Grace Moving Company is awesome! They moved me from Tracy to Manteca on 4/18/21. John, the sales representative is very pleasant, informative and professional. There were NO phone/online quotes. John came out to my home and went through my entire house before giving me a quote. I downsized, so I was in the process of selling a lot of furniture and John told me "if I got rid of anything before my scheduled moving date that he would come back out and give me another quote". Well, I did sale some things and I called the office to schedule an appointment for John to come back out and Laura who is always friendly answered the phone and scheduled the appointment. John came out a few days later and reduced my quote. My quote included four men and seven hours of labor. John told me "if the guys completed the job in six hours to call him back before the guys leave my home and he would take more off the price. We'll the four man team was awesome! They did the job in 4.5 hours. I had a lot of big/heavy items that had to come down lots of stairs in a tri-level home. After the completion of the job Justin, one of the movers (who was also nice and hardworking) phoned John and told him "they were finished" and John reduced my bill just as he said he would. Surprisingly better than expected We have never hired movers before. We asked friends and family members about their experiences and were less than pleased at what we heard. With this information and concern we called Grace Moving. Needless to say we were pleasantly surprised at the complete professionalism from start to finish. There were no surprises and from what we had heard, that in itself is a surprise. Henry, Brandon and Juan showed up early on Saturday, March 9 to move our entire two-story home and three-car garage about 8 miles away. They were very professional and polite at all times - can't say enough about what a great crew this was! We have very heavy furniture and even some tack trunks which are extremely heavy. After padding all of our entryways and any other areas of concern, they immediately wrapped all our items and moved us out of our old home and into our new home in the time that they promised AND at the price that was promised. First off I used this company twice to move our medical offices in Stockton and Modesto after bidding out with three other companies and recently hired them again to move my home based on the quality of work they did for our office. Their prices were not just the lowest, but they were always willing to work within a budget if I gave them one. We had a big move from our larger 2 story home of 19 yrs to a smaller home while we wait for better opportunities to happen. We had called several moving companies and Grace Moving was the only one to have one of its owners come out and give us an estimate. We had some very heavy and large furnishings on the second floor that required careful handling. We did our move at the end of July so it was hot. I opted for a crew of 3 movers, Cole, James , and Darius. They showed up early and went right to work after I showed them the task at hand. I was pleasantly impressed at their organization and skill. It was one of those 100 degree days but it didn't slow them down. It wasn't until the last moments of the delivery until an Italian bookcase that I have owned for over 30 years fell off the lift onto the sidewalk. One of the movers tried moving it himself while the other two were inside assembling our bedroom set. After seeing the damage I thought it might be quite a challenge to repair and match the remaining original pieces. Shortly after this one of a set of eight mahogany dining chairs was damaged while in transit. We bought lunch for the movers before the unloading,and at the end I gave each movers a tip for their overall effort. Their truck was filled completely so a couple of damaged items might happen. I've heard worse moving horror stories so this was an acceptable loss considering the circumstances. They took the damaged items and promised they'd attempt to refurbish the bookshelf and dining chair. I have to admit that I was a little skeptical and figured there would be some monetary settlement as we purchased the $5,000. Damage insurance offered for around 80. I was contacted by Patrick from Grace Moving and kept updated on the repairs. They eventually had Moyes do the repairs and when Patrick delivered them I was very pleased with the repairs and stain match. I would recommend Grace Moving to others. A mishap happened, but they took care of business. We were glad to have hired Grace, and if not for the inconvenience of the damage I would definitely have rated them 5 great stars. read more

I cannot tell you what a horrible experience this company was. My mother and I moved from California to out of state. They were going to get her items first, then come to my house. After they loaded my mother's truck they went back to Modesto and Removed items without her permission or knowledge. The next day they got my load. Not all could fit so they were going to come back later that week, get the rest and take to their warehouse. We were both at my house the next day with the same driver, same loaders were pulled off , because the (brother of owner) David Sturtevant the only person we had contact with, was told one of the loaders tried prying open an antique hutch and broke off the entire latch into pieces. Still nothing mentioned about removing items from the truck. We have numerous emails and text messages to verify. Truck delivered items to the new location two days before we could get there. We were delayed because, while my mom's furniture was being loaded, she got an emergency call-my brother was in the hospital with a serious staph infection. We had a friend meet the moving truck when they arrived-she was in communication with us the whole time. The driver rarely got out of the truck and the rest of the crew was in a hurry and left all boxes and some furniture in the garage. We have a 2 story house with a basement. We had to hire another company to place furniture and boxes were they belonged. We have a receipt. When we arrived we noticed almost all the furniture was damaged, warped, dinged and dented. Then we noticed items missing and each day asking where items where. They would ask driver and look for items. It was confirmed by David little by little as the days went by that they had the items. Nothing ever mentioned, until we started asking, which was a week later. Prior to my move, I thought about getting a u-haul because it would save me a lot of money. I had to move from Hollywood to northern California by myself; it would be very hard for me to do this alone but I didn't want to have a moving company help me at first. This is something I don't like to admit but my mom was totally right about hiring a moving company because it made my life so much easier. The staff was wonderful and he wouldn't let me help him, he made me sit and relax while he did all the work. My particular situation was difficult and my need for moving assistance changed after the initial quote. However, my experience with this company left me frustrated and upset. Many of my good-quality furniture was scratched, damaged and just plain missing upon final delivery. No doubt moving heavy furniture is difficult work but this was my second move in 17 years and I suffered no damage hiring a different company during that first move! Obviously, I had high expectations. All of the workers were very nice, but I don't know why I ended up with so much damage. They just didn't care and didn't take proper steps in protecting my furniture. In addition, one thing that I didn't understand early on is that the supervisor apparently coded almost all of my furniture as "W" which means "badly worn" in their terms. This couldn't be further from the truth! One of their workers was the one that pointed out this labeling and even felt the need to contradict what was written on my invoices! So why wouldn't he have called this out during the initial walkthrough? None of this was discussed. Move day was pure chaos. During the initial process of placing stickers on items to be loaded into their truck; they left so many items out that I had to move them myself. This just added to the confusion. I paid for 2 trucks and 7 guys, why did this go so wrong? I admit some items were not perfect and I would be the first to readily admit this but most of my furniture and appliances were brand new. I know where every mark and scratch is and there weren't too many until this move. Worst moving company from hell you can ever dream of! Your worst nightmare come true! Worse of the worse! I needed to do a whole-house move, and had a very strict dead-line in which to be moved by. Had several referrals to this outfit. They sent their head estimator out to inspect my home to see what all I had, and give me a cost/time quote. He assured me that he was their head/most experienced estimator, that they guaranteed to honor and fulfill their price quote. I showed him my antique heirloom furniture -- dating back to the early American Colonies, English Reformation, European Reformation, Ming Dynasty, etc. They promised to use my boxes first, label boxes on top and two sides, & not using any hand trucks on my furniture, which could dent, scratch, and/or leave paint transfer on heirloom/antique, museum quality furniture. I also purchased their maximum amount of insurance available. They were your worst nightmare from hell! They refused to use any of my boxes! They would use only their boxes, and failed/refused to lable any of my boxes, even on one side. So I ended up with 300+ boxes, none of them labled, saying what is in them, or even what room they came out of! They brought too many people (which I had to pay for), they were standing around, doing nothing, getting in each other's way. They all seemed angry and disrespectful, from the greedy owner, to the supervise/estimated, down to every last employee. They put huge dents and dings in virtually every piece of furniture I have!!! They used steel hand trucks on all my antique wood furniture, leaving paint transfer, scratches, and more dents and dings!!! They smoked on the job, in my non-smoking home!!! And since my non-smoking home has no ash trays, they just laid their burning cigarettes down on my antique wood furniture, leaving cigarette burns on many of my priceless prices of antique furniture!!! In one room I have very blond furniture. And one of their morons decided to put furniture polish on the pieces, ... but used a furniture polish only for mahogany furniture because it has an orangish tint to it. So as you can imagine, that moron ruined the natural patina on that gorgeous bedroom sit! But so did another one of their idiots who must have been wearing a huge metal western belt buckle, that scratched and mared the snot out of my previously pristine furniture!!! The workers were standing around doing nothing, the supervisor was failing to supervise, and I had a moving deadline, so I politely let them know I wasn't going to pay them to stand around and do nothing, and to please work or go home. He got outraged, and began using a hand truck to beat the crap out of my mint condition washer & drier, which I had always kept covered with soft cloth for protection from even the slightest wear or scratches. And he is angrily beating the sides in with a hand truck!!! I told them NOT to stack ANY furniture in the moving truck.They promised me they had a speed governor on their truck, but that was just another one of tounltless lies! They were supposed to transport my furniture and other personal items to Sacramento, and this was a load with many of my most valuable, priceless, irreplaceable items. They were supposed to wait until I was ready to follow them, but instead took off while I was busy locking up the house. Got on I5 freeway toward Sacramento 80 MPH trying to catch them, only to get a call from them, saying they didn't feel like taking your belongings to Sacramento, so were taking them to their secure locked indoor warehouse in Modesto! I insisted they turn around and take it to Sacramento, as they were hired to do, but they refused, hung up, and must have driven that moving truck with my most priceless items at about 85-90 MPH all the way to Modesto, because I drove there going 89 MPH, & still couldn't catch them, and I had an hours drive to catch them in.They lied again, and didn't store the truck in their secure locked warehouse against a wall as promised, but outside in the burning sun, and with the back & side doors not against anything!!! They didn't even have the padlock locked! They promised to move it to Sacramento the next day. But that was a lie too! That truck with many of my most priceless items sat there in the burning sun, unlocked, in their very unsecure yard for nearly a week!!! When they finally delivered that load to Sacramento, I discovered one of the truck had my furniture stacked one piece on top of another, all the way to the roof of the truck, and had sat that way for nearly a week, in the burning sun!!! When the truck was unloaded, some of the furniture items were crushed!!! And other items were missing!!! And although they guaranteed their rate at the start, they kept coming back, & demanding more and more money, and threatening to walk off the job if they didn't get it. They seemed proficient in the beginning. But after I decided to not purchase their "extra" insurance (which I never added with the 4 other companies I used) The service was lousy. I have never had so many broken item and I'm still not unpacked. So far they broke my 65" flat screen TV which I specifically bought a box for (which was recommended) The loaders only wrapped it in a blanket. They only paid me $200.00 for that. Grace Moving did an outstanding job. On the day of the move all five of the movers shook our hands and introduced themselves-as they entered our home . They were very friendly and professional. Our job was 5 guys with an estimate of 10 hours. They finished in 6.5 including drive time, saving us quite a bit of money. My wife and I moved with Grace Moving on 3/15/2018, from Patterson to a location in Modesto. Prior to the move we had an estimator from Grace Moving come out He explained the costs for the move and made things very clear to us. Based on his information we decided to hire Grace Moving. Our furniture was wrapped with pads and stretch wrap so it was protected very well.I have some large pictures in frames which were wrapped with precision. Our boxes were moved on dollies. Then men doing the work were very diligent and took excellent care of our belongings. My large flat screen TV was pad wrapped very carefully and handled extra carefully. Everything was done right WE HAD NO DAMAGE WHATSOEVER!!! Our move went perfectly. Over and above all that, nobody complained while bringing my heavy furniture up fifteen stairs. We used Grace Moving company to move us from Turlock to Oakdale. We chose them because we were told they were honest Christians. WERE WE EVER WRONG! We were told by their sales person that all of our expensive Drexel Heritage furniture would be wrapped. That didn't happen. We had Grace moving company put all of our possessions into the garage of our new house. They stacked box on top of boxes. Furniture on top of furniture. It was a mess. We had to remodel our house before moving in. Three months later we had Grace moving company take all our furniture and possessions into the house. We had many of their storage boxes that had to be emptied to be returned to them. When they moved the furniture in we found many scratches. The furniture had not been wrapped. We have now determined that we are missing possessions in excess of $2000. My wife has found that 3 of her expensive purses are missing, a very expensive stainless steel ALL CLAD frying pan is missing, 10 sets of expensive Macy's towels, two very expensive Macy's designer pillows, fine china dishes, wireless telephone, and other small items. WE contacted Sally at Grace moving. Sally told us that we did not take out extra insurance on our move so only they would only cover a few cents per each pound. NO HELP THERE. Does Grace moving do background checks on their movers? We are Senior citizens and paid out close to $2000 for our move. We are sickened by the dishonesty of this company.
