The best $6 I spent on food in New York so far! I came in 11am on a Saturday and they have a lunch special deal daily for two slices and a soda. I normally don't like pizza crust but their dough is cooked deliciously in and out. The amount of cheese and sauce was perfect. Service was very quick the staff is swift. You have the option to sit down too. Inside had a no frills vibe. I just took mine to go so I can be a couch potato for the day. read more

These guys are chill as a cucumber. They offer a fair amount of pizza options at any given time, and they're open later than many of their neighbors which can come in handy. The amount of seating is sufficient for a slower day. read more

Great lunch deal! $5 for 2 slices and a soda. Sign us up! You get what you pay for here. Basic pizza. Decent size for the cost but nothing special but it suited our need (a quick bite before we hoped in line for a music festival.) Only problem- we used the bathroom before we left. No running water or soap. Then the trash barrel was placed in front of the bathroom. We moved it to get in. Upon leaving we were blocked in by the barrel. The cook helped us, moving the barrel with his bare hands then touched a huge pile of dough he was working on! (Yuck!) read more

One of the worst experiences of my pizza eating history. While the pizza was mediocre to begin with , I asked for another slice with mushrooms. The guy just put few mushroom on top of a regular slice and not even three pieces of cheese . When I commented on it , he just shrugged it off. Never going back there again. read more

Neighborhood slice Thought I would swing by since this place is close to my place. Grabbed two slices, one mushroom and one olive. They used fresh mushrooms! The slices were decent. While not my favorite on the Upper East Side, the pizza here is pretty good. I had a slice of the Margherita pizza and an order of the garlic knots. They did not provide any sauce with the garlic knots. The pizza was good, but the garlic knots were just okay. They were on the small side and kind of hard. I don't think they were fresh. They accept cards here. read more

Disgusting. Schifoso. The margherita stinks of garlic. No basil. I phoned and the man who answered said he made the sauce and he puts garlic in it and if I don't like it, I can order somewhere else. Rude on top of bad food. I've eaten pizza in Naples, in Rome, in Sicily and here in New York at great places. I worked in a pizza place. We made great pizza and they were polite. read more

I worked on this side of the city for 2 years and while I was here this was my favorite pizza spot. I would always get my buffalo chicken slice with a fruit punch. Pizza has a great crust and very flavorful. If you are on the hooded east side check out Gotham Pizza it will be worth the stop. read more

This place used to be decent. Now the cheese pizza is burnt every time I order it and barely has any cheese. The crust is very thin so with next to no cheese it's not filling at all. The garlic knots are tiny and do not come with marinara. Salads come with packets of Ken's dressing (gross). There are better places. Avoid. read more

I just happened to stop in to see if its pizza was better than what I've been getting since the pandemic closed so many of the other takeout/delivery joints around me, and got a regular slice. I'm nearing 70yo, living in Manhattan and I've just eaten the most delicately crispy, thin crust pizza I have ever had in my life. IN MY LIFE!!! Obviously I will have to return and see if this time was just happenstance and not a reliable experience... but I am optimistic. I will update when I follow up. read more

I was totally dismayed when I walked into Gotham Pizza and spoke to one of the workers today. I had picked up a pie the other day and a side salad. When I got home, I opened the pizza box and there was a huge cockroach sitting in the corner of the box. I called Gotham Pizza and the same gentlemen I saw today, he said he would issue me a credit the next time I called to pick up a pizza which I thought was fair. I go there often. When I stopped by this afternoon., the head employee, (the same person I spoke to on the phone the other night), said something about issuing me a $5.00 credit or 10% of the cost of a pizza the next time I ordered. This was totally different from what he originally promised and now says a replacement pie is out if the question and I should have walked back with the pizza and the cockroach. read more

I go to Gotham quite often, mainly out of convenience, but also because the slices, especially the Grandma, are quite delicious. They seem to use high quality ingredients. I always take out, as it is not exactly an upscale dining experience, to say the least; the place is a hole in the wall. The reason I give it 3 stars is that they are very unsanitary. The main guy there, don't know his name, has on several occasions taken my money, cash, then proceeded to turn around and start kneading the dough. On another occasion I saw flies on the pizza that was sitting out in the open behind the glass. Last week, the young pizza-maker wiped his brow, bare hand, then.... you guessed it, starting kneading the dough. They do have a sink nearby, but I have never seen them use it before sticking their hands in the dough. They probably feel the high temps of the oven will take of anything that's not supposed to be in there, so to speak. I've more recently gone to Delizia, as they do have a much nicer setup, and a dedicated pizza guy. It's just a bit out of my way, but I think worth it for peace of mind. I think a high-quality competitor could easily do very well north of 76th street on the East side. Gotham is not clean, unfortunately. read more

This place gets 4 stars from me almost solely because they make a really good buffalo chicken pizza. It's so rare to find good buffalo chicken pizza in the city and especially on the UES - every now and then when I'm in the mood for it, I go out of my way to place an order from Gotham for that reason alone. The rest of the slices are also good and their crust is crispy and has a really nice seasoning on it. All in all, you could do a LOT worse for pizza in the area. Prices are definitely on the high side though so it loses a star for that. A regular 16" buffalo chicken pizza is $30 or more which is definitely higher than it needs to be even though the pizza itself is really good. read more
