Dale provided amazing customer service at Syracuse Bicycle in December when I purchased the Cannondale mountain bike, when I picked it up in February and when I went in to get accessories and to check the way I was fitting the bike with how I was riding. The price was much more reasonable buying it in December and I believe I received great value in this bicycle! I have been riding the trails, on my college campus and around the neighborhood with no problems. Today Dale helped me be prepared for the expected tire blowout with tools and a spare tube to change it with. Also, I purchased a very low profile bag for under the seat to help keep the these live savers on the trail. Finally, Dale showed me the different lubricants to use on the chain. I purchased the oil and he gave me a little instruction on how to best apply it. I've been at shopping at SB for many years and truly appreciate there honesty whenever I purchase products there.

My bicycle had a problem with it's front derailleur and my attempts to repair it probably (definitely) made it worse. I contacted Syracuse Bicycle and they said bring it right in and they would take a look at it. So I did, and they did! Even though they already had at least 3 bikes already on their benches, they immediately took mine in and started working on it. The found the problem, fixed it, and then re-adjusted the derailleur so it worked properly. All in 15-20 minutes while I watched. They explained the failure and sent me on my way with a $16 charge. While I waited, I overheard several interactions between Zach other customers. All were very professional and kind. Zach and his team are excellent!! I highly recommend their services. read more

I was in the store for 10 minutes and no one helped me though - thankfully I knew what I was looking for. With a store packed with people, my wait was relatively short (one of the bike mechanics saw me standing in line and dropped what he was doing to assist). Sales and service people was positive, helpful, and went out of their way to help. My purchases were relatively modest - a repair and a few accessories but the service was top notch. Two different people took the time to find stock in the back room to replace the squirrel-chewed saddle on my bike. The store is bright, well-organized and packed with bikes, apparel, and accessories. While waiting, I overheard other customers being waited on was uniformly impressed by the professionalism, knowledge, and helpfulness of the staff. Way to go SB!!! read more

Zach, Tyler, and Adam have always been quick to help with my questions and provide bicycle information, and even assisted with planning bike routes to access bike routes and trails. The Women on Wheels program was a great introduction to riding again after so many years, and the fondo, ride, and race information available online and at their store is excellent! The higher end niche shop in Syracuse, Trek, Cervelo, and now a Cannondale dealer and overall a wonderful place to shop. They helped me with a search for a new saddle and training wheels for my bicycle, and the owner Trish is often on the floor herself. The only downside is due to being a dealer for select brands they may not have everything from every brand, but are nice enough to steer you to another shop if you want something specific. read more

I ride my bike EVERYWHERE. It's my main source of transportation this summer. I wanted to see if I could do it - so I went to the mall (I know, I know) and bought an inexpensive bike. Well, this week, 10 miles from home and with an afternoon full of appointments I experienced my first flat. I was near a mall, so I went only to find out it could be a week or longer before a bike tech would be in to help me. So I went to Syracuse Bicycle (even though I was embarrassed by my mall-bike) where I was treated like their most important customer. My tire was repaired on the spot, and the guy who helped me installed a water bottle holder as well, all in about ten minutes. I will return to Syracuse Bicycle for ALL my cycling needs and I suggest you do as well! read more

I try to visit Syracuse Bike when I'm in the area. The layout of the store is great for browsing the new bikes, merchandise is well displayed, but the main reason I go is for parts and service, and I'm never disappointed. In addition, they have regular events to bring the local riding community together and also to teach people some of the basics or riding and maintenance. I think what makes it work so well is that the owners and employees are riders and so know what works and how to help. read more

Stellar!!! I recently had my road bike and fat bike serviced at Syracuse Bicycle, both were done quickly and I was treated very well. They took time to answer any questions I had. They also recognized that one of my wheels had a defective hub and had it serviced by the OEM under warranty. I would have never known it. A week or so later I came in and a person in the repair shop recognized me and asked me how my bikes were after the tune up. It was a great feeling to know that they cared about the service they provided. Also, as a woman I love the general atmosphere of the shop. Very helpful and accommodating! read more

I've been cycling for years and been to quite a few bike shops as a result. This is one of the worst I've encountered. The only real positive is that the store itself is big - huge compared to most local bike shops - so if you're experienced and know what you're looking for/at, you may be able to find things there that most places would have to order. That being said, I've never encountered a less friendly, helpful, or knowledgeable sales staff. My wife was looking for her first road bike and after looking at a few local shops around us, we decided to make the hour and 20 minute drive to syracuse to see a shop with a much larger inventory where she could try out and compare some different bikes side by side. After arriving and looking around the shop for almost 45 minutes, we finally found someone that worked there and asked for help. When the salesman did finally come over, my wife asked began asking about sizing and various brands etc. The salesman responded, and I quote, "I don't know, just find one that you like and that you think fits." Every other bike shop I have ever been to has always provided at least a rough fit (stand over bike, adjust seat) and many others even go to the trouble of measuring out the proper leg angles etc. Never have I heard of a salesman just walking up to the rack, pulling out the first bike, and saying "here, try this one" but that is exactly what happened. When I finally noticed that my wife was riding a bike at least two sizes too small and with the seat all the way down, I asked the salesman if he could at least move the seat up to a reasonable height. He finally reluctantly went in and got a multitool and moved the seat up about an inch without checking anything. But wait, it gets better. Finally we start looking at sizing and the salesman says she is a 52 (every other shop has said 54). Well what a shock - the only 52's in stock have the upgraded components and are several hundred dollars more. The bike that she liked was only in a 56 and that was obviously out of the question. After making it clear that we're not going to buy the upgraded version, the salesman says that they actually are getting more bikes in 2 days so we could come back and ride the right thing then. Before we left, I asked the salesman if he was absolutely sure she was a 52 and not a 54. He literally laughed out loud and told me that a 54 was waaay to big. A few days later, my wife calls the store and verifies that they did indeed get the bike she wants in a 52 and they are going to build it later that day. The next day, she calls back and they tell her they built it and its ready to go. Finally, Saturday rolls around, she calls to make sure the bike is there, they tell her it is, and we go back. When we get to the shop, we again waited and waited and finally had to go get a salesman. We told this new salesman that she is there to ride the 52 in the bike she was looking at. After about 20 minutes of confusion, we find out that the bike they built was a 54, not a 52 and the only 52 in stock is the one with the upgraded components. After explaining what we have already been through to this guy, he proceeds to tell us that she is DEFINITELY a 54. My wife rode it around and liked it but wanted to look around a bit. Since the first salesman was long gone, we found someone else. Surely it would be better right? Three times the charm, right? Wrong. This salesman (saleswoman actually) tells us that there is no way she is a 54 - she can tell that she is definitely a 52. She, of course, advises us to just go ahead and buy the bike with the upgraded components that we already didn't like last time. Finally my wife asked whether, if she agreed to buy a bike, they would do a proper fit and get everything set up correctly for her. We got only a strange look and were told that it would cost extra - up to $300!! Sorry for the long rant - bike shops like this just really make me mad. The majority of their customers must be first time buyers that just don't know any better because they seemed genuinely confused as to why we weren't going to buy anything. There are plenty of good bike shops out there, this is not one of them. read more

I walked into Syracuse Bicycle expecting to be intimidated because I haven't ridden a bike in 20 years. The woman who helped me at first tried to sell me on something more complicated than I needed but backed off when I repeated my needs. We did find the perfect bike. She showed me (quickly) how to pop off the front tire to put the bike in the car, but I would recommend having customers practice re-attaching the wheel once at the shop before trying it out on their own. read more

Two thumbs up. Well merchandised, knowledgeable, kind and helpful salespeople. The selection was larger and more complete than any store I could find from Albany to Rochester. My salesperson was great. She was very patient with my lack of knowledge but still somehow managed to stay excited and engaged. We spent a lot of time deciding on the ideal bike option, along with all the needed accessories (which added up way too quick). I love my bike but most impressive were the fit services I purchased. I chose to upgrade the included basic fit for their top of the line fitting service. I have to admit, the service itself was a bit pricey but it was well worth both the experience and the outcome. I can't imagine that David, the fitter (whom I believe is also a kinesiologist), all that 3D motion capture equipment and dynamic fit bike came cheap, so I imagine all of that stuff justified the cost. I would have never imagined any local shop would make an investment like that in equipment or even offer that level of service. I left impressed, comfortable and fired up about my new bike. I have trouble keeping myself out of there. It doesn't help that it is an addictive sport. read more
