Disappointed today. I ordered a large iced chai with oat milk online and came in for pickup. I waited until 7 minutes past the time they said and then asked about it at the counter. They rudely pointed me to the pickup table and said it was there. I pointed out that the drink in the pickup table was some kind of hot coffee or tea. This seemed to annoy them and they started making me a new drink. It was not even close to full and they don't appear to have made it with the oat milk I paid extra for. My first time at this location and my first time ordering food from Grace. It's a perfect spot! Right in downtown Middleton, lots of nice outdoor seating options and a bright and open indoor space. Right on theme with the other Grace locations. This one might be my new fav. I was here for lunch and had avocado toast with a hot chai latte. We ordered at the counter and then found a place to sit. Food was ready in less than 10 minutes. The avocado toast was delicious! It was on a huge piece of soft sourdough bread. I loved the everything spice seasoning they sprinkled on top. Such a cute place! Love the theme - cause cute puppies are always a win. Everything is very colorful and relaxing, there were tons of people working. I've been to Grace a couple of times and have had mixed experiences (some good, some not so great). Most recently, I had an small iced hazelnut latte and a chocolate croissant (total was $11.02). The latte was okay (nothing too great but not bad), but I did enjoy the croissant (it was huge & delicious). However, based on past experiences, not sure if I'd recommend the food (had the acai bowl and didn't love it - also waited 30ish min). I have been to other graces coffees recently and they were magnificent. But this place was a real let down. I ordered a matcha a few weeks ago and they handed slightly green milk. Cold brew didn't seem like much and then I was up until 2 am The interior of this coffee shop is just *gorgeous* I adore the beautiful wall murals, generous seating (!!), and giant plants. I came around noon on Friday hoping I'd find a good spot to get some work done, (including a zoom call with my coworker). I had an excellent experience working on their bar. It was busy enough that I could get my zoom call in without awkwardly disturbing others. The baristas mind their business and stay busy doing their jobs. When I ordered my coffee a barista got to me quickly without rushing me through the line. My coffee was done just as fast. Today is opening day and right now for me, it was OK, but I WILL definitely be back post-grand opening because I really enjoy the Grace Coffee Co. aesthetic, ambiance, and products from previous locations. Staff were friendly, willing to answer questions, but I think it higher crowd times, maybe not as prepared for social distant precautions, but I know we're all doing our best. Here's some more context on their grand opening, from my experience. I arrived at about 10:30am and left around 10:50am today. The time you visit also plays a huge factor for businesses I think. Grand opening discount: Today and tomorrow (11/12-11/3) they are promoting 20% off everything for all customers, but when I looked at bill in my car, I was charged full price. I fact checked this with the menu of their other locations. Not a big deal, but something that did lure me to leave my cave and try this location out. COVID precautions: - Pros -- There were signs posted that you could see outside and it seems like there was only 1 way to enter and 1 way to exit (but no signage), all the staff were wearing masks and there were dividers with the baked goods. There was QR code to review the menu as well. -Cons -- It was crowded. It really felt like a pre-COVID environment which actually worried me a lot given the rising numbers in Wisconsin right now. People that were ordering or just arrived were wearing masks, but a lot of people that were there to lounge/work were not, even when not actively eating/drinking, just talking with one another. The staff were busy trying to get orders done quickly that no one was monitoring it or cleaning tables when people left. There were no markers on where to stand in line as well so I stayed in the far corner waiting for my name to called. My Order: -Everything croissant -- this croissant was delicious. The croissant itself was created/baked perfect. It had a nice flaky outside with extremely light and airy soft inside. There was not as much everything flavoring as I thought and I didn't know there was cream cheese filling in there until the last bite -- baking process must have pushed it to one side. -Peppermint Mocha -- the drink itself was good, but only if I ordered a regular mocha. I tasted no peppermint at all, unfortunately. Like I said, I will definitely be back because this location is closest to me and will update my review on that experience, but I wanted to get this out now so people were aware of the COVID precautions. read more

This was my first time at Grace Coffee in Middleton. It was jam packed late morning on a Sunday. There was a mix of tables, high tables, standing bar space, and comfy couches with coffee tables. I really enjoyed the atmosphere. The mix of sitting space allowed for everyone to enjoy the space no matter the occasion. There was a group celebrating a birthday, a family with young children, people working/studying on their laptops, and other just stopping for a bite or for coffee. The lighting was perfect with modern industrial lights that gave a warm and welcoming glow. Also the live plants were a nice touch. Grace Coffee is a order up front and sit down establishment. I ordered the breakfast wrap with potatoes and a matcha latte. My friend ordered the tostadas and a regular latte. Our food actually came out before our drinks which was pretty impressive. The food was good and priced as one would expect from a more "upscale" coffee spot. Overall Grace Coffee in Middleton was a welcoming spot with great atmosphere and quick service. My first visit to Grace Coffee in Middleton was a busy one. The ordering line was all the way to the door. Luckily customers were patient and distanced from each other. We only saw paper menus on nearby tables and no large overhead coffee/drink menu. We thought that was a little odd. There were two cash register people and they were both very efficient. Since we ordered a hot sandwich we were given a beeper to hang on to. Had to wait for our drinks at a different counter where they called out your name. Our drinks, an iced oatmilk latte and a decaf Americano with almond milk, were both stellar. The scrambled egg & cheddar sandwich with potatoes was awesome. The challenge with grace is consistency of product and customer service. When their coffee drinks are on point they are really good. When they are not - meh. Once got all the way home and they had forgotten to put the espresso shots in my breve. Sometimes the giant scones are outstanding... sometimes they are dry or doughy. On my most recent experience the espresso drinks were decent but getting them ordered was an ordeal with the barista constantly interrupting me to tell me I was ordering my drink wrong and that's not what a breve is. I've literally been enjoying the indie coffee culture since before the not so pleasant Battista was born. I really do think she was perhaps trying to be helpful and educate this curmudgeon... but at some point maybe it's better to not be so insistent that the customer is doing it all wrong... maybe just make them the drink they want. The ambiance of this place is SO good! It's a great place to relax, study, work, or hang out with friends. Grace is filled with cozy light fixtures , trendy decor, and relaxing furniture. Ended up at Grace Coffee Co. at the suggestion of a friend for our coffee and conversation date. It was plenty busy on the Sunday midday that we arrived. I took the last seat available in the place. My friend ordered so I can't speak to the service at the register other than to say you wait in a line in order. I was surprised to get hot chocolate in a coffee cup for a sit down hang out situation. I opened it and there was just milk and chocolate and an inch or so of free space at the top. I just really surprise that for a shop that's supposed to be high end there was no whip cream, cocoa, cinnamon or anything. Starbucks shows more effort. In the summer, there's a decent amount of outdoor seating with tables, in the winter, it's nice and warm inside. The food counter is in the back corner, and usually does take a bit to have food prepared but most of the food is worth the wait. read more
