Among my…read morefriends are some serious cyclists, so I've made many a trip up to Glen Swan's with them, and they absolutely swear by his work. They're road bikers and they buy parts, gear and clothing, and occasionally place orders with him (I'm pretty sure Glen does the whole spectrum of bikes, though). Glen does the repairs they don't know how to do - serious stuff, as Jennifer said. Glen also sells whole bikes in addition to parts at whoppingly awesome prices. He and his wife (and their two dogs) are extremely friendly, and Glen is extremely helpful to his customers as they make decisions or ask for recommendations. Also, Glen barely marks up his stuff, so if you're willing to make the trip up to his house (the drive is gorgeous), his prices are worth it. He prefers cash and is open from 5:30-8:30pm Monday-Thursday these days.

Talking on the phone for 5 mintues I explained my problem and the age of the bike (an old racing by from the 1970's). When I told the man on the phone the age and style of the bike, he said "Oh, that means it uses [some different mechanism to shift than newer bikes]. I was told to try tightening a small pin up by the gear lever. Lo-and-behold, my bike is fixed! I am seriously impressed by Swan Cycles' knowledge and customer service (he waited while I flipped my bike upside-down to pedal and change gears). I would highly recommend Swan Cycles to anyone wanting great customer service from a knowledgable team.

Old Goat Gear Exchange is a quaint shop right off the commons that sells new and used bikes and all the outdoor gear you could ever need! They also sell used items (for great deals) on consignment. Steve gets to know his customers, and when I walk in, he greets me by name with a smile on his face. Quarantine got you down? Old Goat still has bikes, despite the nationwide shortage. I've never felt more welcome at a local bike shop than at Old Goat Gear Exchange and will continue to bring my bikes in for service. I will likely purchase some other doodads to support a great resource in our community.

Dale provided amazing customer service at Syracuse Bicycle in December when I purchased the…read moreCannondale mountain bike, when I picked it up in February and when I went in to get accessories and to check the way I was fitting the bike with how I was riding. The price was much more reasonable buying it in December and I believe I received great value in this bicycle! I have been riding the trails, on my college campus and around the neighborhood with no problems. Today Dale helped me be prepared for the expected tire blowout with tools and a spare tube to change it with. Also, I purchased a very low profile bag for under the seat to help keep the these live savers on the trail. Finally, Dale showed me the different lubricants to use on the chain. I purchased the oil and he gave me a little instruction on how to best apply it. Knowledgeable people with great customer service is a combination that I appreciate from Dale and Syracuse Bicycle!
