Lovely corner spot with terrific Spanish products an food. Friendly wait persons. We had the half sandwich/bowl of soup combination. We also had two copper mugs of their amazing home made ginger bear.....yumm! The sandwich was scrumptious! The gazpacho was the best I've had anywhere, including Spain. We highly recommend this place

Great place! Friendly service and amazing food. We came twice in two days!!! The breakfast bagel is the best I've ever had

This is a great place! The coffee is wonderful and they have fab food. I've liked everything here. A Mexican breakfast is sometimes too much. Looking for toast and jam-try it here. Perfect home-made, med thick Victorian white toast with home made jam. Have had nothing like it in the states. Simple, delicious. All the food is exceptional. The quiche with salad was a perfect blend of smooth/creamy and crispy greens. Nice inside too. I'm working my way thru menu.

We had an impromptu brunch here on our last day in Oaxaca. Had no expectations, and all walked out thinking 'BEST BRUNCH OF OUR LIVES'. We ordered: breakfast bagel, granola bowl, brunch burg, huevos verdes malvados (YOU MUST ORDER THIS). Great prices, and even better portions. Check out our receipt for price reference.

Fantastic 'NYC-esque' deli with homemade bagels, sausage, in-house cured charcuterie, sandwiches & cookies. Oaxacan Nano brewery is attached next door. Separate brunch menu featuring Chilaquiles.

It's unexpected to find a restaurant serving a Ruben sandwich in Oaxaca, but there it is. The Gourmand is an attractive space close to the Alcala serving Mexican variations of American delicatessen food along with Mexican favorites. Take their Ruben sandwich: it came with all the proper ingredients, except it wasn't on rye bread, but a grainy dark bread. And I swear I caught a taste of a mole. Try the gazpacho: they'll bring a bowl of tomato broth with chopped vegetables, croutons, and egg on the side for you to add. The eggs Benedict are an absolute brunch favorite. Of the various drinks, I thoroughly enjoyed the homemade ginger beer. Service is a tad clumsy and it's a bit overpriced, but I shall be back.

Chilaquiles verdes con pollo y huevo frito! Green sauce chilaquiles, with chicken and a fried egg!!

Omg! The BEST BRUNCH I'VE EVER HAD! I can't get over how amazing the food is!! We will be back here everyday until we leave the city.

Casual deli in OAxaca: good breakfasts, lunch, coffee and even craft brews. Great cappuccino, Rueben sandwich: Americanos rejoice : they even have bagels!

When we arrived, they had our reservation at the place was so nice. They even had live music at one point but not loud very nice music. They had a great selection of drinks and wine so you couldn't go wrong there. We got a variety of plates. I got the steak which was phenomenal. It literally was like butter. My aunt got the mole and I have to say that was delicious. We also actually started with a beat and goat fluff cheese, which was amazing. Definitely must have. We also got a shrimp taco, which was phenomenal. For a drink I got a carajillo which is one of my favorite things to drink when I'm in Mexico. Overall, great experience here everything was beautiful and great presentation and very well served. Definitely booked this restaurant when you are in the city.

I also must say that the waitresses were rathet grumpy, looked tired and acted annoyed so I could not speak well of the customer service. For there reasons I had to keep it at two stars although I do appreciate that it was a healthier alternative to other restaurants nearby. I ordered the Chile Relleno de Picadillo de Championes (stuffed pepper with minced mushrooms) however there was no dried cranberries or almonds like the menu promised. I also didn't notice any mango curry sauce either. The brown rice it came with was mushy and too salty on top and the "serving of vegetables" was soo small. Just not worth the 130 pesos for such a small stuffed pepper that looked nothing like the picture on some of the other reviews which I am starting to wonder might be fake. My partner ordered the sopa de cacahuate for 40 pesos and the Chile relleno de Platano Macho which came with rice and beans for 80 pesos. As you can tell from the picture, they used the smallest pepper possible and being that plantains, beans and rice are so cheap I don't know how they can justify 80 pesos. We liked the baked tortilla chips (which was a much healthier option than fried tortilla chips) and the four small slices of chewy sourdough bread but did not like the sauce at all which my partner also wasn't a big fan of. The peanut soup was good and I enjoyed the peanuts with the peas ... it was unique and the process for that was actually more reasonable at 50 pesos. It could have used more spices however!! The waitresses looked so miserable and seemed annoyed at the customers ... the food actually tastes better if you ignore them. There are many vegetarian options in Oaxaca so I would recommend going somewhere else!

Upon arriving I asked to be seated on the rooftop which they obliged with no issue. The upstairs ambiance is upscale without being stuffy. They played contemporary music but it wasn't too loud. The drinks menu is interesting and there are a lot of creative options for cocktails. I ordered a drink called the GOAT margaritas and it was STRONG but balanced. Cocktails run around $180-230 pesos. The main menus are 6 and 9 course tastings but they also have somewhat reasonably priced a la carte bar snacks. I debated ordering something but didn't want to spoil my appetite which was already happening as they brought out complimentary chips and (excellent) salsa with my drink. Service was a tad on the slow side but I wasn't in a hurry. Would absolutely return!

(They also offer a bar menu with snacks and drinks on their rooftop if you're not up for a whole tasting menu situation.) We did the nine-course menu, and we couldn't resist adding on the drink pairing. I can usually pass on a drink pairing, since they can be really expensive and I feel pressure to keep up. But El Destilado's drink pairing was too varied and unique to pass up! Each of our nine courses came with very different beverages - two cocktails, two glasses of wine (the wines were great natural wines, but I kind of wished they offered Mexican wines; I think there are some really incredible natural Mexican wines being made now!), one craft beer (brewed in Mexico), one sake (brewed in Mexico, the first Mexican sake company), one pulque (made in house; it was fantastic), and one port (with dessert). (I think I'm missing one! I believe there were 9 - one for each course. Maybe the last one is the little bottles of mezcal they gave us with the little dessert snacks as our last course?!) I often worry that the portions of a tasting menu will be too large, and I won't be able to enjoy the meal. But I really enjoyed El Destilado's portion sizes and progression. Our first course was a plate of three small snacks (tiny versions of Oaxacan dishes), and many other courses were very light (a tomato/vegetarian dish, a single ravioli in a bowl, a raw fish course, a cooked fish course, a shared main)... It was a smart way to serve a lot of great dishes without your guests filling up too fast! I think my favorites were the quail main, the foie course, the seafood courses, and the snack course! Overall, the food was all really good - modern takes on Oaxacan dishes and flavors. Fun and beautiful without losing focus on the flavor. The service was top notch (felt so welcome and comfortable and our server went out of her way to explain every course and beverage pairing) to us while still giving us time to enjoy. They can do service in Spanish or in English. The restaurant is beautiful and yet still understated for a tasting menu restaurant. It's on the pricey side. But it was my favorite of the pricey side meals we had. It was interesting and delicious and exciting, and I'd absolutely return to eat there again.

They have a little juice bar, a small restaurant with vegan and vegetarian options, a grocery section with health/ nutritional items, and a fridge behind the checkout that has really great soy, setan, and amaranth meat alternatives. The best part about trigo verde is it's very affordable!! I found some of their nutritional items (ex. Nutritional yeast) to be pricer then other naturalistas in the area. Their fresh food, however, is very affordable. I come just for their fridge of fresh food items. The hummus and the steak looking fake meat are delicious! Also try the amaranth burger! I hear that on Monday they have comida corrida all vegan (meatless Monday special cheap menu) but I haven't confirmed this yet. Everyone who works here is friendly and knowledgeable. They seem like they actually want to help you and they really care about health, which i haven't seen in the naturalistas I've visited. Also, there is a manager who is sometimes here who speaks perfect English... always a plus. He told me that this is a family business, another plus! The only reason I took off a star was I had a salad here once and it was very bland and boring. It had pasta, garbanzo beans, and somewhat stale lettuce. Next time I'll just have a tostada or an amaranth burger Thanks trigo verde family for bringing these options to Oaxaca and making veganism more accessible!
