Restaurant is very nice with a contemporary vibe. The flavors were all really good and not overpoweringly rich or greasy like some southern food can be. They had a great bar menu and the kids menu had stuff for picky eaters and good eaters. Our server Mathew was great!

Wow! Came here last night and the food did not disappoint. We had family in town and we wanted to give them a true southern food experience. The grit flights is a great choice if you want to try a variety of sweet and savory options. Out of the eight pictured, my favorite was the jalapeño cheddar, it was creamy but also had a lot of heat! I was a huge fan of the truffle chive, but others thought that it was too strong for them. For our entrees, my fiancé had the beef rib with candied yams and I ordered the pan roasted chicken. The beef rib was smokey and the sweetness of the yams balanced out the whole dish. The chicken didn't 'wow' me, but I was a fan of the roasted veggies + grits under it. Everything had so much flavor! The service was great, and I love the atmosphere in this place. It's moody with the interior wood beams, and dimmed lighting. However, we were sat in the back room with long tables and it gets pretty loud in there. Definitely would recommend this spot to family + friends who are looking for flavorful southern cooking.

This was a wonderful place to pop in for a quick bite. They have a beautiful building with a large outdoor patio, it was too chilly so we sat inside but excited for warmer days an sitting outside. The fish dip was utterly delicious. Fresh and the perfect texture. We got full quickly off the delicious biscuits and didn't have room to explore the menu more, but I'll def be back. The restaurant has a lot of reclaimed wood and other decorations from historical elements of Charleston and is beautiful yet modern. A really nice blend. It gave me prohibition vibes but was also modern. Our server was wonderful, existed us on the restaurant, and extremely kind while taking care of us. If you haven't been by, stop in for this delicious southern local cuisine.

Make sure to make a reservation if you're wanting to try this place out! They have an awesome brunch menu. We sat outside under the covered patio with the fans so the heat wasn't that bad. Sunday afternoon at 11 AM it was packed! They have a very good and reasonably priced mimosa flight which gets you four juices and a bottle of champagne for only $28. I did the Charleston hot chicken eggs Benedict and it had great flavor, and the English muffin was actually a grit cake. The chicken was crispy and perfectly cooked. You can upgrade your side to any of their signature grits for just two dollars extra and I'm so glad I did! I've never had grits like this, highly recommend the Brussels sprout pesto grits.

This is my second time coming to grace and grit and it's easily my favorite breakfast place when I travel to Mount Pleasant. Learned about the peach tea this time and it was delicious. Also learned we could build our own grits flight for an extra $2 so we did that along with getting breakfast sides and meat to go with it. We had plenty to eat and food to take home. The service was great from the hostess, to our waiter, to the food runners. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and nicely decorated. It's not loud so fun for the entire family.

Fun restaurant we went to after dinner for drinks and dessert. They have a special winter cocktail menu and dessert menu. The cheesecake dessert we got was delicious, and the dark-moody lighting was appealing. The waitress was super kind and checked on us multiple times. It wasn't crowded and we were able to get a seat right away.

Our server was excellent, I honestly can't remember his name but he was very tall and wore glasses. He was so nice and helpful with dish modifications. Came with a group of friends, and we all enjoyed our meals. I had the shrimp n grits, others had the chicken n waffles, heuvos rancheros, shrimp Benny. Quick and simple service with good food can't ask for much for a brunch date.

Came with a friend this evening. First time here and it was definitely 10/10 for decor, cleanliness and the ambiance. Soft dim lighting and very impressive and fully stocked bar! Custom drinks to choose from and really neat whiskey flights. Don't feel like a drink this evening, but thought that it was clever to have some drinks classified labeled under the restaurant name...drinks of "grace" or drinks of "grit". The menu was a bit limited but had a good variety of low country favorites, fresh seafood, and of course grits! I can't have too much dairy and ordered the Joyce Farms Airline Chicken Breast with the presentation of the Boiled Peanut Succotash. Definitely a neat spin on the traditional Succotash and a hearty helping! I could not finish and took the rest home for leftovers. I would like to come back and try the something different. Food was made to order and required a little wait but it was not bad at all. Would definitely come again.

Overall: One of the best meals I've had in Mount Pleasant! The good: All of the flavors are incredible, from the cocktails and grit flight to the entrees and dessert. Yes the grits are the highlight (still thinking about the pesto and blueberry options specifically), but so are the proteins too. The fried chicken was crispy and fresh, and the several fish that we had were all cooked to perfection. The atmosphere is cozy yet trendy, and the staff was attentive and informative (and they kept our toddler entertained). Capped off the great night with a complimentary anniversary creme brulee! The not-so-good: Obviously the prices are a little high, but the quality shows as well as the attention to detail. Food/drink: 9.5/10 Atmosphere: 9/10 Service: 9.5/10

Awesome dinner with family -- the restaurant atmosphere was clean, inviting, not overly loud and really nicely decorated. The bread basket with the variety of breads was great. The okra was delicious. Everyone enjoyed their meals. The shrimp & grits were particularly great. Great service, too!

We had to try the Apple Pie shots since everyone seems to talk about them. This is way more complex than some apple flavor liquor. The ingredients take some prep work, and the result is something that literally tastes like apple pie. If they bottled this, I would definitely buy it. They have two specialty drinks, the Freshy and the Orange Crush, both of which are made with fresh squeezed juice squeezed right when you order. I had the Freshy which is orange or grapefruit juice with your favorite liquor. I chose grapefruit with vodka and even though I am not a huge fan of grapefruit the freshness and tartness of the drink made it quite enjoyable. My wife had the Orange Crush with Deep Eddy's O.J vodka, Triple Sec, Sprite and some of that fresh squeezed orange juice. It was nice and sweet which was good since we were ordering a lot of savory options. The Potato Skins arrived first and they were truly impressive. Good sized skins with the perfect amount of potato, not too thick or too dry and definitely homemade. They had mixed cheese, bacon and green onions served with sour cream also loaded with green onions. As far as all the potato skins I have had these were a standout. Next came the onion rings with an absolute massive serving for just eight dollars. You could tell they were homemade and served with a chili garlic sauce. The best part was the batter coating which was crispy yet didn't fall off when bent or bitten. They reheated nicely in the air fryer. Next, we tried the Toasted Raviolis which were filled with Italian sausage and served with a house made marinara. They were nice and crispy, but the true star was the marinara sauce which was thick and chunky with parmesan mixed all throughout. I wish they had more dishes that used this sauce as it was excellent. On the advice of some regulars, I tried the chicken fingers which were all breast meat, dill brined and hand battered. It was good advice since the chicken was juicy and tender with a flavorful coating. Sometimes it pays to ask. My wife ordered the thing they are known for their Philly Cheesesteak. She decided on double meat, and they were super generous to the point she looked at me and said, "I don't know how I am going to finish this!". This cheesesteak gets nominate for a lot of best of lists and I could see why. I liked that the cheese was mixed in with the meat and not just poured on top. She enjoyed it but said next time she will order it as is. This is a great place to hang out and relax and maybe catch a band or some bluegrass and enjoy a great meal!

First Visit to Husk -- Worth Every Bit of the Hype…read more After hearing so much about Husk over the years, we finally made our first visit--and somehow it still exceeded every expectation. Housed in a beautifully restored historic Charleston home, Husk perfectly captures everything you love about the city's charm. From the moment you walk through the doors, the atmosphere feels warm, elegant, and inviting. We were seated upstairs in a gorgeous dining room where the tables were thoughtfully spaced, making the experience feel intimate rather than crowded. The hospitality was outstanding from start to finish, but our server, Chris, truly made the evening unforgettable. He welcomed us with genuine enthusiasm and, after taking our cocktail orders, walked us through the menu--which changes daily. Rather than simply listing dishes, Chris described each one in detail, explaining the flavors, ingredients, and preparations with such passion that you couldn't help but get excited about every option. It's rare to meet someone who so clearly loves what they do, and his knowledge and personality elevated our entire dining experience. We started with the Yellowfin Tuna Crudo and the Woodfired Oysters. The tuna, paired with delicate slices of cantaloupe, sounded like an unusual combination on paper, but somehow it was absolute perfection. Every bite was fresh, bright, and beautifully balanced. The oysters arrived warm, buttery, and perfectly seasoned--simple, yet incredibly satisfying. For my entrée, I ordered the Seared Diver Scallops served over creamed corn. I'll admit, I was hesitant because creamed corn has never been one of my favorites. But after Chris encouraged me to trust the dish--and after seeing how incredible the appetizers were--I went for it. I'm so glad I did. The scallops were perfectly seared, tender, and sweet, while the creamed corn was rich, fresh, and nothing like the version I had imagined. It completely changed my mind. My husband chose the Rabbit Roulade, which was cooked beautifully with just the right amount of spice to keep each bite interesting without overwhelming the dish. We also shared the Hearth-Baked Skillet Cornbread, and if you're debating whether to order it...don't. Just do it. It's absolutely worth it. Then came dessert. Chris walked us through several tempting options, including a mud pie, a watermelon ice pie, and a peach cobbler, along with Husk's house-made ice creams featuring flavors like Chocolate Peanut Butter and Key Lime Pie (plus a refreshing fruit sorbet). We settled on the Peach Cobbler along with scoops of the Chocolate Peanut Butter and Key Lime Pie ice creams. Every single bite was phenomenal. The cobbler tasted like summer in a bowl, while both ice creams were so flavorful and creamy that we kept passing them back and forth trying to decide which one we liked better. Spoiler alert: we never could. From the stunning historic setting and exceptional service to the thoughtfully crafted food, Husk delivered an experience that reminded us why Charleston has become such an incredible food destination. If Husk has been sitting on your "one day" list, consider this your sign. Make the reservation. Trust your server. Order dessert. And enjoy every single bite.

Had a quick lunch there. The restaurant was half-full when I arrived, at about 1:45pm. There was a…read moresmall shaded patio. For food, I tried the fried catfish entree and Green apple-cauliflower soup. Both dishes were good. The fish was very tender and juicy. The butter bean succutash, which I never had before, contained butter beans, black eyed peas, corns, green and red peppers and red onions. It was delicious but since beans are of high FODMAP, I only had a little. The fish was topped with tomato jam made with crushed tomatoes, onions and sugar. It was served chilled. Paired well with the fish and succutash. The soup was creamy, silky, and full of flavor from cauliflower. The pistachio added some crunchiness to it. The taste of "green apple" was not obvious; in fact I was expecting there to be some apple slices, which could add extra texture and sourness to this rich soup. I also asked for a side of sourdough. A bit too salty for me. The service was kinda slow, except that food came out in reasonable amoutn of time **after I placed the order**, that is, I waited quite a while to order my food. The same for doing the check. I guess it was because there were not many staff at lunchtime, and most of them were senior thus could move as fast as young ppl.

This iconic Charleston Restaurant is still a favorite! From…read morethe minute you walk in it's special. Who doesn't love white tablecloths. The servers are dressed in traditional white and black. The original character still shines. Our server (I believe her name was Stephanie) was excellent. Good was very good as well. I had crusted Halibut and my husband had the traditional fried chicken. We didn't have a reservation on a Tuesday night and were seated immediately but would recommend reservations just in case.

By the time we sat down, we'd spent the entire day being foodies around Charleston, so I really needed to keep it on the lighter side. Before dinner, we split the Pimento Cheese appetizer, which was really good. The accompanying "flatbread" had a great crunch to it and paired nicely with the pimento cheese. For my meal, I ordered a cup of the Blue Crab Bisque and the Beets & Berries Salad. I couldn't resist trying the bisque, but honestly, I didn't think it was anything to write home about. The salad, however, was outstanding. For a salad, it had quite a lot of flavor! The combination of arugula, honey roasted nuts, radishes, whipped ricotta, and chipotle vinaigrette was refreshing and great. I especially enjoyed the whipped ricotta and the honey roasted nuts. Our server, Seth, was good but not particularly memorable. We were there toward the end of the night, so maybe everyone was just winding down. Overall, I'm really glad we were able to experience Magnolias because it's such a well known Charleston restaurant. The food was good, the atmosphere was lovely (we saw a couple celebrating their engagement), and I'm happy we were able to check it off the list. But, with so many incredible restaurants in and around Charleston, I'm not sure Magnolias would be at the very top of my list if (when!) I make it back.
