A quick google search for malls in Syracuse led me to Destiny USA which I saw literally added no time at all to our drive. And then another quick directory showed me they had a JC Penny. I was pretty sure I could get what I needed (I did)! This was a painless, easy stop for so many reasons: -lots of free parking -the mall was big but not so big that you feel like you'd get lost for days -they had a few major stores -perfectly clean All and all a great visit. In fact there's not even a Marshall's (or a Homegoods) (or even a Ross Dress For Less). Marshall Square is basically a little college mall (mini mall, indoor thankfully considering the temps around here in winter which lasts half the year), with about seven or eight different stores in here, one of which is a far inferior version of the best place in town (Strong Hearts), and another is a sandwich chain that I hate (sorry, I do), and then there's a bunch of other stuff along these lines. But overall it's a nice little mall and it's often used (by me and plenty of others) as shelter from the freezing cold in winter, but I wish all the stuff inside it was more appealing, as in, that the Strong Hearts was as good as the other one, that the sandwich shop was an indie place or at least a Potbelly or something, and so on. And more options. They decorated it in college colours (orange of course), which is cool, and they even have a college-owned gym in here, so it's better than I'm making it out to be. I stumbled upon this Erie Canal center here in Syracuse, New York. I was headed toward the…read moreabandoned mall next door, but the Uber driver told me this was a better one. And so, on a rainy October 2026, Thursday morning, I went from my Airbnb to this commercial hub of Syracuse, New York. I started my day here at the best buy, but did not buy anything. Just browsing for the most part since I was traveling and did not want to buy any thing that would be a burden in my luggage. As the day progressed, I walked around and saw that there was a Starbucks and a Jimmy John's nearby. The day was raining on and off, so I decided to stay put. I stayed about three hours in Starbucks, and just wrote reviews on Yelp and surfed the web to Starbucks Wi-Fi. After 3 PM that day, they informed me that they were closing due to staff shortage. And so I went to Jimmy John's and bought dinner before I headed out back to my Airbnb for the night. During that time, this place is a cute little commercial center that was nice how to spend the day in Syracuse. While they did not have as much as I thought it would, like a regular mall, it has its nice points as well as its limitations as far as what it has on the property. At least they had Starbucks so that I could hang out and just have a Frappuccino while I was there. For the most part, though, I enjoyed coming here despite the fact that it was a rainy afternoon. For a rainy Friday in Syracuse, I was here living like a local Syracuse resident hanging out at a Starbucks and looking around Eerie Canal Center. The overall experience here at the Erie Canal Centre in Syracuse, NY was nice and pleasant. Majority of the center is basically non restaurant, while with Starbucks, there's always a place to just chill and be yourself. There are some benches for people to sit down, but not much. It is an open air. commercial center and definitely something to look at while you're shopping here, but don't expect much while shopping here or even walk around the property, I ended up walking around before sitting at the Starbucks for about 30 minutes. Best Buy, Michael's, Dick's Sporting Goods, and Starbucks are the anchors to this property. I even walked around Dick's sporting goods for 45 minutes to see if there was any products that I could purchase, but I did not find anything. Thankful for restroom facilities in Dick's sporting goods though. And so, if you will it find anything else to do on a rainy day in Syracuse, New York, consider coming to this stretch of paradise because it just may save you a lot of time driving around town and just having that downtime would be of service to you here at this shopping and business plaza. Erie Canal commercial center is located in east Syracuse, New York. The property is physically located at 3469 Erie Boulevard E in Dewitt. All merchants accept major credit cards as well As cash. As far as parking goes, they have a generous amount of parking available here. Park as close or as far out in the parking lot. It would be good. I'm not familiar with the public transportation system here in Syracuse, but there is one that would take you here if you are patient enough to wait for it. As for me though, I ended up here via Uber and left the area with Uber as well. While my time in Syracuse was brief, it was nice to live like a resident for a day by hanging out here instead of doing other things. While the weather that day was rainy, it was a good one to come here and enjoy what we have. If you need Best Buy, Starbucks, Dicks Sporting Goods, or any other merchants in the Eerie Canal Center, consider coming out here for your next adventure. Or just a quiet afternoon after work. I can't say that about any of the Target's in Brooklyn. The best Upstate Target has to be the Fairmount location. Love its sparkly clean interior and I've never had trouble finding anything - I'm always popping in to stock up on essentials when I'm visiting upstate.* My dad always asks "isn't there a Target, like, 3 blocks from your apartment Brooklyn!?" well, yes Dad, there is... and while its probably the best in BK... nothing beats an upstate Target, particularly the Fairmount location. *Upstate Targets are always a couple dollars cheaper too.

It's very conveniently located and it has a Centro bus stop. It's great, but the only thing is if you need a bench to sit on in between stores, there are no benches at all to be found. There are concrete tree planters that you can sit on, but they are very uncomfortable. Also crime is an issue here as many troublemakers hang around the parking lot. Be cautious if you are shopping here alone.
