It's more of a bike shop people like to stop in to say hi because of good experiences. He's been helpful getting the exact price point and quality. Don't be fooled by the size and selection. They have affordable options available and also some really super high end products. Some really amazing bikes and service. I definitely recommend stopping in and getting set up with a new ride. They have plenty of E-bikes to get up those Ithaca/Cornell hill.

Old Goat Gear Exchange is a quaint shop right off the commons that sells new and used bikes and all the outdoor gear you could ever need! They also sell used items (for great deals) on consignment. Steve gets to know his customers, and when I walk in, he greets me by name with a smile on his face. Quarantine got you down? Old Goat still has bikes, despite the nationwide shortage. I've never felt more welcome at a local bike shop than at Old Goat Gear Exchange and will continue to bring my bikes in for service. I will likely purchase some other doodads to support a great resource in our community.

I've bought snowboots (used), gaiter (used), ski poles (used), and other things here. Reasonably priced! I love it! When you fail finding gears you need at ReUse Center, this is the place to check. If you really need new stuff, you can also check the outdoor store on Commons .. keep your money working for the local economy!

Among my…read morefriends are some serious cyclists, so I've made many a trip up to Glen Swan's with them, and they absolutely swear by his work. They're road bikers and they buy parts, gear and clothing, and occasionally place orders with him (I'm pretty sure Glen does the whole spectrum of bikes, though). Glen does the repairs they don't know how to do - serious stuff, as Jennifer said. Glen also sells whole bikes in addition to parts at whoppingly awesome prices. He and his wife (and their two dogs) are extremely friendly, and Glen is extremely helpful to his customers as they make decisions or ask for recommendations. Also, Glen barely marks up his stuff, so if you're willing to make the trip up to his house (the drive is gorgeous), his prices are worth it. He prefers cash and is open from 5:30-8:30pm Monday-Thursday these days.

I called Swan Cycles on a Thursday afternoon because my bike wouldn't stay in gear. I needed my…read morebike for an even Saturday, but Swan Cycles is only open Monday-Thursday (until 8:30PM). Talking on the phone for 5 mintues I explained my problem and the age of the bike (an old racing by from the 1970's). When I told the man on the phone the age and style of the bike, he said "Oh, that means it uses [some different mechanism to shift than newer bikes]. I was told to try tightening a small pin up by the gear lever. Lo-and-behold, my bike is fixed! I am seriously impressed by Swan Cycles' knowledge and customer service (he waited while I flipped my bike upside-down to pedal and change gears). I would highly recommend Swan Cycles to anyone wanting great customer service from a knowledgable team.

My mother was verbally assaulted by an employee today. She went to the wrong parking lot when…read moretrying to donate, she was confused by the cones and signage so she thought she'd just park and walk over with the box. Before she even got the box out of the car an older white man, red faced, screamed at the top of his lungs "you can wait in line like everybody else". She got back in the car because she was so scared by him. She reparked and went inside to tell the manager because it was so upsetting. The mam followed her inside and stood next to her leaned forward and intimidating while she politely explained what happened to the manager. Then she left without donating. She came home shaking and crying. I'm furious that this happened and want the employee fired. He was a 65ish white male, blue shirt, blue shorts, working at the donations. This man is out of hand and needs to be addressed.

That was unexpected. When I purchased this ice cream, they did not accept cash. Strange- are there a lot of robberies in Ithaca? I would much rather pay for my goods in cash. The store is kept clean and they have tables and chairs set up for working, having a coffee, and reading. They have a wide selection of books across age ranges and genres, as well as stickers, bookmarks, and snacks, candles, and jewelry (and more) from local vendors. The owners, Sam and Amber, are wonderful humans. Parking was plentiful both times I was there. Highly recommend a visit here if you're in the area, and I'll definitely be back the next time I find myself in Ithaca or Dryden!
