal. The menu was fairly large, lots of choices, and with very reasonable prices. Our server checked on us often. Restrooms were clean but in the process of being updated. If I had any complaints, it would be that they didn't have. Dr. Pepper. We will definitely return. read more

My favorite place, I spend two to three days a week on my lunch break here. The food is amazing and the staff is friendly and prompt. I am kind of confused about some of the reviews. I get the feeling that some of the reviewers may be fake reviewers even disgruntled employees. I do hope that Yelp investigates every review good or bad. With that being said staff is great management is great, and the food is awesome! Go to Grace's for a great meal and great service! read more
