Beef Brisket Bomber with All American Burger behind.

Great stop from 95- instead of fast food or going into Fredericksburg for finer dining. Of course I loved it! 90s Gen Xer! Loved all he artwork and Rolling stone framed covers. Tried their beef brisket without bbq sauce-- which is homemade but sweet. Still fabulous having cut out an ingredient with no subs! Well I did add their 240 sauce which was great. No ketchup needed! Just use that for tots! And what a respectable establishment-- no fries available-- ONLY TOTS! The owner / chef must be very familiar of the only good part of 80's/ 90s school lunches! Thanks for the nostalgia

Veggie Burger Melt w/ sweet potato tater tots.

After a very long day I wanted a burger! Lol a vegetable burger that is. Luckily there's so many tasty places to eat in Fredericksburg Gourmeltz wasn't hard to find. The vegetable burger was good, different. Imagine a grilled cheese veggie burger sandwich. Extremely tasty. You won't get the thickness of beans and veggies but, it's good. A definite must try. The sweet potato tots were exactly what you would expect. 10/10. So good. Plus, if you're looking for a sports bar this is the place. Each wall has TVs! And the crowd is a vibe!

I had read the reviews for this casual eatery and decided to check it out. It's a nice lively funky place with live music some nights a week as well as trivia. There are tables to sit but we opted to sit by the bar counter. Our server was nice, but as we interacted with her, she just seemed nice but not really interested in any deep conversation...superficially nice. Everything seemed like a canned phrase that she used to greet customers. The food was good though, we got a chicken and waffles (the waffles could had been crisper) and a Cobb salad. Not a bad place for a quick meal. They have a full bar, so I got a cocktail and my husband got a beer.

Well I was finally able to make a visit to place. They are located in Southpoint off exit 126, on a corner next to HCK Hot Chicken. Before you walk in, they have a large patio seatings with umbrellas on your left and a double sided bar. The interior WOW... I wasn't expecting how spacious and vibrant it is. The bar has high chairs all around, multiple tv monitors, very colorful murals all throughout the building. As you walk up to the counter, there's a large overhead menu if you plan for carry out and if you're dining in. your server will bring a menu to your table. I ordered 3 items: 1) Smoked Buffalo Chicken Dip 2) Grilled Beef Hot Dog 3) Smokehouse Bacon Bleu Burger. The Buffalo chicken dip arrive to the table with multiple warm pita bread which are light, crispy edges and soft interior. The dip itself was creamy, chunks of chicken and sprinkled with bleu cheese crumbles. As you prepare for your first bite, you're already anticipating and it was incredibly flavorful and deep. It is a must get item. You won't be disappointed. The bacon bleu burger stated it has two meat patties, bacon, onions, bbq sauce, bleu cheese and cheddar. It was also served with any side of your choice (tater tots) It was tasty but unfortunately the only thing I was able to taste was the bleu cheese which overpowered the rest of the ingredients. The tater tots were perfectly prepare. The outside was lightly fried and the interior was soft. Before ordering their grilled 1/4 pound beef hot dog, there are multiple topping of your choice. I select ketchup, mustard, chili, nacho cheese. When I took my first bite, it was complex, delicious and messy. I didn't mind the messy part because it was all worth it. I wasn't able to stop until it was all gone. I had impeccable service by my server Shannon R who was attentive, friendly and humorous. All staff members were friendly and knowledgeable. While you eat, there's a music video that won't disturb you and your guests. They have live entertainment on Saturdays with a band and karaoke. If you haven't made a visit yet, you're missing out. The atmosphere is relaxing, welcoming and energetic. I'll definitely make another visit to try other items on their menu.

This place has big potential. We stopped for lunch on our drive home. It's about a mile off 95. The decor is so fun! Bright colors, art, lots of music decor and photo worthy backdrops. It was so hot on our particular day, but it has a great patio. Our highlights were the chicken and waffle sandwich and regular tots, so good. The waffle themselves were 4.5-5 stars. The grilled cheese taco with grilled chicken was just okay. I got the honey chipotle sauce. On the side, I chose sweet potato tots. These could have used more crunch and some salt. The sauce with it was an interesting concept, somewhat like the icing on a cinnamon roll, but it didn't quite work for me. My husband got the brisket sandwich and we probably should have read it more closely. It was much closer to a patty melt in flavor with buttery toast, melted cheese and creamy slaw. I think he was expecting a more meat forward sandwich. I think it was a 4 star sandwich, but he wouldn't order again. The server was super friendly. We saw only cute, bubbly female staff.

The Beef brisket bomber was pretty good but the Tot-Cho's were bland and the beef was unseasoned. We found pet hair in the Tot-Cho's

We love this spot. Their food slaps. Their service, vibe and people are fun and down to earth. They're expensive but it's kind of worth it. They also fought back on government being overbearing when COVID hit and the community backed them hard. I love their spirit. Try the Honey Old Bay tots!

(Updated rating) Good and unique comfort food, Good & attentive service, and great ambiance with very nice art and posters. We dined in and I had the funnel cakes fries 10$ (with chocolate and strawberry sauce), the southern cookout melt (with regular tots) 14$, the chicken and waffle sandwich (with old bay tots) 13$, and tried 2 wings (1 bbq & 1 tipsy Thai). The funnel cakes fries were a pretty good appetizer and tasted good with both chocolate and strawberry dips/sauces. The southern cookout melt was solid but the Mac n cheese was pretty disappointing (dry) and there could've been a bit more boq sauce and pork but it was still solid. The chicken and waffle sandwich was easily my favorite and tasted very good. The tots were pretty solid and the sauce that came with it complimented them very well but l'd definitely say the old bay tots were the better choice. The tipsy Thai and bbq wings were decent but l'd say bbq was the better of the two. All in all, this place was pretty good and I would definitely recommend it.

Pretty disgusting feathers still on multiple wings

I ordered the smoked wings and was shocked to see rather large chicken feathers on multiple wings. I don't understand why they would leave the feathers on and serve it. The feathers were too large to miss and one wing was sitting right on top as soon as I opened the box.

Oh let me tell you about Gourmeltz! Literally stop everything that you're doing, pick up your keys, get in your car, open your maps and type Gourmeltz, turn your car on, press play on your favorite 90's playlist and Go! The Food is made fresh to order! The quality of the food is exquisite! The beverage options are great and they even have a Do it yourself tap bar! You literally couldn't ask for a better restaurant! They also have an outdoor patio are! My waitress was so helpful and kind!

Last minute stop on the way back home, my son said he wanted a sandwich for dinner and this place popped up down the street from our hotel. We were in for a treat. We walked in during karaoke! I forgot to get a picture of the menu but they had some funky options. I Love that they had a full non meat menu! I got the chik'n and waffle sandwich and some sweet potato tater tots. That sandwich was GREAT! And the tater tots were crispy and hot and yummy. It also had a full bar attached with self pour beer and LOT of places to sit. The service was great and I enjoyed the karaoke with my meal. Very funky place.

Seated quickly and server was there in under one minute and gave us a bottomless pot of coffee and brought Splenda (which is not on table.). My wife ordered avocado tacos and said they were excellent. Her grits were excellent! My food however was not great. Ordered beef hash and eggs. I really wanted corned beef hash but not on menu. Beef chunks, what few there were, were actually cold as in right out of refrigerator cold while all the other ingredients were just right so it's like they tossed them in at last minute with no time to warm up! Overall it was very heavily seasoned and after a few bites I lost my appetite. Way too salty too. Again the grits I ordered on side were excellent. I took 3/4 of my meal home to try to eat later and perhaps add some corned beef hash to but haven't had the desire to finish yet after two days so likely I won't eat it. Something about the seasoning and overly salted that didn't sit well with me. Overall this is a very pleasant upscale restaurant but there are zero bargains on menu ($54 with tip for 2 people for breakfast = very high IMHO.) Music was a bit loud as we were almost directly under and between two speakers. Could just be me but I can't see any need for high volume music in such a nice restaurant. Perhaps when it's busy it helps with the overall din? Checkout was super easy with QR code but I dislike the 18% low end suggested gratuity. Let me decide. I know there is a customized tip capability but 15 vs 20 should suffice. Less for poor service which I doubt you will get at First Watch. However I cannot ever recall in my 76 years tipping any server more than 20%. Overall the food selection is fairly non-traditional and limited. 1 pancake is $9. Seriously WHO orders just one pancake? If one goes to Cracker Barrel you can get 3 pancakes, a meat and two eggs for a buck more. And delicious. This place is definitely more upscale but honestly it's about the food, right? I prefer good tasting food vs upscale so likely we won't return (but man those yellow grits with a big scoop of butter on top were delicious - better than Cracker Barrel for sure!). If I should ever return I'm ordering two sides of grits (or a big bowl) and that's it! Out for under $8 + coffee. Not sure how this chain will survive but if I were the operations manager I'd find a few menu items to sprinkle in that appeal to us tightwads, with hope some will order the higher priced offerings. A very basic pancakes, eggs and meat for ~$10 would get my attention. Almost all their menu items were in the $14-16 range which is like dining in the big city. Too much for Fredericksburg I'm afraid. It's not that we can't afford First Watch, it's that First Watch's (2 of them) are out of their element here. I wish 'em luck but fear, like the past tenants in that building, they won't make it unless they can find a menu that packs people in 7 days a week. There were probably only 4 tables occupied during our Tuesday at 11am visit. My father owned/managed several restaurants growing up and he always said you can put a restaurant in a barn in a cornfield 20 miles from no where but if the food is excellent and price is fair the public will beat a path to your door every day! He was right.

For a steakhouse, the prices are relatively reasonable but by nature it is a bit more expensive than average. The service has been consistently excellent and the staff are friendly. There is a nice bar and some seating in the bar area as well. In the cooler weather the bar area seating enjoys a well placed fireplace. I recommend the double black diamond martini. The steaks, chicken and salmon dishes I have had I enjoyed. I think the NY strip is my favorite and I like to get the port mushrooms and a baked potato as the sides. I tried the Tomahawk pork chop recently and it was delicious and a generous amount of food. Most steak places also know how to properly cook fish and the Salmon is always very good here. The three course meal deal is a good value if you are hungry and the dessert is a full size. Steak tacos were delicious (see pic). Menu said they had steak, cheesy scrambled eggs, tomato salsa, breakfast potatoes and cilantro. I didn't see or taste any potatoes, but the tacos were still delicious! I'd only recommend draining the salsa through a sieve because of the excess juice affecting the integrity of the tortilla. My husband's frittata was awful. The eggs were dry; he compared them to "eggs at the bottom of the warming tray at a cheap breakfast buffet." The chef also served a side salad alongside. My husband asked about subbing potatoes and Ms. Lashone made it happen. She was the star of our brunch: drinks were delicious, the conversational quips were quick and funny. She was attentive without being intrusive and made sure we felt welcomed and taken care of. 5 stars for her and my food; 1 for the frittata. I don't want to average it and tank the rating.
