My husband said back in the day when he was younger, this joint used to be called Carousel Mall. It was a happenin joint. And that they have one of the prettiest carousels here. While visiting Liverpool, we made a stop here to see it. And to see what else this mall offers. This mall is half open and half closed. You'll find your major retail stores here of course. There are a lot of comic book/novelty stores here which is cool. It is a really big mall and you can tell they are struggling to fill the empty stores. It is quite nice that they have Hobby Lobby here. Dicks and Burlington, it's a one stop shop. I will have to say, they do have a dope food court. They also have a seafood boil restaurant and a Japanese steakhouse. I wish I would have known sooner about both restaurants, I would have love to eaten there. I tried to snag a mochi donut but they were completely out. Total bummer. After checking out a couple stores, we did make our way to the carousel. The carousel is so pretty. I love the detail and the passion that was used to make this magical machine. The colors, the flowers, the cherubs, it's all perfection. I appreciate the detailing of the reigns on each horse, the flowers decorating them and the craftsmanship. The carousel is completely stunning. And I'm happy I got to see it. It would have been that much sweeter if I could have ridden the carousel but it was closed. The mall itself is your typical mall. I'm sure you'll find what you need. The food court does look legit so if I lived here, I would eat here often. I am happy I got to see the beautiful carousel. It is a work of art and the story behind it makes it that much more amazing. read more

My first time at this mall, we stopped by when we were in the area because it was a rainy day. It was huge and had everything you could think of. I didn't hit every area but from what I could see it was well planned out and offered tons of bigger stores and also had areas for kiosks so customers could also learn about newer brands and products. It was super busy which isn't always the case nowadays for a mall which is impressive. There was a huge section for entertainment which was a comedy club, ropes course, bowling alley, arcades, laser tag and more. The only issue I had was because this place was 4 floors of shopping they needed to have a better directory. The one they had was kind of hard to understand and follow. If you are under 18 you will need an adult to be with you at certain times, this weekend this was being enforced. read more

Its been well over a decade, since I've visited this mall, honestly the last time I was at this mall it was the Carousel Mall. Decide to stop in, with some extra time to spare from a day long road trip. Nice, large scale mall. that made you feel safe with number of security guards, selection of entertainment, restaurants and stores. Not being too big of a mall shopper, just found some yummy snacks at Macy's along with a photo frame at a soon to be closing AT HOME location, sometime in August. Sadly , the pandemic did do a number on malls through the US. This mall suprisingly, just the opposite, with not many anchor stores left, the littler stores, and entertainment at the mall is what keeps it thriving. The food court, with the carousel, always reminded me of a now shattered Boulevard Mall in Buffalo, NY. Worth the stop, if your in town and want to say you have been. read more

This mall is supposedly the largest mall in NYS. Having been to malls in many places, including those in Dubai, malls here tend to me alright. While we were visiting Syracuse, we decided to visit this mall, which was apparently called the Carousel Mall in the past. In most recent times, there have been incidents which resulted in them needing to amp up their security. From the looks of it, they do a great job with this. There was security anywhere and everywhere, and at all the entrances. In fact, there was a minor incident taking place while we were entering the mall. We checked out the Carousel, which was very pretty, with a very classic look, and appeared to be well maintained. We walked the mall but it appeared to be like the mall we have in our city, but only larger, but with a lot of emptier or closed locations. In this day and age though, I'm not sure how malls survive when many of us purchase a lot of our items online. In fact, I'm very guilty of this too. Their food court area was extensive and appeared to be busy and thriving. If you like malls, I'd recommend visiting this mall. If anything, this mall is better than the ones in my city. read more

Ok, I am a Syracuse native, but I left in 1995 after graduating from college. Over the years I have watched a town that was NEVER known for its culture, diversity, safety, or excitement....get even worse (I didn't think that was possible!) I should have been warned when I was last there (March of 2023) and told my cousin I wanted to see Destiny USA. Her response, along with a wince: "Are you sure?" How is something THAT big, THAT dead????!? The website says Destiny sees, "16 million visitors a year." WHOSE ASS WAS THAT NUMBER PULLED OUT OF ??!?! For comparison: I live in LA; Disneyland has 10 million a year. Disneyland. What was wrong with Carousel Center? At least people went to it. I know, online shopping killed retail but instead of trying to make Syracuse happen (a lost cause anyway) with some weird, boring, dangerous, gang-run, family fun center, Congel should just sell the property to SU for an athletic complex or housing or a parking garage with transportation to the dome or...something. I think Destiny USA is a great mall, but here are some good and bad things about.; Destiny USA's shops, and building its self are falling apart, and the mall isn't quite the safest. But thankfully the mall is becoming more, conscious, about the unsafe parts about coming to the mall, and are hopefully putting up better precautions to the safety of its visitors, and workers. And, speaking of the workers, I know they can't really control it, but the workers are most of the time bratty, and rude. But the shops that are there are great. Such shops include; Macys, Hobby Lobby, Finish-line, and other great stores. This mall has given citizens of Syracuse, Liverpool, Baldwinsville, and other towns near it, a place to have fun at the movies, or have kid birthdays in Get Air, or Wonder-Works, and really do anything, as there is still things to do. And that's why it deserves four stars. If you are traveling to Syracuse for family, or just passing by, it's worth it to stop and shop. read more

They aren't kidding when they call this place a destination. There are tons of shops, tons of restaurants, and even a movie theater and a bunch of other entertainment options, including a small indoor zoo. Tons of variety and things to do. I don't see many positive reviews from locals and I'm here to change that. This is a great mall, you can find anything you need or want. It's big enough to spend a whole day, but easy enough to navigate with the digital directories that if you just need to run in and grab something you can. There are so many places to eat, shop, and entertain yourself. There is a lot of parking, so you'll always have a place to park even when it's busy. It does tend to be really busy on the weekends, but during the week it's not so crowded, and reasonable to pop in to run an errand. There is plenty of security any time of day, it has a very lively and safe feel. read more

I am shocked the Destiny Mall is still open. Numerous stores have to use portable AC units to cool their store. The Mall in general is filthy. Even the air ducts in the newer stores are disgusting. I went to the Taco Bell in the food court yesterday because I was STARVING.. when I ordered my food everything seemed to be going just fine.. UNTIL.. my bag of food was handed to me and I got to my table and went to check my food and I was BAFFLED and APPALLED.. I was missing SEVERAL items.. I ordered 2 regular nacho fries as well as one large nacho fry.. and I was missing the large nacho fry AS WELL AS THE CHEESE FOR ALL OF THEM.. my drinks were also wrong (I ordered three Baja blasts but instead got Baja blast freezes) and they were so cold that I got a brain freeze during the whole rest of my meal (which I was missing half of) and it was VERY unpleasant. I can not believe how unprofessional and simply irresponsible the employees are.. if I could give this a zero I most CERTAINLY would.. never again. SO UNBELIEVABLE!!!! read more

I've been to the Mall of America Mn in and the American Dream in NJ ... I find Destiny USA large enough to grab my interest and has great attractions like Margaritaville escape rooms obstacle course Cheesecake Factory. The mall isn't so big you can't find your way around further more whatever type of food you desire can be had. If you like to do retail therapy then this is place walk around find what your hearts desire. Being an indoor mall gives you the benefit of escaping the elements and with ample parking you are sure to maje this a convenient stop. read more

I've come to this mall in 2017, 2018, 2019 and most recently in September of 2022 - the experience has remained great. I'm from out of town and this is by far one of the largest malls I've been to. The selection of shops, businesses and attractions here are worth the visit. Although the pandemic has forced a few stores to close, there still is a great selection. I would recommend checking out the Destiny USA website directory before coming so you really get an idea of all that's available. It can be hard otherwise to locate certain businesses if you don't plan on walking through every corner. Note that the mall no longer offers motorized scooters for rent, however they do have wheelchairs free of charge. This can be useful if you are planning on spending the whole day and are with someone with mobility issues. The mall is so large that even on a busy weekend, you don't feel too packed in - there is room to walk and lots of place to sit and rest. Having everything under one roof is just amazing - If I was local, I would come to the mall just to get a walking workout, there's lots to see and easy to get your steps in. Another great plus is the free indoor parking - keeps your car cool, or warm depending on the weather. How convenient it must be to come during the winter months, just leave your jacket in the car and shop around feeling light. Can't wait to be back! read more

You're bound to find really nice people and really rude people. The service at some stores is spot on but some stores have really crappy service. There's a huge selection of stores and restaurants. I wouldn't recommend going to the Chinese restaurants though because each time you go they are bound to give you something extremely undercooked. The clothes stores are really nice. And there's tons of different things you could do to entertain yourself. Most things don't really give you the hang for your buck. But there are also a good selection of stores with good value of their items. read more

There are better options to do your shopping in this area, and unless you are looking for a particular store that is only in Destiny, you are probably better off elsewhere. Your experience will vary based on what your particular interests are, but in general it's a hodgepodge of chains nobody should be othered with (certainly an exception is World of Beer), large retailers, high priced boutique shops, and entertainment venues. The selection might be large, but most of it doesn't feel worth it. One is probably better off with a local store elsewhere that will provide real service, and that's seems like a generalization that will continue to hold up. read more

Holy mall! In looking for something to kill time in Syracuse while we were in town, it was suggested to my cousin and I that we check out Destiny USA. I don't think I've ever been to a mall this size before. It's so huge that I don't think we even walked through a fraction of it. I could only compare it to the Galleria Mall in Buffalo (where I'm from) but so obviously juiced up with store upon store upon store. There are multiple floors, somewhere between three and three hundred (not really three hundred, that was a bad joke). If you're looking for your name brand retail shops, look no further! You'll find all the big names here. There probably isn't another place in Syracuse to find them so look forward to walking some distance and using the directory. We walked through the food court area too, which was absolutely mind blowing. The restaurants are huge. And the gaming/fun attractions like 5 Wits and kart racing courses are something to attract kids and adults alike. Overall I thought it was a cool place. We came on an off day so it wasn't busy at all, but I can only imagine what it's like here on the weekends. Just the thought gives me anxiety. I suppose if I lived in Syracuse I would know where stores are, but being from out of town the size sort of makes things a little difficult to easily access. I'm just used to smaller malls I guess. read more

I guess it is destiny that I must write a review of this mall which I know so well. I first came here with my Syracuse ex-girlfriend and have subsequently been back a couple of dozen times over the years. She turned out not to be my destiny but was ridiculously good-looking so there's that. This truly enormous shopping mall used to be the heart and soul of Syracuse but these days it looks more like a lot of other malls. Ever since it lost the name Carousel it lost a little something that made at unique. I have actually played a concert inside the mall on several occasions and the most recent one went very well. My favorite thing inside here, and I say this having been to what seems like every store and Eatery in the place, is the Kung Fu tea franchise location. Some of the best chain bubble tea you can get. Order the lemon black tea with tapioca or the honey oolong tea with tapioca. read more

Lol this mall man, its just huge. Three floors and that's just the one regular part of the mall not including "The Canyon." They've got everything here I've ever seen and way more. There are loads of stores, restaurants, and I really love the activities part of the mall with different things to do. It really is a come for everything kind of place and a neat thing to visit in the Syracuse area. Admittedly there are a load of chain stores here but like seriously, it's an American shopping mall what do you expect? Loads of parking and entrances and a large indoor parking area as well. There's so much Yelp hate towards this establishment. I just don't understand why. After yearrrrrrrs of living in the area and hearing about the expansion of Carousel Mall I was a bit surprised to find out that it actually happened. Holy crap Carousel Mall is now Destiny USA. Within the last two years I've seen the place transform and it's nice that Syracuse finally has a mall it can be proud of. Coming home it's always nice to see what's changed, what's stayed the same... stores like DSW, H&M and Pottery Barn are just where I left them in the older in-need-of-a-few-upgrades* section of the mall. But the new Canyon is pretty impressive and I kinda love the "bridge" that stretches over Hiawatha Blvd. The parking lots are fairly expansive which is nice- the main parking lot surrounding the mall has always been terrrrrrrible. However the valet parking on the other side of Hiawatha is utter nonsense. So this little trip was quite interesting. We spent the day at Destiny USA before heading the the State Fair and I really do like this mall. There's tons of shopping, activities for the kids, and plenty of selections to eat. Obviously, most of the dining options are your standard shopping mall cuisine, but there's something for everyone.
