I live about 20 miles from ra-lins and I had bought recently bought a new rifle (ruger pcc in 9mm) from a local gun dealer near me. He was retiring and I got a great price , Cept something was wrong with factory setup. It wouldn't hold zero at any distance. I couldn't find a local smith and A friend suggested ra-Lin. I told him I needed a gun smith not a microwave. Anyway! I brought it to Ra-Lin. Their smith, yes smith. Looked at it , showed me how to adjust the break down feature, bore sighted, it. Handed it back to me and said to try that. It was dead on. One hole all day long out to 75 yards or so. That's using a sig holo sight. Pretty good for these old eyes and a pistol caliber carbine. I have had a couple of experiences with Ra-Lin in the past year and came away very impressed both times. Over the summer I needed to get a large photo print done and Ra-Lin was recommended. After bringing me into his photo printing area, the sales guy showed me how it would come out and went through a bunch of options with me - nice! After talking to me a lot about photography and some of their other services I was on my way and convinced they had good customer service. Fast forward to this winter, and I find myself in there looking around for a sound set up for my tv. After expressing my desire for a small set up, the salesman recommended a sound bar and then took his time bringing me around to their different options and explaining the differences in each and what his recommendations were. I ended up very happy with my choice and got a great deal. They are very low pressure and price conscious here - what else can you ask for? For example, they sell electronics ( television, stereos, home theater systems, phones, GPS etc...), appliances ( ovens, washers, dryers, refrigerators, etc...), cameras and photo services, jewelry, and collectibles. Under the same roof, they have a sporting goods section devoted to firearms, archery. I understand, although I could be incorrect, that this sporting goods section is a separate business which merely rents space in Ra-Lin.There are 2 separate web sites: http://ralins.com/index.html and http://www.ralinsportinggoods.com/ My experiences involve researching and shopping for a home theater system. I have the widescreen TV but, the sound is quite deficient. I had been looking for a sound bar as a solution and my search results seemed affordable but, testing and hearing one was a challenge. Even though I thought I could spend only $300 or so, I refused to buy one without hearing and comparing different models. This is one area where Ra-Lin shines. I decided to go to Ra-Lin after shopping online and at big box stores. The advantage Ra-Lin presents is multi faceted: a very good selection, competitive pricing and knowledgeable, very helpful, patient no pressure sales people. I am not a most geeky technophile however, I know what I like. "I'm no artist but I know art when I see it" to paraphrase Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart. I digress. I got great service, was greeted pleasantly, tested and heard as many sound systems as I chose and finally made a choice on a great Boston Acoustics home theater sound system which is far superior to any sound bar I thought I wanted. I took advantage of their lay away plan which allows for 30 days but, I easily negotiated for 60 days. Each time I visited the store to make a payment, I perused their camera and photography department. We bought a top of the line GE dishwasher AND sprung extra for the extended warranty. The salesperson was very helpful and we got a great deal. Unfortunately, once it was out the door (and the commission was made) the courtesy and attention ended. I've had to sit in the kitchen and manually reset the machine after it drained between the cycles since Day One. Today it decided that it doesn't want to drain any longer. I had to use a shop vac to drain the filthy water out! I've tried to call Ra-Lin's appliance department for help many many times! Every single time, no matter what time of day I call, I'm transferred to a line that no one answers or put on hold and left there. I've sat there for up to 45 minutes before finally giving up. We thought that buying from a small local retailer meant better service. Boy were we wrong ! If I could give you zero stars I would! read more

I am a very large supporter of locally owned small businesses. I will drive 30 minutes to an hour out of my way to purchase some thing from a mom and pop before I go to a big box store. With that said I understand why more and more of these mom and pops are going the way of The dinosaur. Having purchased televisions, four or five firearms for myself in the past this was my first stop to purchase my 20 and 23-year-old sons their first firearms in their names. Doing it the right way registering in background checks in both of their names I went there with my 20-year-old son first. The owner noticed as he was doing the paperwork for background check that he was not 21. Looking like he was in a horrible mood or has not slept in weeks, he informed us that the law is 18 years but his store policy is you must be 21 years old to purchase a firearm. I have no issue with his store policy especially considering the location. The owner could have explained this policy and had a conversation with me instead of pulling the paperwork from my sons hands aggressively before saying a word about the store policy. Never seeing such behavior from an employee let alone the owner. No reason to treat customers like this. Everyone has bad days but customers that are willing to travel and spend more to support small businesses are low in numbers!!!!!! read more

I am not originally from Syracuse so finding an major appliance retailer you can trust is a huge burden off my back. I prefer to buy locally rather than through Home Depot or Lowes or even the other local guy in Syracuse. We have purchased many major appliances and TV's from them and have been very please with their prices and service in the store and deliveries. I bought my 1st new DSLR camer last week, after doing a bunch of research I got the Nikon D3300, in less then an hour of getting home I knew I wanted something in the D5000 line. I took it back Lou exchanged without a question, we talked about the various features of the D5200, D5300 and D5500, I decided the D5500 was what I wanted. I bought with out price shopping to make sure I was getting a good deal. When I got home I went on Line to price shop the camera, most of the shops were the same with one excepion who was 150.00 less.Lou said I should make sure it was a US warrenty. I tired to call the were on holiday till Monday, over the weekend Lou forwarded me the list of Authorized dealers for Nikon, guess what the exception was not on it. Consider Ra-Lin before the big name chains. I was with my family in Syracuse and found ourselves in need of a new tv. We were looking for about a 60 inch plasma display. We had checked best buy and other large chain stores but wanted to check by a local store first as recommended by a family friend whose wife used to work at Ra-Lin. We took his advice and were glad we had. Ra-Lin had a great deal on the exact tv we were looking for.
