The GREAT Goofy's asked if I wanted to come in at 6 or 7 am. They usually open at 8 am. I picked 6 am and I drove up at 6am and the doors were opening. I am moved by the level of consideration and kindness. Plus they did an absolutely top notch job - replacing both collector gaskets in less than an hour for a very reasonable price. Not a good experience!! I talked to Brian to check my shocks & agreed to 4 best quality shocks on my van which took over 2 days. I went to check on progress & was told 1 stud & lug nut was stripped on a front wheel. I was then advised to have them replace ALL studs & lug nuts on all 4 wheels. My cost went from $1,000 for the shocks to $2,225 for replacement of all wheel bearings & fuel system service. I put my brother on the phone while at Goofy's to discuss this as he's had 30 yrs as owner of a tire shop & has replaced studs & lug nuts & knew the time it took. He was dubious about their price of labor & need to replace all of them. He then suggested I bring my van to him & he'd get it repaired as needed. I cancelled the rest of my planned service & paid for the 4 shocks which my brother later told me he thought were overpriced too. I will encourage my friends to compare prices before agreeing to have work done at Goofy's. This was sad as I'd had quality service at reasonable prices with Jeff, a prior owner, who'd suggested I check in later on my shocks as one was leaking. Barby . read more

Update, upon learning of my dissatisfaction, the manager reached with a sincere apology and willingness to make things right. they took care of the issue very quickly and professionally. I understand that sometimes things happen so we will chalk it up to that. Bottom line, the final outcome was great. I showed up for my 8:00 appointment at 7:50. They brought my truck in to install the Flow master mufflers and remove the resonators. I was told it would be 1 hour. In the middle of the conversion they stopped working on it and went to other vehicles. They finished at least 3 other vehicles before mine. To add insult to injury the tech talked me into leaving the resonators on saying they wouldn't make a difference (if they don't make a difference why are they there? The difference is it was easier on them). 3 hours (2 hours longer than promised) and $875 later my truck doesn't sound any different. Then I call about the resonators and they say another 3 hours and they will have to charge me to remove them. read more

My friend in Tennessee has a very steep driveway and when I was there, for 2 months, every time I went up or down the driveway I scraped. My tailpipe was all dented up and ended up rattling while driving and this drove me crazy so when I got back to Oregon, I got an appointment at Goofy's. Brian and another guy inspected my tailpipe and it was determined that the whole thing including the hangers needed to be replaced. When the job was done, they put it on the rack and let me check out the new pipe and hangers. I couldn't be more happy with their work. If you really want quality work, don't go anywhere else. I took my van in with the idea of going from a single exhaust to a dual exhaust. The owner Jeff knows what he is doing but he quoted in my opinion an outrageous price of $3000. Just replacing the muffler would have been $650. I countered with a price of $500 which I thought would be fair since I was return customer. He told me if his customers "Jew him down" he asks them to go down the road. I told him I was not Jewish and I went down the road. I understand as a business owner you can run your business the way you want to. I would not want to take pride in that kind of reputation. read more

I had just bought a new (to me) beautiful 1987 f150 in Vancouver, WA-- only to have the cat converter *almost* stolen in Portland by some punk with a sawzall. I had to make the trip to LA and did not have time to wait around. I called all around Portland, Salem, and Eugene looking for a muffler repair shop who could fit me in. Cat converter theft is an epidemic right now so most muffler shops are completely booked. Goofy's staff were incredibly friendly, and were sympathetic to my troubles, and agreed to fit me in right when the shop opens the next morning to repair my exhaust pipe and replace my damaged muffler. The next morning they were right on time, and Jeff did a beautiful job on the repair. And while my dad and I were in the waiting room, we couldn't help but notice how friendly and attentive the staff were with every customer who walked through the door, despite how clearly very busy the shop was that morning. I recently needed a catalytic converter cover placed on my 2016 Prius. Goofy's was able to get me in quickly and did a lovely job. The engine splash shield was loose at the time, having met a pot hole a few months earlierT they secured it for me and said if I had any trouble to return. The shield finally came loose, Goofy got me in right away, cleaned up the mess and secured the sheild for me. All without charge. In the meanwhile, I got to watch their amazing staff field questions and solve problems for a few people as they came in. I would highly recommend Goofy's for any muffler, brake or other work you need. They are honest, do very good work and are wonderful to work with. read more

Got a whole exhaust system and a couple hoses done by the radiator the lady on the phone said it would be around 750$ and it would be done the day after I dropped it off then she calls to tell me my truck is ready 3 days later and says it'll be 1100 we go back and forth and she says it's what we talked about we can work out payment plans and I couldn't believe it I went in to pay and pick it up I get a recipe with no breakdown of repair cost I have to ask her to put the pricing of labor and parts. I will say the work they did was good but definitely seemed like they ripped me off hard I am to busy and don't have the energy to argue but I thought I'd try to save some people some money go anywhere else read more

I have taken my car there multiple times for various reason and each time they were able to fix it within a timely manner and their prices are always fair. they are really kind and are always straight forward about what is wrong with your car and how much it SHOULD cost versus how much they WANT to charge. This is an honest repair shop. I don't find these very often, and as a young professional woman without a husband or mechanical background, I've gotten almost used to being victimized by repair shops trying to get me to drop a grand on needless repairs. I wound up at Goofy's after being told by another shop that I needed to spend over $700 to replace my front brakes and bleed the brake fluid (plus $600 in other misc repairs). After having a panic attack over that, I called Goofy's, and since I needed to go out of town, Jeff said he would fit me in the next day, even though he already had a full schedule. Also, when I called initially for a quote on the brake job, they gave me options for mid-priced and premium parts, which I appreciated. There are times when I want to spend extra for premium, and times when I don't, so I've learned to recognize it as a sign of honesty and transparency when repair shops give me options. Interestingly, after Jeff inspected my brakes, he was mystified because they seemed to still be just fine at 50-60% left, and my brake fluid was fine as well. During his inspection, he did find rust on my wheel bearings, and specifically said he would feel more comfortable with me getting those replaced instead of the brake stuff (since I do not have any money to waste on car repairs), so we went ahead and did that. I'm aware of the potential risks with rust on wheel bearings, so I was glad he caught that. He took a picture of the rust, and then showed me the actual part later so I could see the rust for myself. He worked overtime to get my car done that day, and stuck to the $325 price he quoted me, even when they had to get higher-priced parts due to supply issues at their distributor. That's another sign of a good mechanic and I was beyond grateful. I'm only in Eugene for the summer, but I'll be taking my car here for any future repairs, regardless of where I'm at in the Northwest. Honest mechanics are rare and worth their weight in gold. No extra frills, but the coffee was hot and there is a bus stop located directly across the street from the shop, so it was no problem for me to get back home while they worked on my car. I highly recommend this place for women needing a trustworthy mechanic. read more

Being a huge car/truck enthusiast, I first used Goofy's 10 years ago when I first moved to Eugene (2007) to install a Cat-Back Borla exhuast on a 350z. I had gone to two other mechanics before I was finally referred to Goofy's, and they're amazing!!! My muffler had rusted out from NYC salt in previous years, and my mechanic told me he didn't fix mufflers. My second mechanic tried calling around, but said my muffler was no longer manufactured and it would cost $1600 to get an entire new exhaust system from the dealer. He referred me to Goofy's for a custom job to possibly fix only the rusted parts. Jeremy at Goofy's not only took my car in immediately, but he gave me an estimate on the spot, showed me what was wrong and explained how he could fix it, and even brought me under my car to take a look! I had occasion to have some welding done on the underside of my older car. I had taken it to the dealer for a proper checkup, but not surprisingly they returned a mid-4-figure estimate to bring everything up to date. For a car that I could purchase for less than that, it made no sense. I asked around and learned that for welding, which not every shop is licensed to do, Goofy's is the place. So, not knowing what to expect I took the car there. The service was prompt, professional, decisive, and there were no surprises. The work was done and I am happy.
