Wow great food & service! We've been here for 3 days in el Centro trying all the authentic traditional food Oaxaca has to offer. When my family suggested switching it up going Italian & pizza I was apprehensive. So we found El sol y la Luna and our server Jorge was so attentive and gave us great recommendations. We started with French fries that were homemade felt like home with 4 sauces. We tried two empanadas that Jorge recommended and they were full of flavor and must try cheesy fresh deliciousness. We order two pizza's pepperoni & bolognese with a lasagna for our family of 4. The cheese the sauce so light yet full of flavor we ate it all. My kids ordered the Nutella crepe for dessert and it was so authentic warm gooey Nutella goodness. Had a bottle of wine to pair with the meal it was perfect. Great food amazing service one of my favorite meals in Oaxaca. Thank you Jorge for a great dining experience. read more

I cannot say enough good about this restaurant. A lovely young couple from Oaxaca operated. In addition to having outstanding food at reasonable prices, they have an art exhibition regularly. The art has always been fantastic. That alone is reason enough to go there. Every Friday and Saturday night there is live music, and sometimes on other nights of the week as well. Each of the owners has his/her own band. La banda del SUR and Paulina Ias Buscapié The music each week varies widely. Everything from jazz, to rock 'n' roll to traditional Oaxacan, and or Mexican music. The hamburgers are enormous and delicious. The salads are incredible. Dropped by for dinner one evening between Christmas and New Years, when the crowds in Oaxaca were surging. Clearly the staff were stretched to provide attentive service but they were all smiles and the food was really good. The empanadas on the menu were tempting but we opted for pizza and the house wine and were not disappointed. read more

Las setas, que normalmente me encantan, por un lado creo que me pusieron los tallos duros y por otro a lo mejor los hirvieron con la pasta, porqué sabían un poco mejor que hule. Se supone que traía jitomate y albahaca. El jitomate cabría en una cuchara de café y la hierba que le hubiera dado sabor al plato, brilló por su ausencia. 2. Empanada de poblano. No estaba mal. 3. Empanada de carne. Creo que lo mejor era el chimichurri que la acompañaba. 4. Filete Sol y Luna. Bien hecho y sabroso. Hands down to this amazing place. First of all the place is cute, cozy and smells amazing!!! We sat in the back open patio which is very cute and has a romantic lighting set. I ordered a pasta with Chile and to my surprise it was very hot, I asked the waiter if they could put a little extra sauce so that I could finish it but instead the cook came out apologize and informed me she would make me a whole new pasta. Needless to say the pasta was amazing (olive oil, garlic and Chile pasta). We also had the empanadas de calabaza, wine, coffee, tea and the cajeta crapes with ice cream. The ice cream is a must!!!!!! The staff at this place is very attentive and the food is made right when you order it so be a little patient (so worth it) have a drink while you wait :) read more

Newly remodeled, best place in Oaxaca to listen to cool music, have amazing food and great drinks! Pizzas are individual sized and delicious, the black bean one is a must try! The lasagnas are great too. Try their seasonal drinks (I had the guava-ginger and it was awesome). Keep in mind this is a place to hang out and chill, so take your time, relax, and enjoy! Came here for burgers and a pizza. Needed an intermission break from Tlayudas and mole, until tomorrow's Mercado. The service here was great, although we tried using our card and had to pay cash since scanner wasn't working. However, I don't think we'll be returning. The pizza and burger was lackluster. Fresh ingredients like arugula for burger lettuce, but nothing to write home about. For a second we thought of having a burger from a street cart. Those are usually very juicy and packed with more flavor. They have the right idea, but some memorable ingredient is missing...Chipotle mayo with sesame seeds, perhaps? read more

Great pizza! I've tried other pizza places in Oaxaca, but this one is the best so far. They're smaller sized, with excellent crunchy crust and tasty cheese, plus the toppings are fresh and come in good combinations. Service is okay. As another reviewer said, the server doesn't seem to be terribly interested in being friendly, but the cook greeted me upon arrival and I felt welcome. The atmosphere is cozy with candlelight and upbeat--but not intrusive--music. I'll come back and try more! read more

By far one of my favorite restaurants on Oaxaca! If you're looking to have a relaxed night out with friends or your significant other this is the place to go. The atmosphere is so calm and relaxed with their tasty music and dim lighting. The food - you must try the bolognese lasagna and any of the pizzas paired with their house wine. read more

I dined here twice, and the food was quite acceptable but not outstanding. The service on my second visit was abysmal. My companion and I were the only customers present and the waitress behaved as if she wished we weren't there either. Maybe just an off night. I'd still say that i you should give it a try.
