Wonderful custom cakes! This is the third time I've ordered a custom cake from gourmet grind. Each time, the bakery has done such a great job of creating a beautifully decorated cake that's always delicious and very affordable too. The first time, we ordered the strawberry champagne cake and requested to have it decorated for a wedding anniversary. The second was a classic carrot cake and cream cheese frosting for a birthday with friends. I still dream about how good that cake was. This time was for a 70th birthday at Bistro Napa- I got a Grand Marnier custard filled cake with mandarin oranges, chocolate ganache and alternating chocolate and white cake layers. It was such a hit! And tastefully decorated too. The process is so easy if you go in person. Another reviewer posted a photo of the order form. I take a look at it ahead of time to figure out what I want, then go during non-peak coffee shop hours to place my order. Plus, I can pick up a treat for myself from the bakery case while I'm there. You can even have your cake seamlessly delivered to any of the Atlantis restaurants if you are having your celebration there. read more

I normally am not impressed by gelato, but I was pretty satisfied with the gelato and service when my friends and I swung by this place on a Friday night. Personally, it's very seldom that I find a place that has gelato with a good pistachio flavor. But I was thoroughly surprised with the pistachio flavor they were selling. I got a small cup which was under 6 dollars and I thought it was a pretty big portion size for one person. It was good and I would get this gelato again but I wouldn't go out of my way to go through Atlantis to feed my gelato craving. I ordered the Strawberry Acai, Dragon Fruit and Mango Dragon Fruit Refreshsers with coconut milk. AMAZING! I don't know why I've never had this before. The Stawberry and Acai was my favorite. It's not too sweet, not over powering and just a great drink. The Dragon Fruit and Mango Dragon Fruit were a lot sweeter, but still great. You can also choose the base between water, lemonade and coconut milk. This cafe also offers Gelato, pastries, cakes, cookies, sandwiches and salad. I've had their cakes before and they are delicious. The only thing that stopped me from giving it 5 stars was the service. I felt like I was bothering the girl that was helping me. I've never really had a refresher before and can't drink sweet drinks, so I asked if she knew what it was sweetened with. From then on all her answers were either super vague and mundane. Almost as if I was bothering her. It was super disappointing. Follow up... I needed to come back to the Atlantis the following day and of course I ordered another refresher. Stopped by this place while I was visiting the Atlantis Hotel & Casino during a Lake Tahoe trip. Group wanted to gamble, so gamble we did. I was actually super surprised they had so many food options inside of the hotel. My group had originally wanted to eat at the buffet inside, but the wait time looked to be around 2-3 hours, so we decided to eat elsewhere. Couldn't help but eye the tasty looking desserts this place had on display in particular. The presentation of the desserts is pretty pleasing! However, I thought they tasted just ok... Which is what I'd expect of a bakery inside of a casino. I got a chocolate peanut butter cake slice and cream puff with strawberry slices. The cake was fine. Kind of underwhelming on both the chocolate and peanut butter front. Texture was fine, and it was moist. The cream puff surprised me as it had custard on the inside. I had expected it to just be whipped cream, but even with the custard it was also just ok. The custard didn't really stand out in any way. It wasn't an overly sweet cream puff, which I'll give it a thumbs up for. Wouldn't really go out of my way to try this place, but if I was at Atlantis again and I felt something sweet, I'd try another item on display. read more

Boy did the team deliver! Look: 5/5 The cake itself was elegant. The flowers were well placed and the colors came out perfect. The accent pieces really brought a little something to the cake and the font was well written and sophisticated. Taste: 5/5 We got a white cake with some fresh strawberry filling. The cake was so moist and melted in your mouth. Even though the cake had to travel ~150 miles and it was enjoyed 2 days after the pick up and it was still absolute divine and tasted fresh. The whipped cream was the perfect sweetness and didn't overpower. Value: You're not going to find a place to get a better valued custom cake. I'm now literally looking for some reason to get a cake for next month from this incredible team... maybe Halloween? Unfortunately, I've been going here for couple of years every day for a drink and a donut. Every day we go and try to get a Strawberry Frappucino and every day the staff tells us that they have no strawberries. Good place to get coffee and pastries in the morning while staying at or visiting the Atlantis casino. They can get pretty busy but the employees are pretty efficient. They brew Starbucks coffee ($3-4) and their pastries ($3-5) are huge and pretty tasty. Didn't try any of their other breakfast or lunch items but they also sell quiches, sandwiches, parfaits, and gelato. I would probably come back for breakfast if staying here again in the future. read more

Ever since the Yelp whiskey class and Christian, the property sommelier, showed me I could get a scoop of vanilla gelato here and walk a few feet to the sports bar and drop the gelato in a shot of Jeremiah Weed - that's one adult root beer float that can kick your butt later. Two tries here this week, two bad experiences. First was grabbing a yogurt drink with breakfast, having the employee notice it had expired 7 days previous. Glad he pointed it out, but his response to me was unbelievable... "You know, you really should check things like this before buying them." I attended a conference this weekend at the Atlantis. I know I could have made coffee at home, but I didn't. The Gourmet Grind serves Starbucks coffee, but is not a Starbucks. They also serve delicious pastries, bagels, cakes, oatmeal, and other items I probably missed. Although not a Starbucks, they offered many of the same drinks, and I was pleasantly surprised to enjoy a Grande soy vanilla latte from them 3 days in a row. The service was always kind, and the drinks were really good! It felt a bit pricey, 2 drinks and a pastry with a tip cost me about $20. Sunday morning I had quite a wait as they only had 1 lady behind the counter and she was working as fast as she could. I expected my coffee to suffer due to this, but the 3rd day tasted just as good as the 1st. I'm on this new diet, so I didn't indulge in the pastries, but they look delicious. My bagel (I left my healthy breakfast in the freezer one day) was toasted nicely. They only had cream cheese and butter (I would have loved avocado, peanut butter, or hummus instead) but those are the typical offerings. All in all, if I need coffee in the Atlantis I would definitely go back. Service was good, drinks were good, and it was a good selection with a few seats to sit and talk. read more

I have to write a review of our Fav coffee in Reno. Gourmet Grind is the small pick up only coffee stop inside Atlantis Casino. They have some unique mocha drinks such as German Chocolate (taste like german chocolate cake) and Apple pie. The drinks are brewed up fresh and are quite tasty although a few of the novelty drinks can be too sweet. The coffee is also super hot so be carefull! The star of this place is the BEST raspberry croissant I have ever had. Now this is not some one time deal, we have been coming to this place for a decade and I was told that the baker is French and thats why the croissant is so good. The croissants are super crispy yet buttery and flakey. The raspberry is perfect, not to sweet, not to tart and just the right amount of filling. The almond and chocolate croissants are equally delicious. If you are ever in Reno and you want a good cup of coffee and a KILLER croissant please try this place! read more

Horrible customer service, Tarvin was very unhelpful and rude, when asked if food could be heated up (after being directed to this place) he consistently refused without giving a valid reason. He said he'd call his manger but when he called his manager there was no answer and he prompted to say my manager said no, without him even talking to him. They have seriously yummy cakes. I've attached the order form so you can see all of the possible options. The round cakes I've gotten have two layers of frosting. Next time I order I'm going to ask for only one, more cake less frosting. But, their frosting is delicious. Super friendly ladies work at this spot in the Atlantis. They also serve Gelato and Starbucks! Anytime I can get Starbucks without going there is great to me! No secret I'm not a coffee guy but this place has a nice desert selection. That being said the coffee they use is Starbucks. Seriously. And some 50 feet away is an actual Starbucks. I always order my sons birthday cakes from gourmet grind in Atlantis ! I ordered two cakes this weekend and one was for my sons 4th birthday . When they showed me the cake it was skylander themed and had two very small pictures and didn't look like very impressive esp for a kids party . I didn't say anything and just kept on, the young girl at the front said we can tape it closed after showing me and my small cake had a name spelt wrong so the pastry chef "Kayline Johnson " brought it back up and saw it was just me and my four year old . She asked where I parked and being it was a Saturday I said we parked far . She offered to walk us to the car carrying both cakes over her shoulder. When we got home we opened the cake to show my husband and the images have stuck to the top and the cake was ruined . I called knowing her intentions were good but I didn't want my son disappointed . He couldn't wait to see his skylander cake . She was very accommodating, apologetic and felt really bad. She said she would fix it and make us a new one , she apologized and even offered to bring it to our house for the Inconvenience. That was so impressive and very nice and had us surprised especially coming from a casino ! The next day she had personally delivered it to our house and came back with a very impressive and beautiful cake that my son wouldn't stop talking about how cool and nice his cake was ! It looked ten times better and for her to personally deliver it was unheard of and definitely effort , and going above and beyond! You are a huge asset to Atlantis Kayline ! I told everyone what you did and it's so impressive and the nicest service we could ever imagine !
